My Kingdom Building Done Right!
Chapter 450: A Mistake They Would Remember

Leone had a faint smile as he looked at the countdown timer ticking every second. After driving off the Britannian Army back to their own kingdom, he and his men enjoyed two days of peace.
Even then, they didn’t lower their guard. Blitz and the Pteranodons were frequently sent to scout the surroundings to ensure that not a single soldier from Britannia was wandering their lands.

[Would you like to merge your Worldcaller’s Whistle and the Summoning Scroll of a Rank 9 Elemental King?]
[Yes/No]
——————
Leone blinked once, then twice. If the 300,000 BP reward shocked him, the Bonus Reward made him wonder if he actually knew how to read.
"Merge my whistle with the summoning scroll Great Grandpa gave me?" Leone muttered.
For some reason, he had a bad feeling about this. However, a bit of his worry soon disappeared when he heard Daedalus’ assuring words by his side.
"Isn’t this great?" Daedalus asked. "If your Worldcaller’s Whistle gets an upgrade, you’ll get to summon more powerful Elementals to fight by your side. Sure, these Elementals will likely be hostile toward you. But it’s still a trump card you can use in battle!"
"You should have skipped the hostile part," Leone replied.
"Well, even if I left it out, facts are still facts, you know?"
"Mmm..."
The young man had no choice but to agree to the grimoire’s statement. Even if he sugarcoated it, the Elementals would still either be friend or foe.
Although chances of them becoming his foe was high, he could just make them his ally by spending BP!
"Fine, let’s do it." Leone gritted his teeth. "Merge them!"
He then clicked the [Yes] option.
As soon as he made his choice, the Worldcaller’s Whistle and the summoning scroll shot out of his storage ring and merged together, forming a golden orb of light.
Leone’s vassals, as well as his subordinates, weren’t too surprised when they saw this scene. They had already seen their Great Chieftain perform many miracles, so they only eagerly waited to see what he was cooking once more.
When the light finally faded, a golden whistle was revealed, hovering in front of the young man.
The Worldcaller’s Whistle original silver color turned gold after the upgrade.
Leone then checked the status page of his artifact to see what kind of changes had happened to it.

—————
"What the..." Leone couldn’t help but gasp at the sight of the rates of turning the Elementals into his allies. Turning them into allies had become more expensive!
However, he had also noticed that their duration had increased from thirty minutes to an hour.
This trade-off seemed fair, but the young man could already imagine his hard-earned BP going poof everytime he would summon a powerful, yet hostile Elemental.
"This is the true definition of slapping your enemies with cash." Leone shook his head helplessly. "Still, I guess summoning a Rank 9 Elemental King for 300,000 BP is worth a shot."
Suddenly, a thought came to his mind.
He once again shifted his attention back to his rewards to check how much BP he had gained after completing his mission.
[Rewards: 300,000 BP]
Exactly 300,000 BP.
The corner of Leone’s lips twitched when he realized that his reward was enough to turn only one hostile Elemental King into an ally.
"Daedalus, tell me. Who’s the one responsible for giving these rewards?" Leone lightly tapped the grimoire strapped around his waist, as if telling it to spill the beans. "Aren’t they being too petty?"
"Don’t call her petty," Daedalus warned him. "If you make her angry, she might make sure your *beep* would never rise ever again."
The young man immediately took back his words and apologized to whoever was giving him rewards.
He didn’t mind paying an expensive amount of points to turn hostile Elementals into allies as long as those of higher power left his *beep* alone.
The future generations of the Kingdom of Aslan Soleil depended on it!
The young man then took the whistle and held it firmly in his hands. It felt a little cool and gave off a refreshing feeling.
And while he didn’t want to admit it, his rewards were screaming at him to use the Worldcaller’s Whistle when he was in a pinch.
This actually made Leone feel anxious since he thought he could handle the upcoming war with the Aurelion Empire using his current kingdom building powers.
As much as he didn’t want to think about it, he had a feeling that this war would be nothing like the wars he had seen in the past.
"Let’s head back to Grimjaw Mountain," Leone ordered. "Everyone will rest for two days before we head to Eden."
""Yes, Great Chieftain!""
Conall gave Leone an appraising gaze from a distance.
He was starting to grow fond of this young man, but he was also starting to fear him.
When he was first asked by his Master to go and protect Leone until the end of the war in the Borderlands, he had expected it to be a babysitting mission.
But contrary to what he thought, the young man was more capable than he expected.
The scheme to attack the Kingdom of Britannia while its manpower was elsewhere was a brilliant move.
However, his suggestion of using his great-grandfather’s connections to bring other factions to join the invasion was downright evil.
And it just so happened that the Barbarians of the west and their Beastmen allies were all starving to take a bite of the pie Lugh had shown in front of them.
Even so, Conall had no idea just how effective Leone’s plan came to be.
Not only did the Helion Family eat up most of the northern territories, but the Barbarians and the Beastmen had also taken a chunk of the western domain.
In fact, their combined assault had even surpassed what the Helion Army had achieved.
Originally, the King of Britannia thought only a quarter of his territory would fall during this turbulent time.
But he was proven wrong by the latest report. Nearly a third of his territories had already fallen to the invaders, and nearly did he faint from anger!
He felt aggrieved and frustrated over this outcome.
He had forgotten how mobile the Beastmen were, and how much stronger they were than ordinary humans.
They even left the Barbarians behind and pushed deeper into Britannia’s lands, taking one territory after the other like starved beasts that hadn’t eaten for days.
King Augustus believed that the lands the Helion Family had taken from him would be returned after the King of the Radiant Empire stepped in.
However, the lands the Barbarians and the Beastmen took couldn’t be reclaimed so easily. The King would have to wait for his generals to finally gather and push them all back to where they came from.
Speaking of generals, the King almost started executing people when he found out that the return of the Black Tortoise General and the Vermillion Bird General had been delayed by the destruction of the teleportation gates in Stoneguard Fortress, as well as the nearby cities.
This news made him want to execute the mayors of those places. How could they allow such a thing to happen under their noses!
"I shouldn’t have agreed to the Aurelion Empire’s offer," King Augustus muttered as he drank a goblet of wine to calm his nerves. "We shouldn’t have set foot in that god-forsaken Borderlands."
Some mistakes could be forgiven, while others could only be remembered.
And the King of Britannia, as well as his heirs, would do well to remember this day because it was the day that made them realize that a single mistake could cost them everything that they and their ancestors had built throughout the passage of time.
Of course, they had no idea that this was only the beginning of their suffering.
They had yet to find out that their downfall started the day they sent Leone to the Borderlands.
They would only know their folly when the young man returned, bringing thousands of warriors with him... to trample on the lands that had mocked and laughed at him during that fateful day when he was exiled to the Borderlands.
He promised them that he would return with an army that would make the ground tremble.
That day would not be far.
And on that day, King Augustus’ greatest regret in life would slap him in the face, not once, not twice, but thrice.
