My Kingdom Building Done Right!
Chapter 451: Meeting Great-Grandma
After returning to Grimjaw Mountain and telling everyone to rest, the young chieftain headed straight to the Forgotten Temple to pray and thank the three Goddesses for their guidance.
Truth be told, Leone wasn’t a religious person. But after spending time with Daedalus and the Barbarians, he came to understand that Gods truly existed.
Ever since it dawned upon him, and the grimoire told him that the power of faith allowed Gods to exist, he made it a habit to pray frequently.
The young man then opened his eyes and looked at the statue standing in front of him.
The forgotten deity, Goddess Eostre.
Leone hoped that she would recover her divinity and would once again be remembered by the people of the world.
Although he was only one person who believed in her recovery, having one person was still better than none.
Daedalus once told him that there was once a God who almost ceased to exist because he only had one remaining follower in the world.
But thanks to a stroke of luck, a red-headed Half-Elf chose to become his follower.
Things happened and after many years, the God of All Trades, Gavin, finally had a great following.
Leone was inspired by this story because Daedalus assured him that it was all true!
That being so, he would continue to believe in the Goddess Eostre!
Once he was done with his prayer and offering, the young chieftain made his way to the Helion Duchy.
He was curious about the current situation of the war within the Kingdom of Britannia.
Leone didn’t want to admit it, but he hoped that the invaders had managed to reach the capital city of the kingdom and razed it to the ground.
However, little did he know that something close to what he had envisioned had actually happened.
While the royal capital and the palace wasn’t destroyed, Lugh had managed to secure the Gryphon Riders and their families.
This was something Leone had personally asked his Great Grandpa to handle. He believed that old people had a certain degree of shamelessness that young men like him had yet to earn.
"Good day, Young Master Leone," Jeeves greeted him. "Have you come here today to talk to your great-grandmother?"
A few days ago, the young man should have talked to his great-grandmother after learning the latter wished to talk to him.
But, their meeting had been canceled after the King’s messenger had arrived at the Helion Duchy. As the figurehead while everyone else was out she had to handle this matter personally and carefully. In the end, her meeting with Leone was pushed back a bit.
While they hadn’t set a date for their meeting, now was a good time to finally make it happen.
"The reason why I am here is to better understand the current situation within the Kingdom of Britannia," Leone replied. "But having a talk with my great-grandma is a good thing as well."
Jeeves nodded in understanding before guiding Leone toward the secret passage that directly led to a guest room of the Helion Residence.
The butler then asked Leone to wait for a while since he still needed to inform the Dowager Duchess of the young man’s arrival.
After waiting for a few minutes, the young man heard a knock on the door to his room.
"Come in," Leone said calmly.
When the door opened, an older woman entered the room with a smile on her face.
Although she was already old, her eyes looked young and full of life. Her complexion was also good for her age.
While her hair was all white, she carried the dignity of a lady who must have held power during her prime.
Leone could tell that her great-grandmother was a beauty that could bring the downfall of any nation.
Now he understood why his family lineage was all good looking. It was all because of his great-grandmother!

A/N: Somewhere in the continent, a certain Dragon Slayer sneezed.

"We finally met, Leone," the older woman said softly. "Let me introduce myself. I am Rosaline Von Helion. Feel free to call me Grandma Rosaline. Getting called Great-Grandma makes me feel too old."
"Of course, Grandma." Leone readily accepted this fact since all ladies in their family deserved to be treated well.
"Strange. When I look at you, I’m reminded of my husband during his younger days," Lady Rosaline said in nostalgia. "He was such a womanizer back when he was young. He even had some lovers in every kingdom he visited. I’m just glad none of his escapades bore any fruit."
Both Leone and Jeeves flinched at the same time.
Clearly, Lady Rosaline had yet to find out that her husband had actually left a few descendants behind without knowing about it until recently.
In fact, the Barbarian King of the west was actually Lugh’s great-grandson, just like Leone!
Of course, Leone and Jeeves both knew how to read the room, so they didn’t say anything that might cause the woman in front of them to cut off his great-grandfather’s *ahem* after he returned from his military campaign.
"Grandma, do you know what state the war in Britannia is in right now?" Leone asked with genuine curiosity.
"I do," Lady Rosaline replied before casually waving her hand over the table.
A second later, a map of the Kingdom of Britannia manifested in front of Leone.
The older woman then took out a wand from her storage ring before pointing at a few territories located in the northern region of the Kingdom of Britannia.
"Your great-grandfather captured these lands and sent the sons of the noble families here as hostages," Lady Rosaline stated. "He then left the chain of command to my son, Andreas, before heading straight to the capital city of the kingdom to destroy their royal palace."
Lady Rosaline then explained that Lugh only took a dozen Wyvern Riders with him when he undertook this mission.
It was a reckless move, and yet, Lugh successfully pulled it off thanks to his years of experience in the battlefield.
Leone blinked once, then twice before saying "Damn!" in his heart.
He didn’t know that his Great Grandpa was such a badass. He actually dared to travel to the heart of Britannia with only a dozen Wyvern Riders with him!
Lady Rosaline badmouthed Lugh for being reckless, but the smile on her face carried pride. Clearly, she was proud and confident of her husband’s abilities.
For her, this was a very normal thing, so she wasn’t too worried about Lugh’s safety.
"The real problem is what happens next," Lady Rosaline said in a serious tone. "The Royal Messengers have already arrived at my son’s camp and told him about the Emperor’s Decree. That decree is to halt all and any military operations within the Kingdom of Britannia.
"He even added that Lugh would have to report to His Majesty right away after his return and explain why he had dared to invade the Kingdom without asking for permission."
Lady Rosaline said these words with a sigh. She was a princess of the Royal Family, while the current King was her nephew.
She knew about the agreement between the Radiant Empire and the Kingdom of Britannia because her husband told her about it.
And yet, despite all that, Lugh still invaded the Britannian Territory because Leone had asked for his help.
Doing so carried some risks, but Lugh still went ahead and did it.
Although Lady Rosaline didn’t say anything out loud, Leone understood that the Helion Family was currently in a pinch because of the proposal he made with them.
"Oh, don’t worry about the aftermath," Lady Rosaline waved her hand casually. "We didn’t have any casualties in this war. While some were seriously injured among our soldiers, they have already received proper treatment from our clerics.
"At most, they will need to rest for a few months before returning to active duty. Although he doesn’t look like it, my husband is a meticulous person. He took the brunt of the enemy’s resistance and weakened them enough for our troops to sweep in and finish the job."
After saying those words, Lady Rosaline then moved to the western battlefield.
When she told the young man that the Barbarian King and their Beastmen allies had actually defeated one of the generals and pushed deeper into the Kingdom of Britannia, Leone almost clapped his hands in satisfaction.
After such a decisive blow, he was certain that the King of Britannia wouldn’t be able to sleep well at night. How could he when the problem had grown so big?
Although he still hadn’t met the Barbarian King of the west, he was more than happy to know that one of his family members had actually done a good job, making the King of Britannia, as well as his nobles, feel as if they were walking on thin ice.
Seeing that her great-grandson was really interested in the details of the war, the older woman told him everything, including the preparations to receive the Gryphon Riders, as well as their families into their domain.
While it would take a while for this to happen, Leone could almost taste the sweetness of having a fully-armed Gryphon Battalion under his command.
