My Kingdom Building Done Right!
Chapter 449: An Old Man More Shameless Than Him [Part 2]
After staring at each other for a while, the corner of Lugh's lips rose, forming a sneer.
"Is that so? How about we put that to the test?" Lugh sneered as he took out a scroll from his storage ring. "Let's see which of us croaks today."
The scroll in his hand was a summoning scroll. Lugh liked to collect these things because he liked the thrill of using them in battle.
He had gifted Leone a summoning scroll that could summon a Rank 9 Elemental King.
While the scroll in his hand couldn't summon something as powerful, it could still summon a Rank 8 Elemental Archon.
A monster more powerful than the Monster King Leone had faced in the Borderlands.
Those who saw Lugh take out a scroll suddenly felt a bad premonition. Although they had no idea what the scroll in his hand could do, their instincts were telling them to run.
"Come forth!" Lugh shouted as he activated the scroll. "Elemental Archon!"
A flash of light emerged from the scroll. Soon, a being at least fifteen meters tall manifested right before everyone's eyes.
Seeing the Light Elemental Archon, Lugh smirked.
Just like the scroll he gave Leone, the Elemental he could summon had a high chance to attack its summoner as soon as it made its appearance.
Had it been any other element, then Lugh might have already fled for his life. However, a Light Elemental was different.
The Goddess the Helion Family worshiped was the main deity of the Radiant Empire.
The Goddess of Light, Aine.
As such, any Light Elemental would always be on their side!
"Power overwhelming," the Elemental Archon said as its green eyes locked onto the barrier in front of him.
"Destroy that palace!" Lugh ordered. "And destroy anyone who tries to stop you!"
The Light Archon didn't hesitate to unleash a concentrated ray of light toward the palace protected by the barrier.
The moment that beam of light collided with the barrier, the sound of something cracking reached everyone's ears.
King Augustus' face immediately paled as he ran away in haste, fleeing from the castle as fast as he could.
A few seconds later, the barrier shattered as the Archon's attack finally broke through.
However, this attack was blocked by a sacred artifact that dispersed it completely, turning it into countless sparkles of light that rained down like golden snowflakes.
Samuel stood between the Light Archon and the castle, holding a golden shield.
He looked calm on the surface, but deep inside, he knew that even if he won in this battle against the Light Archon, he would once again be injured.
If that really happened, the Kingdom of Britannia would lose its strongest warrior, the only one who could face off against threats like Lugh, who was of the same rank.
"Do you really plan to go with this route, Lugh?" Samuel asked. "Do you want your King to become an Oath Breaker?"
"Like I said, I have no idea what you're talking about," Lugh replied while picking on his ear with his little finger. "Oath Breaker? What's that? Is that edible?"
Samuel understood that the Dragon Slayer was playing dumb.
It seemed that he really wanted to destroy the palace no matter what rather than destroy the capital city and cause terror among their people.
His purpose was to destroy the royal palace, the symbol of the Kingdom of Britannia.
As long as that was done, his mission was already complete.
"What do you want?" Samuel asked. "Speak."
The Light Archon didn't continue attacking because its summoner gave it a silent order.
Lugh pondered for a bit before remembering the message that Jeeves had sent to him directly after Leone visited their territory two days ago.
"I've been a fan of the Gryphon Battalion of the Kingdom of Britannia. Give them to me, as well as their families. If you do that, I'll leave quietly."
Samuel frowned before shifting his attention toward King Augustus, who was now surrounded by his Royal Guards.
The King had stopped fleeing after hearing that a compromise could be settled.
"I agree to it!" King Augustus replied. "You can have them, including their families!"
"Oh?" Lugh arched an eyebrow in response. Of course, he had an idea as to why the King had been so willing to sacrifice one of the strongest battalions from their kingdom.
The Gryphon Battalion, who had lost their Gryphons, was no longer a Gryphon Battalion.
At most, they were elite Magic Knights stronger than ordinary knights.
To begin with, King Augustus had already planned to execute Dominic after he returned from the failed campaign to vent out his anger. Letting the madman Lugh take him off his hands was not much different!
"I don't trust verbal agreements," Lugh stated. "Put it into paper, and I'll leave. I'll give you five minutes."
King Augustus wanted to cough up blood then and there. His agreement with the King of the Radiant Empire was also put into paper.
And yet, what good did it do to his kingdom?
Not only did the northern regions get invaded, but his royal palace also almost got destroyed!
Even so, he really had no choice but to put it on paper.
"Ah right. I don't trust normal paper," Lugh added. "Here, use this."
The Hero of the Radiant Empire then tossed a scroll to King Augustus.
Samuel caught it first and opened it, thinking it was a blank scroll.
However, to his surprise, it was actually a proper contract with terms and clauses.
A glance was enough for him to understand that Lugh had prepared this advance so that he could force the King to sign it once a compromise was agreed upon.
Even King Augustus didn't expect that Lugh would come prepared. In the end, he had no choice but to sign the contract. He had even put a drop of his blood to activate the magic within.
"It's done!" King Augustus threw the contract back to the sky. "Take it!"
Lugh casually raised his hand, and the contract flew to him as if it was being pulled by an invisible force.
After making sure that it was truly properly signed, the old man finally smiled faintly.
"Fine, I'll let you keep your palace," Lugh said with a smile. "However, I will not pull back my forces from the lands I conquered. If you want them back, you have to pay another price."
King Augustus was so angry that his face turned beet-red. He hadn't met an old man more shameless than him. For the first time in his life, he wished he could smash Lugh's smug smile with his royal scepter.
"Get out!" King Augustus shouted. "Leave this place!"
He decided to let the King of the Radiant Empire handle this matter because they had broken the agreement first.
King Augustus didn't care if Lugh took Dominic, his subordinates, and their families with him.
But the lands that belonged to their kingdom must be returned at all costs!
Of course, Lugh had no intention of occupying the land his men had taken since he didn't want to burn bridges with the King of the Radiant Empire.
However, the heirs of the noble families must be ransomed if they wanted them back.
Lugh already knew that the King of the Radiant Empire would breathe fire down his back when he returned to his domain.
But, justification was on his side.
"You didn't tell me about that non-aggression pact or whatever. If you did, then why would I even bother attacking the Kingdom of Britannia? You're the one at fault for not informing me about this agreement."
Those were the words that Andreas and Lugh had prepared beforehand.
They would even cause a commotion about not being trusted enough by the current King for him to share his state secrets.
With his no-good great-grandson's request fulfilled, Lugh flew back to where his son was waiting for him in order to prepare for the next rounds of negotiations.
As for the Light Elemental Archon?
It simply vanished after Lugh canceled the summoning.
Leone had no idea that his no-good great-grandfather had almost obliterated the royal palace of the Kingdom of Britannia.
He was still too busy waiting for the countdown of his mission to finish. Once it did, he could return to the Aslan Tribe and prepare for the war that would be happening soon in Eden.
