Chapter 102: The Terrified Feng Jianhua
Chapter 102: Chapter 102: The Terrified Feng Jianhua
Feng Jianhua’s forehead was covered in cold sweat, his face a mask of agony. His eyes were bloodshot as he stared intently at the white pill in Ye Xing’s hand and nodded desperately. "Okay, I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything! My boss, Sun Mingsheng, was the one who sent me back to Luoxian County. The goal was your grass carp feed formula. Since you’ve been keeping such a tight watch recently, my boss came up with several schemes. He sent me back to Luoxian County to distract you, then find a chance to steal the grass carp feed and bring it back for him to study."
"Several schemes? How unsettling. Heh, you seem to be working awfully hard for Sun Mingsheng, putting in so much effort at his beck and call."
"Sun Mingsheng promised that once the grass carp feed formula was successfully replicated, he would give me two million as a reward. That’s the whole story. The antidote... Please, I’m begging you, hurry up and give me the antidote!" Feng Jianhua cried out, pleading through his agony.
"Sigh. You really are stubborn to the bitter end. Why did it have to come to this? If you’d just told me when I asked earlier, you wouldn’t have had to suffer so much!" Ye Xing sighed faintly. With a flick of his index finger, the white pill shot out and rolled to a stop in front of Feng Jianhua.
"The antidote! Thank God, the antidote!"
GULP. Feng Jianhua swallowed hard, his eyes wild with excitement as he quickly reached for the antidote with his right hand. His forehead was drenched in cold sweat, and his hand trembled so violently from the pain that he fumbled twice before finally snatching the white pill from the floor on his third attempt.
The moment he grabbed the white pill, he shoved it into his mouth without a second thought for whether it was dirty and swallowed it down.
The white pill dissolved instantly in his mouth, transforming into a warm current that spread throughout his body.
As the warmth spread, Feng Jianhua felt the bone-piercing agony finally begin to subside. A moment later, the pain was almost completely gone.
Feng Jianhua went limp as if from total exhaustion, collapsing to the floor. The extreme pain had sapped a massive amount of his energy, leaving him utterly spent.
"So, the poison has been neutralized, I take it? By the way, you mentioned you had several other schemes to use against me. I’m quite curious. Why don’t you go back and try them out for me to see?" A slight smile touched the corners of Ye Xing’s lips as he gazed at Feng Jianhua.
Before, Ye Xing’s smile might have made Feng Jianhua think he was a friendly, harmless person. Now, however, that same faint smile struck a bone-deep terror into his heart.
Feng Jianhua shuddered with fright and scrambled up from the floor. His eyes were wide with terror. "I wouldn’t dare! I’ll never dare again! I really, truly won’t!" His voice was on the verge of sobbing, so terrified he was close to tears. Clearly, his experience with the Ten Thousand Ants Bone-Eating Pill was something he would remember for the rest of his life.
And for good reason. The Ten Thousand Ants Bone-Eating Pill was a poison from the Five Poison Sect designed specifically for torture, interrogation, and punishment. Even a Martial Artist would feel the pain seep into their very bones, let alone an ordinary man like Feng Jianhua. Although he was given the antidote after less than a few minutes, that short span of time was more than enough to leave a lifelong impression.
"Aw, giving up so soon? I was hoping to play a little longer. And what about that two-million-dollar reward from your boss, Sun Mingsheng? Don’t you want it anymore? Why not give it another shot? Maybe one of your schemes will actually work on me! You’d be rich." Ye Xing chuckled, a hint of playful cruelty in his eyes.
"No more! No more! I’ll never dare again!" Feng Jianhua shook his head frantically, terrified. "As soon as I get back, I’ll resign from Mingsheng Group. I’ll find a new job immediately. Please, I’m begging you, just let me go! I’ll never dare to cross you again!"
With terror in his eyes, Feng Jianhua pleaded relentlessly.
"Hmph. Since you know what’s good for you, get lost," Ye Xing said coolly.
"Yes, yes, yes! I’m going, I’m going right now!" Feng Jianhua felt as if he’d received a royal pardon. He scrambled to his feet and bolted for the door, his only thought to escape this nightmare of a place as fast as he could.
"Wait!" Ye Xing’s voice was suddenly grim.
Feng Jianhua’s hand, just touching the doorknob, froze. He looked back at Ye Xing, his heart pounding with dread, wondering why Ye Xing had stopped him again.
"Just one thing before you go," Ye Xing said with a slight smile. "The police are very busy people. Don’t go bothering them with phone calls for no reason, understand?"
"I understand! I understand!" Feng Jianhua nodded frantically, then threw open the door and fled from Luxury Suite 309 as if for his life.
"You’re just letting him go like that?" Wu Qiang asked. "What if he calls the police? We’re not afraid, of course, but it would still be a hassle. Should I have someone give him another... warning?"
"There’s no need. He won’t dare." A chilling light flashed in Ye Xing’s eyes.
If Feng Jianhua still didn’t know what was good for him, Ye Xing wouldn’t have minded making him disappear from the face of the earth. With the methods at his disposal, killing someone was laughably easy; he could take a life without leaving a single trace. The only reason he hadn’t killed Feng Jianhua was that, while the man had provoked him, his offense wasn’t punishable by death. A small lesson would suffice. After all, Ye Xing was no saint, but he wasn’t a bloodthirsty maniac either. Not unless someone truly pushed him too far.
After Feng Jianhua left, a quiet settled over Luxury Suite 309.
The light in Ye Xing’s eyes flickered as he seemed to be contemplating something.
"Ye Xing, when are you planning to go to Fu City to deal with Sun Mingsheng?" Wu Qiang couldn’t help but ask.
"Tomorrow," Ye Xing said with a small smile. "They’ve already brought the fight right to my doorstep. How could I not go and teach him a lesson?"
"Besides, I haven’t been to Fu City in almost half a year, not since I graduated from college. While I’m there dealing with Sun Mingsheng, I can have a little fun and catch up with some old classmates." Ye Xing’s expression changed, and his voice grew serious. "By the way, Master Wu, there’s something I need to ask you."
"What is it? Your business is my business. If there’s anything I can do to help, I’m all in!" Wu Qiang said, thumping his chest.
"I was wondering," Ye Xing said, his voice low, "from your early days running with the gangs, do you have any channels for getting ahold of firearms and ammunition?"
"Firearms and ammunition?" Wu Qiang was startled. He felt compelled to advise, "Ye Xing, what do you need that stuff for? Gun control is incredibly strict in this country. If you’re caught with a private firearm, you’ll go to prison. Even back in the day, we rarely used them. Gang fights were mostly handled with machetes."
"I’m not planning to use them in the country, and I won’t be bringing them back. I just need to be able to buy them abroad. Do you know anyone who can make that happen?" Ye Xing asked.
Of course, Ye Xing’s plan was to take the firearms and ammunition to the Martial Arts Continent. While pistols and bullets couldn’t threaten an Innate Realm-level expert, they were still extremely effective against Postnatal Realm Martial Artists.
