My God-Level System Can Rebuild Civilization in the Apocalypse!
Chapter 251: Soul’s Journey
Combined with Byeol’s skills, even if there were some risks, they would basically remain within a controllable range. Therefore, Joo Joowon looked at Byeol and said, "Good boy, give me a [Forsaken Star]."
If Joo Joowon only spoke the name of the skill aloud, Byeol basically had no idea what he was supposed to do. Therefore, he used mental communication instead. Through this method, Byeol could naturally understand what he meant. It was even more convenient than Mental Power, almost like mind reading.
Byeol shuddered. The cat servant was going outside?!
He hesitated a little. He was not fully recovered yet, and he still remembered Hwi’s abnormal condition from before, so he did not dare let Hwi follow the cat servant outside either. But if Joo Joowon went out alone, he was still worried.
"Byeol ?"
Seeing that it was taking so long to move, Joo Joowon could not help urging him. He could not help wondering if it was because he had already used the monster-killing skill earlier, meaning that it was still in its skill cooldown.
Urged on by Joo Joowon, Byeol had no choice but to open his mouth and spit out a huge cloud of black smoke. His entire body immediately became listless because of it. His rubbed affectionately against him, praying that he would return safely from this hunt, just like he had countless times before.
Joo Joowon patted him, then directly closed his eyes and tried to use his Mental Power to travel toward that gap, then pass through the gap and reach the Sea of Quanta.
Seeing him "fall asleep," a huge question mark appeared above Byeol’s head.
Wasn’t he supposed to be going outside to hunt? Had he tricked him into using his skill?
Byeol’s fluffy paws immediately began to emit faint glints of cold light. He really wanted to give Joo Joowon a few good swipes.
Hwi completely failed to notice any of this. He finally finished gnawing on the Zombie Core, narrowed his eyes in satisfaction, and pretended to casually move closer to Byeol.
If Byeol was not going to eat it, then could he perhaps...
He had only taken a few steps while pretending to act as if nothing had happened when Byeol suddenly turned his head with a completely expressionless face.
Hwi’s scalp instantly went numb, and an instinct buried deep within his memories was awakened. Without even thinking, he whooshed under the bed.
Byeol withdrew his gaze, angrily biting down on the Zombie Core. He bit so hard that the crystal shattered into tiny powder, while his teeth seemed to gleam with a chilling sharpness.
So annoying! He was not going to pay attention to him for the entire day!
...
Joo Joowon had originally thought that finding his own soul would be much easier than finding someone else’s soul. He had not expected the exact opposite. Precisely because it was his own soul, his Mental Power could easily be affected by "himself." Calming down this instinctive control over his Mental Power was already no easy task, let alone setting off to "swim back."
Just suppressing himself had already taken Joo Joowon a great deal of effort. The journey afterward was even unexpectedly long.
Unlike the ease he had experienced when traveling toward Byeol’s location, his Mental Power was instead being consumed at an extremely rapid rate. Joo Joowon had no choice but to once again simplify and split his consciousness. Like a carp leaping over the Dragon Gate, he "swam back" together with the countless drifting strands of Mental Power, then suddenly leaped upward.
At a time like this, Joo Joowon still had the mood to think that perhaps this was what the normal situation should look like. Byeol’s situation was probably the exception.
His situation might simply have been caused by the twin nature of his primary soul and sub-soul. As a result, when others traveled over, they had to "climb a cliff with their bare hands," while he had been able to take the "high-speed train."
Without encountering any kind of soul defense mechanism, Joo Joowon directly entered the gap. His Mental Power was pulled along and fused into his soul without the slightest obstruction.
Joo Joowon was certain that he was not currently appearing in the form of Mental Power, but as a soul.
He lowered his head and looked at his own hands. They were neither solid nor heavy, carrying a strange ethereal feeling, yet at the same time, they gave off a sensation of being as hard as steel.
He raised his eyes and looked around. From the perspective of his soul’s perception, this place gave him a sense of stability.
It was not the feeling of "coming home" that he had experienced at Byeol’s place. It was simply a sense of stability, as if as long as he stayed here, he would never encounter any storms or troubles.
Joo Joowon took a few steps around the area. There was no real sensation of his feet touching solid ground, nor did he possess any of his five senses. Yet there was a mysterious intuition within her. When this "safe haven" collapsed, that would be the moment his lifespan came to an end.
And if nothing unexpected happened to him now, if he remained free from illness and disaster, he could probably live to... one hundred and twenty years old?
Joo Joowon was certain that he had not sensed it incorrectly. He had truly felt that he could live for several more decades. At most, the unit of measurement might not be completely accurate.
His physical attributes were already far beyond those of an ordinary person, yet he still could not break through the human limit of lifespan?
Thinking about it from another angle, even after removing the bonuses from his equipment, his attributes could not exactly be considered those of some kind of little superhuman. He then felt that this lifespan did not seem strange after all.
He tried to call out his attribute panel and strangely enough, he could not summon it.
