My Child and I Married a Billionaire
Chapter 451: I'll Die for You to See
Amina was riding her scooter, rushing through the bustling streets. Suddenly, the screech of brakes tore through the air. A silver-gray sports car, amidst the gasps of pedestrians, screeched to a halt sideways in front of her.
Amina was going a little too fast and couldn’t brake in time. She could only watch helplessly as she crashed right into it.
Her electric scooter tipped to the side, and she and the food delivery tumbled to the ground.
Ignoring the pain, she looked at the ruined food delivery and the luxury car she had hit. ‘It’s over,’ she thought. ‘I’m going to have to pay a fortune. Why am I so unlucky? How did I crash into another car again?’
Recalling the last time she’d gotten into a crash, a sense of dread washed over her. She could only hope the owner of this car was reasonable.
Amina picked up the milk tea that had rolled to her feet and, bracing against the pain, was about to get up when suddenly, a hand gripped her wrist.
She looked up. To her surprise, it was Zeke Walton.
“Zeke, you… what are you doing here?”
The car was Zeke’s. He had come looking for her on purpose. Where else would he be?
But Zeke didn’t answer her. He pulled her to her feet and grabbed her arm, examining it from front to back.
“Sorry, I had to brake a bit suddenly. Are you okay?”
“This is your car?”
Amina finally let out a sigh of relief, but at the same time, a new worry surfaced.
“What’s wrong with you? Why were you driving so fast? Have you been drinking, or is something wrong with your car?”
“I haven’t been drinking, and there’s nothing wrong with the car. I came here specifically to find you.”
Seeing that she wasn’t seriously hurt, Zeke helped her pick up her electric scooter.
“Come with me. I have something to tell you.”
Although the morning rush hour had passed, the streets were still crowded with people and vehicles. Zeke had left his car parked sideways in the middle of the road, causing a great deal of frustration. Passing cars and scooters were all honking their horns.
Amina didn’t understand what he wanted from her and said worriedly,
“But I’m working. As you can see, this delivery will have to be remade. I’m going to be late, and I’ll get a complaint. Besides, you can’t just leave your car here. Why don’t you go move it first? Whatever you want to say, can it wait until after I finish this delivery?”
No!
Zeke had waited for her for so long, had been in pain for so long. Now that he finally knew the truth, he was desperate to confirm it with Amina, to know what was in her heart. He couldn’t wait another minute.
“Let them complain! This stupid food delivery job… you’re not allowed to do it for another day!”
Zeke refused to move his car and wouldn’t let her leave. He decided to just ask her right here.
He stared intently into her eyes.
“Why, Amina? Why don’t you trust me? Why won’t you tell me anything? Why would you rather break up with me than…”
“HONK! HONK! HONK!”
Another driver started frantically honking at them, cursing.
“Are you trying to get killed? Do you even know how to drive? Parking in the middle of the road first thing in the morning—you got a death wish or something?”
Amina didn’t hear the driver’s shouting. She just stared blankly at Zeke.
She didn’t understand why he had suddenly come to find her, why he was suddenly asking these questions. She was completely unprepared. Zeke’s questions made her heart race with panic; she didn’t know how to answer.
“Zeke, you…”
Zeke cut her off. “Answer me. Why didn’t you tell me my mom came to see you? Why didn’t you tell me you were wronged? Is it because you have no faith in me at all, you think we were just playing around and I’d dump you sooner or later? Or do you really like Tim Tate? Tell me!”
Amina’s heart skipped a beat, and her eyelid started twitching.
‘So that’s why Zeke came looking for me.’
‘How did he find out Mrs. Walton came to see me behind his back?’
Amina didn’t know much, but one thing was crystal clear.
If she told him that Mrs. Walton had forced her to break up with him, he would definitely lose his mind.
Amina had always held one conviction: she never wanted him to have a falling out with his family, to be forced to choose between his parents and her.
She had been firm about it before, and she was firm about it now.
So, no matter who told him, Amina would not admit it.
“I… I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t know your mom. I’ve never even met her…”
“So you’re trying to tell me you really broke up with me for Tim Tate? You like him that much?”
Amina had said that before, using him as a shield, but now, she didn’t dare use Tim Tate as an excuse.
When Zeke went crazy, he was capable of anything. She didn’t dare drag Tim Tate into this.
“Zeke, I’m at work right now. We broke up so long ago, can we not talk about this? Look at the traffic jam you’re causing. Please move aside and let me go. Let everyone get by, okay?”
Zeke already knew everything. He had heard a whole tirade of accusations from his older brothers and Tim Tate at his doorstep.
While what they said might not have been one hundred percent true, he could believe at least part of it.
Which was: Amina’s sudden breakup with him back then was his mother’s doing.
He wanted to know what exactly his mother had said to Amina.
He wanted to tell Amina that no matter what, his mother’s opinions didn’t represent his own. He would love her forever, choose her without hesitation, even if it meant breaking ties with his family.
He had thought that when Amina saw him coming back for her, she would jump for joy, would cry happy tears.
But he never expected this kind of reaction.
Zeke felt his heart shatter into a million pieces all over again.
What kind of woman had he fallen in love with? She could be as kind as an angel to anyone else, but when it came to him, she was as cruel as a demon.
Zeke had lost count of how many times she had tormented him. Before, he had always endured the hellish pain, but today, he couldn’t take it anymore.
First, he had been enveloped by a huge, pleasant surprise, and now it was like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over his head. His heart felt like it was being pierced by a thousand arrows; the pain was unbearable.
“AHH!!!”
As soon as Amina finished speaking, he suddenly shoved her electric scooter to the ground like a madman and let out a furious roar at the sky.
Then he suddenly dashed into the middle of the road.
A black car was speeding toward him.
If not for the traffic, which had forced it to brake early as it approached, it would have surely slammed right into Zeke.
The driver slammed on the brakes, stopping the car less than 10 centimeters from Zeke. It was a near miss. Furious, the driver rolled down the window and began to curse.
“Are you crazy? Are you fucking walking without your eyes? Do you think the road is your private property to stroll on however you please? Shit, I’ve never seen someone in such a hurry to die first thing in the morning! If you want to die, go to a hospital and do it! Don’t bring your bad juju on me! Get lost!”
Zeke was already full of rage with nowhere to vent it. Hearing this, not only did he not get lost, he jumped up and sat right on the hood of the car.
The car had clearly been running for a while. The hood was hot, making it uncomfortable and precarious to sit on, but Zeke couldn’t be bothered with any of that right now.
He looked at Amina, his face a mask of devastation.
“Is it that hard to get a straight answer from you? Is it that hard to get you to just love me? Amina, you’d rather watch me die than show me a shred of compassion, is that it? Fine, I’ll go die then. Will you be happy once I’m dead? Then I’ll just die for you to see.”
