"I have something to attend to at home and the housekeeper has already approved it," Summer Shawcross had thought of a pretext ahead of time, lowering her head and feigning distress.

Due to the dim lighting outside, coupled with her makeup, the security guard probably wouldn’t recognize her.

Hearing her excuse, the security guard glanced at her but didn’t make things difficult. Instead, he simply opened the gate and let her through.

"Hurry along!"

"Thank you..." Summer nodded and then smoothly left The Hillside Villa.

As soon as she exited the iron gate, a taxi was parked at the entrance, waiting for her.

It was the cab she had booked online before coming downstairs.

"Are you Miss Summer?" the driver asked courteously as she approached.

Hearing this, Summer nodded, opened the car door, and got in. She had only filled in the last character of her name while booking, which is why the driver addressed her as Miss Summer.

"So late at night, where are you headed?" The driver hurriedly asked as soon as she got in.

Upon hearing the driver’s question, Summer quickly opened her phone, showing him the address Katherine Irving sent earlier.

After glancing at the address, the driver couldn’t help but turn to her, asking in surprise.

"Do you live there?"

"No, is there a problem?" Summer couldn’t help but ask.

"Not really, but that place has been abandoned for many years. It’s not safe for a young girl like you to go there at night," he seemed to shake his head, somewhat concerned.

"It’s fine, I’m just going to handle something. Please just drop me off there," Summer smiled.

Seeing her insistence, the driver didn’t say more, nodded, and stepped on the gas.

...

An hour later, the taxi arrived at the deserted residential area on the outskirts.

It was pitch dark all around, not a single streetlight. Summer sat in the car, looking outside, feeling inexplicably eerie and strange, yet she couldn’t help but feel more puzzled, wondering why Noah Drexler would come to this place in the middle of the night...

While she was dazed, the driver suddenly slammed on the brakes in fright!

Due to the sudden stop, Summer lurched forward but fortunately had her seatbelt on. Otherwise, her face would have slammed into the windshield.

"What’s wrong?" She asked in amazement, looking up just as she noticed a glowing human face in front of the car.

She was startled, her face turning pale with fright, when the person lowered their flashlight.

"Ma’am, what’s going on?" Katherine’s puzzled voice sounded from outside the car window.

Hearing Katherine’s voice, Summer finally let out a sigh of relief, quickly turned to the taxi driver, awkwardly laughed, and hastily explained and apologized.

"I’m sorry, sir. She’s my friend, she’s human..."

"..." Hearing her explanation, the expression on the driver’s face gradually returned to normal, though he seemed both amused and exasperated.

Summer pulled out some money to hand to the driver before quickly getting out of the car.

As soon as she got out, Katherine approached and took her, leading her into a car hidden under a roadside tree.

The two sat together in the back seat. Katherine directed the flashlight from her phone at Summer’s maid uniform and strange makeup, exclaiming in surprise.
