"Ma’am, I almost didn’t recognize you."

As Katherine Irving finished speaking, Summer Shawcross couldn’t help but roll her eyes at her.

"You nearly scared me to death..." She couldn’t help but chime in, "Why act all mysterious!"

Doesn’t she know that this can be terrifying!

"I’m not acting mysterious, I was worried you wouldn’t see me. It’s so dark here, there’s not even a streetlight," Summer’s words made Katherine show an innocent expression.

She wasn’t pretending to be mysterious; the reason she held the flashlight towards her face earlier was because she was afraid in such darkness she wouldn’t be seen.

Listening to Katherine’s explanation, Summer turned her head again to glance outside the car, not expecting this place to be even more remote and deserted than she imagined.

Yet Katherine had been waiting here for her for an hour.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t consider everything, asking you to do these things as a girl," Summer spoke to Katherine with some guilt.

Seeing her suddenly apologize, Katherine’s face showed a puzzled expression.

"What’s there to be sorry about?" she asked, confused.

"Aren’t you afraid?" Upon hearing this, Summer was taken aback and couldn’t help but ask back.

She waited here in this pitch-black place for so long without fear?

"Not at all." Katherine firmly shook her head, then added, "What’s there to be afraid of!"

Looking at Katherine’s carefree demeanor, Summer couldn’t help but be somewhat surprised.

"When I was little, I got used to living with uncertainty; it’s way scarier than this." Katherine chuckled, nonchalantly speaking, as if recounting an insignificant story.

She used to be afraid of darkness and ghosts when she was little, but later she got used to it and stopped being scared.

Listening to Katherine’s words, Summer was momentarily stunned, internally touched by the fact that this seemingly carefree girl was in fact more resilient than anyone.

"By the way, ma’am, you see, it’s that house up ahead, but the windows inside are likely sealed tight, not letting any light escape." At that moment, Katherine suddenly reached out, pointing into the dark direction outside as she explained.

Listening to her words, Summer widened her eyes, gazing out the car window towards the direction she pointed.

But... she could only discern the silhouettes of several houses in the distance under the faint starlight, seeing nothing else. Despite not seeing anything, Summer’s heart grew more conflicted.

This utterly desolate place, nobody would come here during the day, yet Noah Drexler appeared here in the dead of night.

Pondering, she couldn’t help but turn her head and ask Katherine.

"They haven’t come out at all?"

Katherine shook her head, "I’ve kept watch; that door hasn’t opened again."

Because the surrounding is pitch dark, if the door were opened, light would spill out. Therefore, she was utterly certain that the boss and Sean Morgan were still in there.

Listening to Katherine, Summer gently nodded and then gratefully glanced at Katherine.

"Thank you for your hard work, Katherine."

Katherine looked at her with concern and asked.

"Ma’am, what do you plan to do next?"

Isn’t she planning to go in and check the situation?

Upon hearing Katherine’s question, Summer suddenly fell silent, lowered her head, pondered for a good while, then raised her head to suddenly ask Katherine.

"Katherine, how’s your driving skills?"
