My Aloof Husband, Mr. Drexler, Dotes Me Excessively
Chapter 701: I Do!
Petals fell on the red carpet in front of them, on the hair and clothes of the bride and groom, beautiful like snowflakes...
Summer Shawcross reached out her hand, took Noah Drexler’s arm, and together, under the falling petals, they slowly walked up the red carpet, heading towards the center of the hall.
Noah’s grandfather sat in his wheelchair, watching as the couple slowly walked in.
On his aged face, the expression grew increasingly emotional.
The couple walked together to the end of the red carpet, following the wedding rituals from decades ago, with a priest standing there waiting for them.
As they approached, the priest recited the lines often featured in TV dramas from years past, part of a once-popular trend.
"Mr. Noah Drexler, do you take this woman beside you as your wife? To love her, to be faithful to her, in richness and in poverty, in sickness and in health, until death do you part. Do you?"
The man’s handsome face showed composure and calm, even if he wasn’t quite used to such elaborate ceremonies, but for her, he moved his lips and answered.
"I do."
The priest turned his head, looking at Summer Shawcross in her white dress, and asked.
"Miss Summer Shawcross, do you take this man as your husband? To love him, to be faithful to him, in richness and in poverty, in sickness and in health, until death do you part. Do you?"
...
As the priest asked this, Noah’s grandfather in the wheelchair became visibly more emotional.
One hand tightly holding the wheelchair, he stared intently at the bride, seeing in her Amber.
"I do!" A voice without hesitation rang out.
"I do." At that moment, Amber’s voice simultaneously echoed in his ears.
When he heard those three words, the light shone brightly in Noah’s grandfather’s eyes, and a tear fell.
Then... gradually dimmed again...
The years of obsession were let go as he lowered his hand, disappearing along with the words ’I do’ from this world.
...
"Congratulations, you are now officially married. The groom may kiss the beautiful bride." The priest’s voice followed.
Summer paused, not expecting this part, instinctively glancing at the many ’guests’ on both sides of the hall, showing a touch of embarrassment on her face.
All the Drexler Family’s servants, security, and staff were there.
Moreover, Sherry and Sean Morgan were standing aside, looking over towards them.
Just as Summer bit her lip, wanting to suggest skipping this part, the man suddenly raised his slender fingers and gently lifted her chin...
She was stunned, and as she shifted her gaze, the man had already lowered his head, pressing down towards her.
"Sir..." At this moment, in the hall, the butler’s sorrowful voice suddenly sounded.
Upon hearing this, Summer’s heart jolted, quickly turning her head in the direction of the butler’s voice.
In the wheelchair, Noah’s grandfather had already closed his eyes, his head tilted to the side.
Summer’s body trembled, freezing on the spot, staring straight at Noah’s grandfather in the wheelchair.
That old face carried a trace of a smile, an expression of utmost serenity—it was the kindest expression she’d ever seen on him...
She just hadn’t expected it to be under such circumstances.
His heart’s wish was finally fulfilled, so when he left, he should have been happy.
Confirming this, she felt some comfort in her heart, yet her throat felt a little choked.
