Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!

Chapter 612: Heaven Wants Me Dead? I Refuse to Submit!

  • Next Chapter

Cecilia Vaughn acted without hesitation. Just as she managed to pry open a small gap and was preparing to finish the task in one go, an enraged, aged female voice suddenly echoed from outside the door.

"What are you doing?! Where is Tiberius?"

"Didn’t I tell you to keep a close watch on him and not let him run about?!"

"Madam, Young Master Tiberius hasn’t gone missing; in fact, he’s right..."

The bodyguards were trembling with fear. They had planned to extract some benefits after Tiberius had his way with Cecilia, but they hadn’t expected Old Mrs. Trent to rush over as soon as she noticed Tiberius was missing!

...

Old Mrs. Trent was furious, pointing towards the direction of the room.

"Are you saying Tiberius is inside this wedding room?!"

"He wouldn’t have been bewitched by that woman, right? Dare give Reginald a green hat, is he out of his mind?!"

"..."

The bodyguards exchanged looks, unsure of how to respond.

Actually, Reginald Trent was already dead. If anyone was wearing a green hat, it would more appropriately be The Eldest Young Master Law, Cecilia’s real husband.

But no one would dare mention this in front of Old Mrs. Trent.

...

"Unlock the door! That vixen has no shame at all, causing my son to be utterly enthralled and now, marrying Reginald, she still wants to ruin Tiberius!"

Furious, Old Mrs. Trent marched to the wooden door and immediately ordered two bodyguards to open it.

Cecilia Vaughn had already overheard their conversation. She had just managed to open a small gap in the window, but it was too late to do anything now.

Initially, she planned to jump into the lake to save herself. After all, according to the makeup artist, she had over an hour before Old Mrs. Trent intended for her to be buried. But who would have thought that Tiberius’s disappearance would draw Old Mrs. Trent’s attention, completely ruining her plan.

Cecilia was burning with anxiety, all she could do was pull the unconscious Tiberius close, holding him hostage with a hairpin while cutting the window with a military knife.

Although anxious, Cecilia couldn’t afford even the slightest slack in her actions. Thankfully, all the window panes were made of pure wood, and possibly due to dampness and corrosion by the water, they had already loosened considerably.

...

When Cecilia Vaughn finally managed to break the window enough to squeeze through, the door was suddenly flung open!

Is the heavens against me!

These words flashed through Cecilia’s mind.

She could only sheath the knife and look outside with a vigilant expression.

"Don’t come any closer! One more step and I’ll stab this man to death!"

Old Mrs. Trent imagined she would see two shameless scoundrels in a roll of red tide as soon as she stepped in. Who could have guessed her nephew was just as incompetent as her son, failing even to subdue a drugged woman?

Seeing Tiberius unconscious and faint bloodstains on his neck, Old Mrs. Trent thought of her own son and flew into a rage, wishing she could pierce Cecilia with an eye-dagger.

"You wretched woman! Wasn’t ruining Reginald enough for you? Don’t think we’re easily scared!"

"Get forward already, capture this woman alive!"

Seeing Cecilia’s exquisite and beautiful face, Old Mrs. Trent’s jealousy deepened.

"No! It doesn’t matter if she dies, Cecilia! If you try anything else, I’d rather shoot you right now and send you straight to the King of Hell; after all, a ghost marriage doesn’t necessarily require a living bride!"

Cecilia didn’t expect Old Mrs. Trent to be so ruthless, but recalling how she had shot those two thugs before, she grew even more wary.

"Ha, try it. Let’s see if your shot’s accurate, or if I’m more precise using Tiberius as a human shield!"

"You!"

Reginald is indeed taller and bigger than Cecilia, and due to the indoor layout and ancient porcelains and screens surrounding them, it was difficult for the bodyguards to shoot from other angles.

Just as the standoff continued, Tiberius’s phone suddenly rang urgently.

When Cecilia saw the incoming call display, her heart lit up.

It was Adrian Law’s call!

But she couldn’t answer it now, or it would only expose more vulnerabilities to the enemy!

Cecilia understood this point clearly, but she didn’t forget to intimidate them.

"I’ve already sent my location to my husband, Old Mrs. Trent. I advise you to surrender, and you bodyguards, no matter how much Old Mrs. Trent is paying you, I can offer double!"

"Even if you kill me today, I’ve already exposed this matter to my husband and friends; it will be hard for you to deal with my body and disappearance. Only legal sanctions await you."

Cecilia didn’t believe these people weren’t afraid of jail.

Old Mrs. Trent might be mad over her son, but the others were just in it for the money. How many truly loyal, dedicated followers are there? They think they’re in a TV show or what?

...

Sure enough, as soon as Cecilia finished those words, the bodyguards’ gazes towards her weren’t as fierce, but instead, each of them hesitated.

If they switched sides now, they might get a lighter sentence, though the double pay Cecilia mentioned was too improbable despite their temptation.

Meanwhile, Old Mrs. Trent grew more and more enraged.

"You believe this woman’s lies?! If The Eldest Young Master Law really arrives, it would be everyone else unable to handle it, quickly subdue this woman, then bury her alive! That way, it would be all over!

"All over? In this room, there are so many of our fingerprints and DNA. Even if you set it ablaze, I don’t believe there wouldn’t be a single surveillance camera on nearby roads!"

...

Cecilia faintly heard a commotion and even gunfire outside the door.

Her heart skipped a beat, finding it hard to believe Adrian Law had arrived so quickly.

Being aware of her precarious situation as a likely target, Cecilia quickly shoved Tiberius out as the attention on the opposite side wavered!

As expected, those people instinctively went to catch Tiberius, while Cecilia, in those few brief seconds, like a fish, swiftly leaped out through the window and into the water!

...

Old Mrs. Trent grabbed hold of Tiberius, seeing that he was merely unconscious and not dead, she calmed down slightly. Little did she expect Cecilia to actually dare to jump into the lake!

"Capture her! Dead or alive!"

Upon plunging into the water, Cecilia’s first sensation was discomfort.

She had no other choice but to swim quickly, luckily Adrian had once taught her swimming.

As the sky flickered, and the water rippled, just as Cecilia was struggling desperately, a hail of bullets suddenly swept towards her.

"She’s in the water! Don’t let her escape!"

Cecilia’s heart raced, stunned at Old Mrs. Trent’s resolve!

Just as fear enveloped her, a fiercer exchange of fire roared, and a tall figure descended like divine intervention. Due to extended time submerged, deprived of oxygen, Cecilia’s pupils seemed to blur.

Only sensing... a red trail of blood spreading gradually through the water.

Who took that bullet for her?

Was it... Adrian?

A potent scent of blood spread relentlessly.

As dizziness overtook Cecilia, she finally lost consciousness completely...
