Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!

Chapter 613: A Centipede Dies but Never Falls

  • Next Chapter

Before losing consciousness, Cecilia vaguely saw a tall silhouette descend from the sky, accompanied by a strong scent of blood spreading around.

Was it Adrian?

She drifted into a daze, losing awareness as she finally succumbed to unconsciousness.

Meanwhile, the situation on the shore turned increasingly tense; even Cecilia’s brother, Evan Vaughn, arrived, disregarding his illness and shouted directly.

"Sister! Adrian! Are you guys okay?!"

Adrian Law plunged into the water, taking a gunshot to his left shoulder, but managed to avoid critical damage thanks to his timely evasion.

Despite this, Adrian remained focused, extending his uninjured right arm, grabbing the unconscious girl in the water, hauling her upward with all his might.

...

Having arrived hurriedly, Adrian didn’t bring many people, though their gear was the latest, with Wyatt Law and other bodyguards having undergone special training. Except for Evan Vaughn, who was determinedly left in the car, the others possessed formidable combat capabilities.

In no time, the situation began to come under control.

Especially those who initially entered the room with Old Mrs. Trent, whose morale Cecilia had swayed earlier. Their initial plan was to eliminate Cecilia discreetly to earn a fortune and start anew, oblivious that their plans would be exposed.

A man working under Old Mrs. Trent was the first to betray, tossing his gun aside and surrendering to Adrian Law with raised hands.

"Eldest Young Master Law, please spare me, I was forced into this!"

"Nick, you—"

Old Mrs. Trent was livid, nearly coughing up blood from rage.

Adrian, dragging Cecilia to the shore, gently laid the pale-faced young woman down, entirely ignoring his gunshot wound as he picked up a Zarthan Falcon and mercilessly aimed at Old Mrs. Trent’s ankle!

These years, due to the immense grief from her son Reginald Trent’s death, Old Mrs. Trent aged quickly, unable to withstand a gunshot, let alone continue to fight.

She immediately spat a mouthful of blood, collapsing unable to rise.

"Please! Don’t kill me..."

Adrian coldly glanced at Old Mrs. Trent.

"Hah, death is far too cheap a fate for you."

Hurting his woman; death was the least deserving of acts.

...

Adrian recalled the texts sent by Cecilia; initially, those two thugs impersonated Cecilia, saying she’d be late getting home, and he’d believed it.

After all, visiting her brother at Stellerton First High School was meant to be a heartfelt reunion. Chatting longer or dining out was entirely possible.

Who could have imagined, someone dared move against his wife within his jurisdiction!

And that person was none other than the one who had harmed Cecilia three years before — Old Mrs. Trent!

Adrian regretted not dealing with the matter more decisively, had he known Old Mrs. Trent would stir such trouble, he’d have crushed the Trent Family first.

Back when Cecilia was sentenced three years ago, Tyson Law and Fiona Vaughn discreetly pressured the Trent Family, avoiding implicating themselves.

The Trent Family Head was thus withdrawn from Stellerton University’s board, and their assets gradually declined, deteriorating over time. Hence, Adrian initially paid little mind to them.

However, the centipede dies but never falls.

Moreover, Old Mrs. Trent bore deep-seated hatred against Cecilia.

This animosity wasn’t something her imprisonment could erase.

...

Adrian regretted underestimating the situation, thus birthing hatred when looking at Old Mrs. Trent and her ragtag followers.

"Wyatt! Bind them all."

Wyatt, accompanying Adrian, had disarmed them early, then bound them thoroughly.

Evan Vaughn had lived a near-peaceful life, having never witnessed such a scene beyond TV shows or manga.

Earlier, worried sick for his sister’s safety, Evan trembled seeing everyone subdued, feeling deeply unsettled.

Evan Vaughn shakily descended from the SUV.

"Brother-in-law, is my sister okay?"

"No big issues, I’ve contacted Zion Prescott, and once he arrives, your sister will regain consciousness soon."

Adrian felt sharp pain radiating from his left shoulder; his face slightly pale at the misty lakeside, barely visible.

Learning Doctor Prescott was on his way, Evan found some relief.

Ever since visiting Prescott Hospital, Evan oddly regarded Zion Prescott as a living Divine Healer, assuring himself completely.

As long as one wasn’t doomed, Evan believed under Doctor Prescott’s care, they’d be fine.

...

Evan’s anxiety finally subsided a bit, suddenly noticing dark red marks on Adrian’s left shoulder suit jacket.

"Huh?!"

A closer glance spiraled Evan into shock.

"Brother-in-law! You’re injured!? Why didn’t you say earlier, were you hit by a bullet? What should we do?"

His forehead was drenched in sweat, fearing any trouble might befall Adrian.

Adrian’s head buzzed hearing Evan’s concern; were it not for Cecilia, he’d have silenced Evan outright.

Seeing Adrian’s slightly pale complexion, Evan realized he was excessively noisy.

Having lived eighteen years sheltered, Evan was like a naive rabbit, blinking through teary eyes, turning to Wyatt for help.

"Brother Wyatt, should we remove my brother-in-law’s bullet first?"

"It needs removal, for sure."

Wyatt’s face turned serious, shaking his head at Evan afterward.

"However, we lack suitable medical equipment here; forcibly removing the bullet may cause infection."

"Then..."

"Let’s await Doctor Prescott; being a private villa area, these Trent Family members likely have medical supplies."

Wyatt spoke, nodding respectfully at Adrian.

"Young Master, shall I investigate the villa?"

Adrian was about to nod when suddenly a girl, bound and mouth taped, struggled to whimper.

"Mm mm mm..."

"You want to speak?"

Adrian frowned.

The girl was Blossom, who earlier had done Cecilia’s makeup.

Unwilling to be dragged down by Old Mrs. Trent, Blossom sought redemption quickly.

After Adrian ordered his men to find medical gear, Blossom promptly spoke.

"I know where the anti-infection medical kits are, I can lead the way!"

Adrian gave her a cold stare, while Blossom worried she’d draw suspicion by standing out.

Amid her fears, Adrian gave an indifferent nod.

"Alright, lead the way."
