Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!

Chapter 611: Death Beneath the Peony Blossoms

  • Next Chapter

"How did your cheap brother Reginald Trent die, have you forgotten?"

Cecilia Vaughn’s expression was as cold as ice and snow, extremely beautiful yet deadly, her presence like a sharp dagger to the heart!

Tiberius Trent remembered his cousin, his cry for help suddenly lodged in his throat.

Right, how could he forget? Cecilia Vaughn had indeed dealt with human lives, she wasn’t the type to just scare others with a few words.

...

All humans have an instinct to cherish life; even with a one-in-a-million chance of escape, Tiberius Trent wouldn’t gamble with his life.

He looked at Cecilia Vaughn with a trembling gaze.

"Miss Vaughn, do you really have to go this far? How about I let the guards outside release you, and we can owe each other nothing?"

His voice was trembling as he spoke, barely daring to look at Cecilia Vaughn’s face.

Seeing his cowardly appearance, Cecilia Vaughn smiled like a soul-reaping demon, her smile shallow yet breathtakingly beautiful, accentuating the floral pattern on her forehead.

"Owe each other nothing, Young Master Tiberius? What is it you think you owe me?"

Cecilia Vaughn subtly indicated by looking at the hand of the man in front of Tiberius Trent brushing against her skin, her hairpin moving ever so slightly nearer to Tiberius’s carotid artery.

Though her control was precise enough not to seriously injure Tiberius, he felt a prickly pain, as if a trace of blood had oozed out.

"Spare me, heroine! I was wrong, I shouldn’t have taken liberties with you earlier!"

Looking at Cecilia Vaughn’s exquisitely beautiful face, Tiberius Trent had long lost the mood to admire her. They said it’s worth dying under a beautiful woman’s allure, but when beauty turns into a man-eating flower, who wouldn’t be afraid?

These filthy men, if they truly had to choose between a beauty and death, would naturally pick survival over bravery!

...

Yet, Cecilia Vaughn, seeing Tiberius Trent’s cowardly and timid demeanor, dared not let down her guard at all.

She had been pretending to be weak to lower the opponent’s alertness, but if this simpleton wasn’t as foolish as he seemed, things could get troublesome.

With a firm brow, Cecilia Vaughn’s voice was light but full of intimidation.

"Speak softly and don’t let the people outside hear us. Now, take out your phone."

"Huh?! What do you want my phone for?"

Bewildered, Tiberius Trent looked at Cecilia Vaughn, seemingly unable to grasp her thought process.

"Miss Vaughn, how about this: I’ll secretly let you out and pretend you escaped on your own. How does that sound?"

"Do you take me for a fool?"

Cecilia Vaughn looked at Tiberius Trent with the gaze of watching a pig.

"The window here may be near water, but it’s sealed shut. With our strength, we can’t open it. We have to use the front door to leave."

"The front door is full of Old Mrs. Trent’s people. Can you make me vanish like a magician?"

Cecilia Vaughn curled her lips indifferently, her smile laced with extreme sarcasm.

"Or do you think your life is too long? Hoping to lead me into your aunt’s trap?"

"I wouldn’t dare!"

Tiberius Trent immediately pleaded.

He shakily extended his hand, offering up his phone.

"You type."

"Huh?!"

Cecilia Vaughn dared not loosen her grip on the hairpin; multitasking was quite risky.

She wasn’t afraid of Tiberius Trent pulling any small tricks while holding the phone, but if she did it herself, she would be distracted and weak.

"Type this number, 137...8645..."

"Want me to call?"

Tiberius Trent swallowed hard, realizing that it was most likely Adrian Law’s number, feeling even more frightened.

"Miss Vaughn, if you do manage to escape, could you spare my life?"

"Stop wasting time!"

The people in this house, only that makeup artist inspired Cecilia Vaughn with the slightest inclination to spare her life. As for the others, Cecilia Vaughn looked at Tiberius Trent evasively.

"Quick, make the call, and keep your voice down."

For some reason, a busy signal came from Adrian Law’s number.

...

Cecilia Vaughn’s impatience deepened, but she couldn’t show it.

Immediately, she ordered Tiberius Trent to use his phone to locate this place precisely, using an app to provide a more reassuring location. If Tiberius Trent were deceiving her, it would be unclear, as at least modifying a true location via an app requires prior preparation, and based on Tiberius Trent’s demeanor, Cecilia Vaughn didn’t think he was that shrewd.

After sending the location to Adrian Law and her brother’s phone numbers,

Cecilia Vaughn still felt it wasn’t enough.

She pondered for a moment, estimating that Wyatt Law and Mona Summers were more likely to answer, just as she was about to have Tiberius make another call, suddenly a rush of footsteps approached from outside.

...

!!!

Oh no!

But it hasn’t even been two hours!

Cecilia Vaughn was unsure of what to do, seizing a moment while Tiberius Trent was unguarded, she delivered a strong strike to the back of his neck, knocking him out.

She didn’t have the impulse to kill this man directly; if the person outside was indeed Old Mrs. Trent, using Tiberius Trent as a hostage might have leverage, she wasn’t certain.

Cecilia Vaughn didn’t know Tiberius Trent’s status within the Trent Family, but she understood Mrs. Trent likely made terrifying decisions for her son, so she dared not take chances.

Right now, calling Mona Summers and Wyatt Law for help was impossible. Cecilia Vaughn immediately forwarded her location and name to both of them.

—Help! This is Cecilia Vaughn, come quickly to Amber Bay’s eastern pavilion.

Cecilia Vaughn finished sending just as footsteps outside came to a halt, seemingly speaking with the two bodyguards.

Could it be that it wasn’t Old Mrs. Trent?!

...

Cecilia Vaughn breathed a sigh of relief but didn’t dare relax.

The laughter outside grew louder.

"Hey, how come there’s no sound from Young Master Trent inside?! Should we take a look inside?"

"Come on, don’t disturb Young Master Tiberius’s fun. That bride was drugged before and brought here tied up; what trouble can she cause?"

Were they here to spectate or replace the shift as guards?

Cecilia Vaughn felt uncertain in her heart, after a thought, she suppressed her disgust and feigned a fearful voice.

"Young Master Tiberius... please don’t..."

The laughter outside indeed grew louder.

Cecilia Vaughn let out a sigh of relief, tying Tiberius Trent with rope while thinking of finding a way to break out through a window.

Suddenly, Cecilia Vaughn spotted a small Swiss army knife on Tiberius Trent’s pants, her eyes sparked with brightness. She noticed that the welded window was mostly wood, not necessarily so sturdy. With the application of force, she might be able to escape.
