"You really don’t have a girlfriend?" Eva Hayes asked again, still somewhat incredulous.

"No, the factory just started up, where do I find the time to date anyone?" Joseph Lancaster replied with a laugh.

Violet Zimmerman buried her head again, knowing it was just her uncle’s excuse because he had told her he wouldn’t fall for another woman.

Unconsciously, the corners of her lips lifted into a smile.

"Joseph, I’ll tell you, you can’t compare to our Michael in this regard. Our Michael manages work and love at the same time!"

Eva Hayes displayed a proud expression, casually placing one hand on her son’s shoulder, patting him gently while showing off.

"Before the year ended, Michael started dating the daughter of our city office director. The girl even asked someone to propose on her behalf. Twenty, by the New Year, they’ll be a perfect match for Michael!"

Eva Hayes always wanted to compete with the main house, whether it was her son’s marriage or having grandchildren, as if overshadowing the main house would benefit their second house in some way.

Lorelei Howard shot her an unhappy glance before retracting her gaze.

Eva Hayes continued to boast, "Michael said he’d bring the girl home on the third day of the new year."

Speaking of which, Eva Hayes deliberately glanced at Lorelei Howard, "Brother and Sister-in-Law, you two are Michael’s elders. You must help us scrutinize for Michael!"

"Don’t worry, we’ll be there when Joseph brings his girlfriend home. You and Arthur have to help us scrutinize for Joseph!" Lorelei Howard retorted, unwilling to back down.

Eva Hayes secretly pouted but replied with a smile, "Of course, we’re relatives, aren’t we? It goes without saying."

In fact, she secretly thought Joseph Lancaster only knew work and study, and feared this bookworm would never manage to find a wife in his lifetime!

Aurora Lancaster sat on the armrest of her parents’ sofa, checking the red envelopes. Each envelope contained ten banknotes, equivalent to two or three months’ salary for a worker.

Seeing so much cash, Aurora Lancaster secretly rejoiced as she returned the banknotes to the envelope. Before she could stash them away, Joseph Lancaster took them back.

"Second Brother, what are you doing!" Aurora Lancaster protested unhappily, as the money she’d been about to pocket vanished, leaving her slightly grudging.

"What do you mean? It’s Grandpa’s New Year money for me, of course I should keep it in my pocket!" Joseph Lancaster said, holding onto the envelope, a hand raised to his lips as he coughed a few times.

Across the room, Violet Zimmerman pursed her lips again, knowing her uncle caught a cold because of her.

"Humph, stingy!"

Aurora Lancaster huffed in discontent, "You already have your own company, and you’re still so tight-fisted!"

Joseph Lancaster didn’t respond, instead pulling two red envelopes from his cotton jacket, getting up and moving over to Daemon Lancaster and his wife, handing an envelope to Maximilian Lancaster. "Maximilian, here’s your red envelope from Uncle. Save it for candy."

"Maximilian, quickly thank your uncle." Victoria Thornton urged with a smile.

Maximilian Lancaster took the envelope, loudly saying, "Thank you, Uncle!"

"Mm, good boy."

Joseph Lancaster patted Maximilian Lancaster’s head before turning to head over to his brother and sister-in-law, handing the other envelope over.

"Brother, Sister-in-Law, this is for Robert. You two keep it safe for him."

The envelope Joseph Lancaster gave to Robert was noticeably less stuffed than the one for Maximilian Lancaster; Violet Zimmerman looked at the outstretched envelope, hesitating to take it.

"Take it, it’s Joseph’s gesture." Daxton Lancaster accepted it and handed it to Violet Zimmerman, who hesitated for a moment before quietly saying thank you and accepting the envelope.
