In the morning, Violet’s fever had completely subsided.

Thanks to timely medication, Daxton was also almost recovered.

The couple did a simple wash-up and carried Robert Lancaster into the elder’s room to pay respects to the older generation for New Year.

Sick, the couple got up late, and by the time they arrived at the elder’s room, almost all members of the Lancaster family were present.

"Daxton, why did you and Violet come so late? It’s the first day of the New Year, how can you be lazy?"

Lorelei was displeased and blamed.

Daxton sat Violet on a single sofa, and also perched on the armrest, smilingly, "Mom, Violet’s not feeling well, didn’t you see that yesterday!"

At this mention, Lorelei suddenly exclaimed, "Right, after the fifth day, take Violet to the hospital for a check-up, see if she’s expecting again!"

"Mom, that’s too soon; Violet caught a cold but she’s recovered after taking medicine." Daxton caressed Robert’s cheek, showing slight helplessness.

"Oh, I see." Lorelei leaned back again, her disappointment written all over her face.

Sitting nearby, Arthur Saunders, although silent, also slightly furrowed his eyebrows upon hearing the daughter-in-law wasn’t pregnant.

From the other sofa, Eva Hayes shoved a handful of peanuts into Victoria Thornton’s hand, "Victoria, eat something to settle your stomach, otherwise, you’ll be vomiting later."

Lorelei glanced over displeased but ignored.

Violet buried her head, teasing her son, still annoyed about last night’s matter; because she vomited, Daxton acted like that toward her. Although he apologized and admitted his mistake afterward, some hurts remain and can’t be erased by remorse.

The elder was helped down the stairs by a servant, and as he arrived in the living room, almost everyone in the Lancaster family stood up, watching him step by step down with respect.

"Dad, Happy New Year!"

"Grandfather, Happy New Year!"

Seeing the harmonious family sitting together, the elder smiled broadly, continually nodding with satisfaction, "Mm-hmm, good, very good, Jade, quickly distribute the red packets."

"Yes, elder." Jade answered respectfully, helping him down the stairs, then handed out the prepared red packets one by one.

After distributing, there was still one envelope left over.

"Why is there one left over?"

Jade was a bit confused as the packets were prepared by headcount.

"Give it to me, I’ll take it to my second brother!" Aurora Lancaster raised her hand, just after speaking, Lorelei noticed second son Joseph hadn’t come over.

"What’s Joseph up to? It’s so late, yet he hasn’t come over, we’re about to have breakfast!"

"Ahem, Mom, I’m here now!" Joseph’s voice sounded at the door, fist against his lips lightly coughing a few times, looking a bit haggard.

"Second Brother, come clean! What mischief were you up to last night? Did you secretly go on a date? Look at you, your eyes look like a panda!"

Aurora ran over, grabbed Joseph’s arm, pulling down his fist from his lips.

Joseph looked up with phoenix eyes at her, appearing somber with noticeable dark circles.

"Joseph, did you get a girlfriend?" This time, Eva spoke up.

"Second Mom, don’t listen to Aurora’s nonsense!" Joseph chuckled, walking over to the sofa to sit in front of his parents.

Violet lifted her gaze, secretly watching him, her lips involuntarily pursed; just one night and his face had slimmed significantly.
