Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1655 - 1633: Wherever My Eyes Fall, There Lies Eternity – Think of Me for a Few Minutes Every Day (3000+)_2
As soon as Joseph Lancaster finished speaking, Violet Zimmerman let out a dissatisfied huff.
"Hmph, aren’t all men the same? Only a fool would believe the things said on the bed!"
After Violet Zimmerman spoke, Joseph Lancaster found it even more ridiculous, and he pretended to ask in confusion.
"Oh? Are men all the same at that time? Which man has ever promised you something in bed?"
Violet Zimmerman suddenly realized what she had blurted out in anger!
She looked up at Joseph Lancaster, her face flushed red with embarrassment, and after a long while, finally squeezed out a sentence, "You scoundrel!"
How could he bring up such a thing openly?
In front, Joseph Lancaster’s joyful laughter echoed, sounding particularly clear in the silent night.
But in Violet Zimmerman’s ears, it sounded different, as if it were mocking her.
She buried her head again, her eyes turning red with grievance, and her voice was full of grievance too, "I know I don’t have much ability, so none of you like me. It was the same at my parents’ house and after marrying into the Lancaster Family too."
"Why are you crying now?" Joseph Lancaster frowned helplessly. Just a joke, and it could make her cry. This woman, when did she become so full of sorrow and sentiment!
"It’s none of your business! You’re not anyone to me!" Violet Zimmerman’s words carried obvious emotion.
The black Hongqi car stopped once again, Joseph Lancaster sat in the driver’s seat, looking at the woman who kept her head down through the rearview mirror, he pursed his thin lips, opened the door, and sat in the back.
As his slender fingers just landed on Violet Zimmerman’s waist, she visibly moved aside, without uttering a word. Originally, it was just that her eyes were red, but as soon as Joseph Lancaster approached, tears immediately fell down.
"Don’t cry, I was just teasing you." Joseph Lancaster’s thumbs landed on Violet Zimmerman’s face, wiping away two drops of her tears.
"You go drive, don’t bother about me," because of the grievance, Violet Zimmerman’s mouth had already pursed into the shape of a little bird’s tail.
"How can I be at ease to drive when you’re like this!"
Joseph Lancaster sighed helplessly, gently brushing away the tears that flowed again. He said, "Violet, even if you don’t want to admit it, it doesn’t change the fact that I’m Robert’s father.
You are my woman, Robert is my son, how could I possibly ignore the two of you."
Violet Zimmerman said nothing, silently shedding tears.
"Fool, isn’t my attitude clear enough for you that it makes you feel so insecure."
Joseph Lancaster cupped Violet Zimmerman’s face, perhaps his heart was moved, or maybe her tear-streaked appearance made him ache. His thin lips pressed forward, gently kissing the tears from her face into his mouth.
As the kiss turned passionate, Joseph Lancaster sidestepped, stepped down from the seat, and moved the child between them onto the freed-up space.
He leaned forward, pressing Violet Zimmerman against the car window.
"Joseph..." sensing something was about to ignite, Violet Zimmerman murmured in a panic.
"Mmm," a monosyllabic sound escaped from Joseph Lancaster’s nostrils, Violet was already pressed beneath him, and their position was a bit awkward.
Violet Zimmerman’s head leaned against the car window, her body half-lying, her legs pulled and separated by Joseph Lancaster, his not-so-strong body squeezed in between her.
His fingers intertwined with Violet Zimmerman’s, entwining with her fingers during the kiss, tightening again and again, and his waist gently grazed, letting her feel his heartbeat.
"Violet, I will stay faithful to you, for a lifetime..."
A soft whisper echoed in the darkness, Joseph Lancaster’s thin lips wandering over Violet Zimmerman’s face, lips, and neck, "Keep a place for me in your heart too, even if it’s just a small corner,"
"Okay," a word slipped out without her mind’s permission.
Violet Zimmerman felt as if she had been drinking, dazed, her thoughts no longer under control, and her body weak, wanting to withdraw her hand held tightly by her uncle, but she couldn’t muster any strength.
Taking advantage of the remaining sanity, Joseph Lancaster pulled back a little, still maintaining the stance over Violet Zimmerman, looking directly into her eyes, saying, "Violet, could you think of me for a few minutes each day? Just a few minutes, that way, I’ll know I’m not the only one thinking."
Facing her uncle’s affectionate eyes, Violet Zimmerman couldn’t bring herself to refuse, biting her lip and hesitating a bit, "Okay."
Joseph Lancaster smiled, the curve of his lips spreading across his flattering eyes, "I’m no longer in a one-sided love!"
"Cough, wah... wah..."
Robert Lancaster’s cries suddenly rang out, and Joseph Lancaster realized his son was quite adept at ruining the mood, propping himself up on his arm and sitting sideways, picking up the little troublemaker.
"Cough, hoo wah..." The little guy cried with grievance, as if he were hungry.
Joseph Lancaster handed the child to Violet Zimmerman, "The son might be hungry, feed him."
Violet Zimmerman’s gaze shied away, taking the child, lifting her garment, and Joseph Lancaster returned to the driver’s seat, looked forward, took a deep breath, and then stepped on the gas.
They stopped twice on the way, and when they got home, it was already ten o’clock at night.
As the black car slowly drove into the Lancaster Family’s gate, Violet Zimmerman’s heart tensed up as well.
If her husband Daxton Lancaster knew it was her uncle who drove her back, she wondered if he would be upset.
However, Violet Zimmerman was also aware that even if Daxton Lancaster was displeased, at most, he would torment or perhaps hit her, but he wouldn’t kick her out, leaving her with nowhere to go.
Hearing Violet Zimmerman’s soft sigh, Joseph Lancaster also sighed silently.
No matter how much he loved or cared, she was after all the rightful wife of his brother, at night with closed doors he couldn’t protect her, though he had thought about discussing with his brother, he was more worried once the matter was exposed, would it backfire.
He had culture, he had capability, yet he couldn’t protect his own woman.
This was Joseph Lancaster’s greatest regret in life.
