Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride
Chapter 1653 - 1632: Wherever My Eyes Fall, There Lies Eternity: I Only Want You to Belong to Me
Joseph Lancaster spoke indifferently; a cultured and polite man was being so cutting for the first time.
The mother of his child was being ostracized by her relatives, so all his courtesy and deferential manners were fed to the dogs.
The Lancasters were all looking embarrassed. Joseph Lancaster held a bag in one hand while gently supporting Violet Zimmerman’s shoulder with the other, "Let’s go, sister-in-law."
"Wait a minute!"
Just as they reached the door, Lucy Zimmerman blocked them.
Lucy stood in the middle of the doorway, arms outstretched and chin raised in defiance, questioning sternly, "Joseph Lancaster, what have you taken me for? You tricked me into coming back, saying you would propose to my parents, but it was all just to take your sister-in-law back! Today, you must be clear with your words! You’re not going anywhere until you do!"
"Lucy!" Dylan Zimmerman’s displeased voice rang out, and Eleanor Duncan and Natalia Zabinski both let out a light snort.
"Get over here! Haven’t you embarrassed yourself enough?" Everyone says you’re a nobody, yet you’re still flaunting yourself here!
"I won’t! He’s not going anywhere until he makes himself clear!" Lucy stubbornly retorted.
"Lucy, step aside, don’t cause trouble." Aria Williams reached out to pull Lucy’s arm, lowering her voice as she advised.
"Auntie, step aside, this has nothing to do with you!" Lucy pushed Aria aside.
Knox and Gideon Zimmerman both sighed impatiently, and just as Gideon got up to drag her away, Joseph Lancaster spoke word for word, "I’ve never regarded you as anything. If it weren’t for my sister-in-law, you wouldn’t even be able to step through the Lanctester’s door."
After saying this, Joseph Lancaster turned his eyes coldly, "Uncle, Auntie, our Lancaster Family may be hospitable, but we don’t welcome just anyone. When you can’t even tolerate your own daughter, why should our family support a freeloader for you?"
"Knox, Gideon, are you dead? Get me Lucy!" Dylan Zimmerman finally couldn’t hold it in any longer and shouted angrily.
Gideon was sitting close to the door; he got up and tossed aside the girl blocking the way. Lucy was still indignant and was about to step forward to continue blocking, but Knox grabbed her by the shoulders and threw her onto the kang.
The words were spoken so bluntly, it was equivalent to tearing apart their relationship. Joseph Lancaster held his bag with one hand and put his arm around Violet Zimmerman’s shoulders, striding out.
"Tsk tsk, this brother-in-law is really imposing. If you didn’t know better, you’d think he was Violet’s husband," Eleanor Duncan said with a pout towards the door.
Knox Zimmerman also shouted sternly, "You useless woman! Shut up for me!"
With a bang, Joseph Lancaster slammed the car door shut, shutting out the chaotic noise of the Zimmerman Family.
Looking ahead, Joseph Lancaster’s eyes were noticeably cold. He started the engine, asking, "Why didn’t you call your brother to come pick you up?"
Violet Zimmerman sat in the back seat holding her son, bowed her head, and said dejectedly, "Daxton said he was busy."
The black car slowly started, not as fast as when it arrived, but rather smoothly drove into the night.
"What happened last night?" Joseph Lancaster asked. Although it was a question, the tone was certain.
At the mention of last night, Violet’s heart surged with emotions again. She pursed her lips and murmured, "When the power went out, Daxton stayed in Lucy’s room the whole time. Later... I saw him pin Lucy down on the bed."
A sigh came from Joseph Lancaster, filled with helplessness, "You know your brother couldn’t do anything!"
"But I just don’t feel comfortable." Violet said, holding her child, one hand unconsciously scratching at the seat beneath her.
Joseph Lancaster sighed even more helplessly, "Why don’t you have any confidence in yourself? Anyone with eyes wouldn’t choose that silly relative of yours!"
"But Daxton kissed her, I saw it with my own eyes." Violet felt deeply wronged, biting her lip, her voice even more subdued.
Another sigh, and Joseph Lancaster suddenly hit the brakes, opened the driver’s door and got out. In Violet’s puzzled gaze, he was already sitting beside her, raised a hand to clasp the back of her head, and kissed her.
He had sworn countless times, warned himself it was enough to just watch her happiness from afar, but whenever he saw her being wronged, he couldn’t help but want to give her warmth.
The kiss was gentle, soothing, lingering yet tender. Joseph Lancaster’s warm lips softly wrapped around Violet’s, one after another, until she couldn’t help but respond, with no intention of stopping.
When the kiss ended, Joseph Lancaster still held the back of Violet’s head, their foreheads against each other, as they could only see each other’s eyes glistening in the darkness.
"Don’t be jealous of people who don’t matter, okay?"
Joseph Lancaster’s gentle voice sounded husky, tinged with a taste of desire.
A man in his early twenties was in the age of youthful impulsiveness, and not doing more was already a sign of restraint.
"If you get jealous at every little sign of intimacy between men and women, Violet, then think here,"
Joseph Lancaster’s other hand fell on Violet’s chest, though it rested there, it had no indecent intent.
"Day and night, every hour and moment, wouldn’t I be soaking in the vinegar jar?"
This was the first time Joseph Lancaster directly called Violet’s name, revealing his helplessness. In the darkness, Violet could clearly feel his disappointment.
"Joseph, you..." Violet just began to speak, but Joseph Lancaster silenced her again, his hand falling on her back, squeezing it with force. It was the emotion he had to suppress.
"Violet, what should I do... I always tell myself just seeing you makes me content, but now... I want you to belong solely to me..."
Joseph Lancaster’s intermittent words came through amidst their lips and teeth, the kiss growing more intense, marking his helplessness and regret at being unable to love her.
"Violet, I want you and your son... Every night I dream of you both, dreaming of the three of us happily living together..."
"Joseph, I’m your sister-in-law..." Violet’s voice was like a murmur, barely audible by the end, "We shouldn’t..."
