Miss Witch, It's Time to Clean the Entries
Chapter 124 - 107: The Real Rich Woman
Chapter 124: Chapter 107: The Real Rich Woman
A miss is as good as a mile.
Just as the Green Shade Territory’s army entered the High Wall, the vanguard from Yusofa, which bordered the Blue Moon Territory, also arrived outside the High Wall.
This army originally belonged to Yusofa, but it was now under the command of Lady Mary, the Lord of Rose Territory.
They had been secretly monitoring everything happening in the Blue Moon Territory and had even bribed a Priest from the Church Court.
So, the moment the Blue Moon Territory was completely cleansed of the corruption, they received the news and mobilized their entire force.
They had only one objective: to stop Catherine from succeeding as the Lord of Blue Moon Territory.
If Catherine became the true Lord, Mary’s army would lose its veneer of righteousness. Their invasion would transform from an act of "helping the Jackson Family reclaim Blue Moon Territory" into blatant plunder.
Therefore, Mary would never allow that to happen.
The moment she received the news, she dispatched Yusofa’s army to intercept Catherine, and also sent a large number of Assassins.
These Assassins had a single objective: to assassinate Catherine.
In truth, Mary hadn’t expected that Lian, a descendant of the Moria Clan, would be able to deal with Dora ahead of schedule, press the Church Court to complete the cleansing, and move into the Blue Moon Territory in such a short time.
Her intelligence officer, Nancy Scalia, was severely punished for this.
Not only was she demoted one rank, but she also had to endure a lashing from Mary.
Khrish, the general from Yusofa, had been given a death order: if he failed to stop Catherine’s succession, not only would he die, but Mary would not spare a single member of his family.
Khrish frowned as he watched the large army bearing the sigil of the Green Shade Territory enter the High Wall.
His troops were quickly stopped by Kroli’s soldiers.
"You are not to enter the Blue Moon Territory without permission."
Kroli’s face was grim and his tone absolute as he blocked the armored Khrish with his Long Spear.
"Don’t misunderstand. We are vassals of the Jackson Family. Upon hearing the news of Miss Catherine’s return, we naturally must enter the territory to celebrate."
Khrish said.
Yusofa had once managed to survive between the major territories of Blue Moon and Rose by pledging allegiance to Blue Moon. But that was ancient history; they were now a vassal territory of Rose Territory.
However, Mary’s current husband was Lorne Jackson.
In a sense, it wasn’t wrong to say that Yusofa was still a vassal of the Jackson Family.
"You can’t bring your army."
Kroli stated coldly.
"Fine. I’ll just bring my Knight Order."
General Khrish of Yusofa wanted to bring his Knight Order into Blue Moon Territory, as many Assassins were hidden among them.
If these Assassins succeeded, it would be a major accomplishment for him.
Besides, his army of 5,000 was nothing compared to the Green Shade Territory’s 10,000-strong legion.
He might as well settle for the next best thing: bringing in his Elite Knight Order and the Assassins.
It was a tradition in the Holy Empire for nobles to be allowed to bring their personal Knight Order when entering another Lord’s fief. Even the old soldier Kroli could not stop this.
Thus, Khrish led his 50-man Knight Order and followed the Green Shade Territory’s army into the High Wall.
Khrish spurred his horse, accelerating continuously until he caught up with the luxurious carriage at the very front of the procession.
The carriage was decorated with the joint sigil of Blue Moon Territory and Green Shade Territory. It was a carriage Lian had specially commissioned for Catherine.
This carriage also symbolized the deep friendship between the two territories.
"Miss Catherine, I am Khrish of Yusofa. Do you remember me?"
Catherine had no memory of Khrish, as she had lived in the High Tower for as long as she could remember.
Her Maid, Mina, reminded her in a low voice, "Miss Catherine, Yusofa was once a vassal of our Blue Moon Territory. Khrish is a general from Yusofa. After the Yusofa family’s assets were seized by Lady Mary, he pledged his allegiance to her and became Yusofa’s Governor. Governor Khrish is fifty-seven years old this year. His first wife was your aunt, so he is a relative of yours."
Mina was born into nobility and had spent her childhood moving in the aristocratic circles of Blue Moon Territory. Through constant exposure, she had gained a deep understanding of the political situation and important figures around Blue Moon Territory.
This was also why Old Lord Jackson had left Mina with Catherine.
He had likely foreseen that this day would come.
Lian looked at the Maid, Mina, in surprise. He hadn’t expected her to have, on top of being a weak and helpless wallflower and a well-behaved, sensible Maid, just a *little* bit of value.
’Sure enough, none of the Maids who serve nobles are simple, ignorant girls.’
’They either possess extensive knowledge, or absolute beauty, or are nobles themselves.’
’Mina’s looks were average, and she had many freckles on her face, but she could compensate for Catherine’s shortcomings in interpersonal relationships.’
Seeing the surprised look in Lian’s eyes, Mina felt a sense of affirmation and her cheeks flushed slightly.
Whenever she saw Lian now, she felt a sense of shame.
The scene in the Golden Forest where she had wanted to offer herself to him was still vivid in her mind.
She had already secretly sworn never to be alone with Lian again; it was just too embarrassing.
Catherine nodded slightly and said to Khrish outside the window,
"Uncle Chris, I remember you. My aunt was your first wife. Thank you for bringing your Knight Order to swear fealty."
Khrish was taken aback for a moment, but decided to go along with what Catherine said.
"The Jackson Family has many other vassals. They were outside the territory before the disaster struck. If you need, I can recall all of them."
Theoretically, for Catherine to inherit the title of Lord of Blue Moon Territory, the succession ceremony required not only the presence of the Church Court, but also the witness of the majority of the Jackson Family’s vassals.
