Chapter 123: Chapter 106: Pandora’s Magic Box 2

"I know, Dora. I know all of it. He’s a man of the Moria Clan, but he’s not like the other Morias. I can feel his respect and love for me."

Lian listened to Catherine’s words and nodded incessantly.

’That’s right. I’m not like the other Morias. I would never take so many wives. I’ll respect my wife, and I would never sacrifice her to a Gift.’

"Has he told you he loves you?"

Dora asked.

"No."

Catherine’s voice grew a little quieter.

Lian began to reflect. ’Hmm, I actually haven’t confessed to Catherine yet. I really dropped the ball on that one.’

"Are there no other women around him?"

Dora asked again.

"There are."

Catherine’s voice became even quieter.

"Then what’s the difference between him and the other Morias?"

Dora pressed on.

Catherine seemed to have lost her ground for rebuttal. Recalling the looks the noble girls in the Green Shade Territory gave Lian, she felt it was only a matter of time before he was pounced on.

She wasn’t a very confident girl, having been locked in the High Tower for so long, after all.

"See? You can’t even say it yourself."

Dora spread her hands.

Lian frowned. ’It seems Catherine still has a deep misunderstanding about the women around me.’

’I have to find a chance to tell her that my relationships with Sophie, Anna, and Annie are purely platonic. Nothing has... escalated.’

"Once, when we were lying together, Lian told me that I was his first woman. I don’t think he was lying to me. That alone makes him different from the other Morias."

Catherine said, her face blushing.

To convince her best friend, she had revealed her most private secrets.

This piqued Dora’s interest immensely.

"Oh, heavens! My conservative Catherine, you two have already slept together!"

"Yes, but it was a special situation. We were in the Golden Forest at the time, and we thought we might not make it out alive. We just wanted to give the best of ourselves to each other."

’Yes, it was indeed a special situation. Catherine initiated it. Otherwise, a proper man like me would never force an elegant lady to perform... those actions.’

Lian’s mind replayed the events in the Golden Forest, and he suddenly felt the urge to drag Dora out of his fiancée’s tent, slip inside himself, and relive that old dream.

"I might... not be as conservative as I thought. Ever since then, I’ve even found myself thinking about that sort of thing every day."

Catherine said shyly.

Dora asked in surprise, "Is Lian amazing in that department?"

"Yes, he’s amazing."

Having received his fiancée’s affirmation, Lian’s confidence soared.

’Yes, I really am amazing.’

When Dora heard Catherine’s reply, her heart bled.

It was like watching the prized cabbage she had cultivated for so many years get ravaged by a pig.

She had watched with her own eyes as Catherine blossomed from a child into a young woman.

She felt that no man in this world was worthy of her Catherine.

But now, Catherine’s shy and blissful expression clearly proved her wrong.

She had grown up and found where she belonged.

This made Dora feel both lost and melancholic.

’What will I do in the future? Have I lost Catherine forever?’

"Dora, no matter who my future husband is, you will always be my best friend, my dearest sister. I will never forget you, and I will never abandon you."

Catherine took Dora’s hand.

The dejected Dora came back to her senses. "Really?"

"Of course."

"Then what if... and I’m just saying, what if I liked Lian Moria too?"

Dora asked.

Catherine paused for a moment. "If that were the case, it would be wonderful. We could marry the same man. We would still be together forever."

’Hey, hey, hey! What about your values?’

Lian’s head ached. He hadn’t expected Catherine to be so generous. Just how deep was the bond between her and Dora?

"You silly girl, Witches can’t get married. Besides, there’s no way I could ever like Lian Moria. I would never fall in love with a man from the Moria Clan. They’re the kind of males who would show off women like they’re trophies on a wall. And he even called me Magic Box!"

Dora’s words made Catherine laugh.

Lian also breathed a sigh of relief.

He didn’t want Dora to cause a rift between him and Catherine.

’As everyone knows, hitting on your girlfriend’s best friend never ends well.’

’I may be a scumbag, but even I have my limits.’

"Catherine, I’m so happy for you. You’ve found a man who is willing to do anything for you."

Dora said with deep emotion.

"How do you two plan to face Mary’s wrath?"

"I will first enter the Blue Moon Territory and inherit the position of Lord. Even if Mary returns with her brother, it won’t change the fact that I will have become the Lord. If she wants to start a war then, we will have an army of 200,000."

Catherine said seriously.

The rest of their conversation became dull, and Lian lost interest in eavesdropping.

Since his fiancée was discussing serious matters with her best friend, he figured he should go do something serious as well.

For example, urging Old Deng, the Grand Priest from the Church Court, to hurry up with the cleanup, to avoid any complications from delays. It would be best if the army could station itself within the High Wall by tomorrow.

And so, Grand Priest Cosme Pizarro, who had already gone to bed, was forcefully dragged up by Lian.

"Grand Priest Kossem, this is terrible! I had a dream! The God of Tiger warned us that we must finish cleansing the contamination tonight, or disaster will befall us!"

In this world, aside from Lian, probably no one else would dare to fake a divine oracle.

So the Grand Priest scrambled out of bed almost without a second thought. "Where is my robe?"

The young attendant immediately draped the Divine Robe over the Grand Priest.

Lian didn’t even acknowledge the fact that they were both lying in the Grand Priest’s bed.

Lian Moria couldn’t care less about such details.

He believed that Cosme Pizarro, having been caught in the act, wouldn’t care either.

’Only the thick-skinned can go far in this world.’

Grand Priest Cosme Pizarro entered the High Wall with the Priests, as Lian had relayed a divine oracle, and there could be no slacking.

Even the men of the Polestar Knight Order were woken up to work overtime.

Hickman was very unhappy about this. "Why would the great God of Tiger enter Lian Moria’s dream? Why not deliver the oracle directly to the Grand Priest? I think we’ve been played."

"No, Lord Hickman, you can’t say that. It is the great God of Tiger’s freedom to enter whomever’s dream He wishes. We are merely Believers and should obey God’s arrangements one hundred percent."

Grand Priest Cosme Pizarro was thankful that the God of Tiger had passed the oracle to Lian Moria, because he himself had been busy "purifying" the male and female twin attendants all night.

He didn’t want to be disturbed while doing such things. Hmm, being disturbed by a god wouldn’t be good either.

No matter how devout he was.

While the people from the Church Court were working overtime, Lian went into the Priests’ temporary chapel to rest.

He slept very well that night.

In the early morning, he snuck into his fiancée’s tent, intending to... exchange some experiences, but he found Dora was also in the bed, so he had to give up on the idea.

He decided to arrange a separate room for Miss Magic Box.

Morning mist filled the air as the first rays of sunlight shone through. A golden light pierced the thin fog, illuminating the High Wall of the Blue Moon Territory.

The city gates opened slowly. The thud of heavy footsteps and the clang of colliding armor echoed in the quiet morning.

The soldiers, clad in Battle Armor and holding long spears, wore solemn expressions. They formed neat ranks and entered the High Wall in an orderly fashion under Lian’s lead.

The deserted city immediately burst into life.

Catherine sat in a luxurious carriage, looking out the window at the familiar Blue Moon Territory, her eyes filled with complex emotions.

She had once yearned for this place with all her being, once hated it with a passion, and once returned here countless times in her dreams.

Today, it had all become reality, yet it made her feel as if she were still in a dream, a sense of unreality washing over her.

Dora sat beside her, reached out, and took her hand.

Lian pried Dora’s hand away and took Catherine’s hand himself.

Dora pouted. "What a jealous man. You even get jealous over something like this?"

"Catherine, I love you like I love the morning sun and the stars, the mountains and the rivers. I can’t promise my love will last for eternity, because I only have a few short decades to live. I can only promise that while I’m alive, I will do my best to satisfy you and make you feel happy and content."

Lian spoke the most beautiful words of love, making Dora, who was sitting to the side, break out in goosebumps all over.

’She had a feeling this damn man was doing it on purpose.’

’She wondered if he had overheard her conversation with Catherine yesterday.’

Catherine was moved beyond words and threw herself into Lian’s arms.

"Lian, I love you too."
