(Author’s POV)

"Myra, it’s me who should answer your questions, not them," Garry spoke, breaking the heavy silence. Unlike before, his voice wasn’t trembling anymore. She shifted her gaze onto him and waited, her face a mask of indifference, yet her stomach churned with anxiety. She had a feeling that whatever he was going to say next would turn her world upside down.

He began, his voice strained, "I~ ...." he paused, clearing his throat, then continued, "I was there at the hospital, on the day you were born. I was the one who ordered the abduction of you."

Myra’s whole body went rigid. Cold chills ran down her neck and back as her face was awash with sheer disbelief. Her hazels dilated, but she didn’t utter a single word; she couldn’t. Meanwhile, Garry continued, "I paid someone to kidnap you. They made a mistake and picked Nora with you." He said this while looking at Brave and Elio, who were gritting their teeth; their hands balled.

Myra’s fists tightened on either side as well. She was trying to hold back tears and her emotions. With a shaken voice, she asked, "Wh~y? Why would you do that? What did I~ ... even do to you? I was just an infant. So, why?"

"Because~ .... that was the only thing I could do to save you at that time," he replied.

"Save me? Save me from whom?" Myra posed another question as her chest rose and fell heavily; a lump formed in her throat as she tried to restrain herself from crying.

Garry looked down at his veiny hands, then met her eyes again. "From your biological father, Denver Brooks and from those monsters who wanted to use you for their evil deeds."

He recited every single detail of the past: how he got involved with those corrupt people. How meticulously they planned and executed the creation of a miracle baby who could provide them with the life elixir, ’gold blood.’ How every other option failed and how, in the end, they trapped her innocent birth mother, Amelia Clinton. He left nothing out and told them everything truthfully.

With every word, Myra’s heart dropped as if she were plunging into an abyss. The dreams, the visions she had seen in her sleeping state about the young Amelia surged into her brain one after another. ’Denver Brooks, the man I had seen in my dreams a couple of times- that person is my father, and he betrayed my mother all to have my blood? He~ .... he was a scammer from the start?’ She recalled Amy’s devastated, vulnerable state when she reminisced about her past.

"Why didn’t you tell her anything? You could have told her the truth back then," Myra was talking about Amelia. "She could have been saved from those people if you had done so."

"I~ ... I wanted to warn your mother. I even tried approaching her once, telling her about Denver’s vicious schemes by sending her an anonymous letter. But before she could read it completely, her sister took it away and threw it. She told her that someone was trying to frame Denver, and he was not that kind of person. Unfortunately, your mother was so in love with that scoundrel and trusted her sister and didn’t pry. She didn’t suspect a thing. After that, they isolated her from everyone else and didn’t let her leave the house even for a single minute," Garry told her, regret dripping from his tone as he recalled that time. "She only came out of that prison like house because her water broke earlier than expected. Neither Denver nor those wicked people were available on that day. Only your mother’s sister, Victoria Clinton, who was also an accomplice, was with her. They had planned to take Ms. Amelia to a clinic they had already prepared. But~ .... due to her urgent condition, she was admitted to a nearby public hospital." He revealed.

Myra’s eyes brimmed with impending tears as she batted her lashes. Her nose turned red, stinging. The names Garry had told her- Amelia, Victoria, Denver- they had all appeared in her visions.

"But~ .... you kidnapped Nora and me and then abandoned us to fend for ourselves?" she mumbled another question.

"No, no~ ... no~ ... no~ ... Myra. I didn’t abandon either of you. I~ ..." his voice turned heavy. "Those people were tracking my movements and keeping an eye on me. So, I asked a friend of mine to take you and Nora to a reliable orphanage and make sure you both were taken care of properly."

Something suddenly clicked in her mind. Just recently, she had visions about a middle aged man with two babies. He was conversing with another man his age, asking him to register the infants at an orphanage. She recalled how that man had a pitiful, regretful expression the whole time. And how he kept looking at the children and apologizing to them. So~ .... that wasn’t just some random dream. It was her memory from the past.

"Myra~ ... child. I~ ... am really very sorry. I know I have hurt you deeply, and there is no way I can expect you to accept my apology and forgive me for what I did. But~ ... I don’t regret taking you away that day. If I were to return on that day, I would do the same thing, over and over again," Garry said, his voice firm but his eyes moist.

Once he had revealed the whole truth, she backed away, staggering. Brave caught her from behind, his hands gentle. He whispered near her ear, "If you want to cry, just let it all out. Don’t hold your grief in, Myra. I am here for you."

His words struck a chord within her. All her defences crumbled. She couldn’t hold her tears any longer as they cascaded down like a waterfall.

Brave circled his arms around her and hugged her in comfort. It was tearing his and Raw’s hearts to see her so shattered. Myra buried her face in his chest, staining his new crisp ivory shirt. Yet he didn’t mind and just patted her back soothingly, without saying anything.

Elio watched from the sidelines. On one side, he and Leo were overwhelmed and crushed to see her in such a distraught state. But on another, they were a little jealous of his elder brother holding their mate so closely. He wanted to be the one to comfort her. He wanted to be her only solace.
