Marvel: God of Spotlight, The Homelander
Chapter 579 Cosmic Cube
Chapter 579: Chapter 579 Cosmic Cube
This thing is called the Cosmic Cube.
The Tesseract, which sealed the Space Stone, and the Cosmic Orb, which sealed the Power Stone, were both replicated based on this item.
The Cosmic Cube possesses the ability to extract energy from a certain higher unknown dimension and seal it for use; its currently known usable function is modifying the rules of the Universe.
However, the capabilities of the Cosmic Cube have not been fully developed.
Its energy output range is limited, unable to function on a universal scale like the Infinity Stones.
Back then, Thanos had pinned his hopes on the Cosmic Cube to realize his grand cause of balance.
But after learning of the existence of the Infinity Stones, he found the power of the stones to be purer and more absolute, and thus halted the development of the Cosmic Cube project.
But now, the situation is different.
Under the rules of the Cosmic Arena, the characteristics of the Infinity Stones are restricted.
Now this Cosmic Cube has become the crucial trump card that Thanos believes can defeat the enemy and win.
Because he only needs to modify some rules on the battlefield to lift the restriction placed by the Spirit of the Contest on the Infinity Stones in his hands.
"Destiny is arriving." Thanos murmured in a low voice.
Above the arena, the holographic projection of the Grandmaster enlarged once again.
He did not wait for both sides to select their participants as before.
Because according to the rules, before both sides reach a draw, all contestants must take the field in turn.
And now, on the participant lists of both sides, only the last person remained.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" The Grandmaster’s voice trembled slightly with excitement; he knew that this match might become his most glorious moment for a long time to come.
"Now! Right now! Immediately! We are about to usher in the grand climax of this cosmic contest!"
"This is also the origin of this contest, the ultimate showdown eagerly awaited by all spectators across the Universe! And it is the ultimate purpose of why you are sitting here!"
"On one side is the Overlord of the Universe! The Mad Butcher! The Death Envoy who makes countless galaxies tremble in fear—Thanos!"
"On the other side! The one who saved the Universe from the hands of Ego! The Supreme Leader of Earth! The Guardian of the Milky Way Galaxy!"
"Let us shout his name—Homelander!"
Countless starry spotlights swung wildly across the dome, finally shining separately on the preparation platforms of the Black Order and the Earth faction.
Homelander stood on the platform listening to the Grandmaster’s announcement, turned his head, and flashed a contagious, confident smile at the group of heroes behind him.
"Watch my performance!"
After saying that, he prepared to step towards the teleportation array.
Suddenly, his brow furrowed, and his entire person froze in place.
Sorcerer Ancient One stood by his side, keenly perceiving Homelander’s abnormality.
"What happened?" Ancient One looked at him with concerned eyes.
Homelander snapped back to his senses, unknitted his brows and smiled at Ancient One, saying, "Just a small problem. But it will be resolved soon."
Ancient One nodded slightly and asked no further questions.
Subsequently, the figures of Homelander and Thanos appeared successively at both ends of the arena.
The audience in the stadium boiled over, the clamor deafening, overshadowing any previous duel.
"Tear him apart! Thanos! Let him know who the true master of the Universe is!"
"I’ve bet all the interstellar mines under my name on Thanos. The Mad Titan never loses; this is common sense in the Universe."
"Homelander! Take down that butcher! I’ve bet all my interstellar cruisers on you to win!"
"Kill! Kill! Kill!"
The audience watching the live broadcast on Earth was even more excited.
"Good grief! Is it finally my Homelander’s turn to take the stage?! I’ve waited for this moment until I’m about to have a heart attack!"
"Why do I feel a bit nervous? That alien called Thanos looks extremely strong."
"Strong my ass! Homelander tore Dormammu apart with his bare hands. Go take a look at Victoria Harbour; isn’t Dormammu’s head as big as an island?"
"That purple sweet potato alien is a goner; even Jesus can’t save him, I said so!"
At the V.G.D. Center, Jessica stared closely at the giant screen occupying the entire wall.
"Heh, I recognize that expression of his," Jessica chuckled softly, saying, "That ’I am dying of boredom, but still have to play along with your acting’ expression."
"So you aren’t worried?" Skye asked.
"Worried?" Jessica scoffed lightly, "Listen, Skye, there might be things in this World capable of making that man bleed, but it’s definitely not a purple sweet potato with chin wrinkles."
At this moment, the voting channel of the cosmic arena officially opened.
To everyone’s surprise, this time, the audience did not choose any bizarre or fatal trap-filled venues.
On the vote-counting pillar, the first option won first place with an overwhelming advantage—that was, the Primitive Arena.
Perhaps the audience had grown tired of fancy mechanics.
Faced with two ultimate existences of this caliber, everyone yearned to see the purest head-on clash.
Venue confirmation complete.
Homelander flew to the center of the venue with his hands behind his back, waiting quietly with his eyes closed.
While Thanos strode with imposing steps, walking step by step toward Homelander from the other end of the arena, fully displaying his regal aura.
At this moment, the millions of spectators in the audience all ceased their clamor.
They all held their breath, their eyes fixed firmly on the battlefield, afraid of missing even a fleeting moment of the exciting action.
In the giant cosmic arena, a pin drop could be heard at this moment.
Thanos stopped twenty meters away from Homelander.
He looked at Homelander before him, who had his eyes closed and appeared completely undefended, and sneered coldly.
He had seen too many arrogant civilizations, and too many powerhouses who fancied themselves gods.
But in front of his absolute will, these people all turned into cosmic dust.
Thanos slowly opened his mouth, his low and oppressive voice sounding first across the empty arena.
"I once..."
Sizzle—!
His words stopped abruptly after uttering just two words.
A solid red line, without any warning, slashed upwards across Thanos’s body.
From Thanos’s crotch, along his indestructible dark-golden armor, passing through his rock-hard abdominal muscles, cutting across his chest, slicing directly through his throat, chin, and bridge of his nose, and finally piercing straight out from the top of his head.
The red light flashed and vanished instantly.
No one noticed when Homelander’s eyes opened.
They only saw that the scarlet in his eyes had gradually extinguished, and his pupils had returned to a clear blue.
He still stood in place, motionless, as if nothing had happened.
Thanos maintained the posture of speaking, that ruthless smile still frozen on his face.
A gentle breeze blew across the battlefield.
The next second, the left and right halves of Thanos’s body lost all connection and slowly toppled over to both sides.
"Thump."
The two halves of the body slammed heavily onto the ground, producing two muffled, loud thuds.
Not a single drop of blood flowed out.
Because the unreachable high temperature of the Heat Vision had already carbonized all his blood vessels and organ wounds the instant it sliced through his body.
