Mia Shaw glanced at Leo and asked, "Oh, what happened here? Who beat Leo up like this?"

Henry Underwood stood to the side, watching Mia Shaw. She had been coming back occasionally of late.

When Charles Prescott was at work, it was just her and Leo at home!

Besides her, it couldn’t have been the servants who did it!

The servants had been with the family for a long time. Their characters were well understood; they would never hit a child.

Seeing Mia Shaw’s complete denial, Sylvia Warren said, "Don’t think this will be resolved just because you refuse to admit it."

Mia Shaw gave Sylvia Warren a dismissive glance before her eyes landed on Leo. She squatted down, looked at Leo, and said, "Leo, tell your mother who gave you these injuries."

The moment she spoke to him, Leo lowered his head, not daring to meet her eyes.

Mia Shaw said, "Good boy, come on, tell us. Did I hit you?"

Her tone was forceful, the threat within it obvious.

Leo was too terrified to speak.

Sylvia Warren reached out, shoved her away, and said, "Miss Shaw! You’ve gone too far!"

"How have I gone too far?" Mia Shaw said. "Go on, let Leo speak. See if he says I’m the one who hit him! It’s not right for you to accuse people falsely, is it?"

Sylvia Warren looked at Leo and said, "Leo, tell Mommy, did she hit you? Mommy’s here, don’t be afraid..."

’My son used to be so lively,’ Sylvia Warren thought, her heart aching. ’Now he’s been beaten to this state and doesn’t even dare to say a word.’

Mia Shaw said, "Leo, hurry up and speak. Say it! If you don’t, your mother will really think I’m the one who hit you!"

"No," Leo finally said, left with no choice under Mia Shaw’s pressure.

Hearing Leo’s answer, Mia Shaw’s gaze fell on Sylvia Warren. "There. Did you hear that? Now you can get the hell out of here! This is my house, not a place you should be!"

"My son is here!" Sylvia Warren said. "He’s been wronged. Am I not allowed to come?"

Mia Shaw retorted, "I’m married to Charles Prescott now. This is my home! So, no, you can’t come here! Ms. Warren, you’re a big star. Even if you once had a relationship with my husband, your presence here now will affect my relationship with him. You wouldn’t want this to end up in the news, would you?"

At this, Mia Shaw picked at her fingernails and said, "Tell me, what good would it do you if this kind of story got out?"

Her tone was an unmistakable threat!

She knew Sylvia Warren had gained some popularity in the entertainment industry.

However, her fame and prior resources in the industry were all provided by Charles Prescott. They were her compensation for giving birth to Leo.

But now Charles Prescott can barely look after himself, let alone manage her affairs!

She has no backing anymore.

Mia Shaw certainly wasn’t afraid of her!

Sylvia Warren looked at Mia Shaw and found the situation laughable. "I don’t know what Charles Prescott was thinking, marrying someone like you! You’re truly a vicious person!"

’Back then, she had wanted to marry Charles Prescott, but even having his child didn’t make it happen. And now, this woman had swooped in and taken her place!’

’The worst part was, Mia Shaw wasn’t even acting like a human being—she was abusing a child!’

Hearing Sylvia Warren’s words, Mia Shaw just smiled. "You only ever thought about relying on him, so naturally, you failed. A woman needs her own career, her own capabilities. What right do you have to feel indignant on his behalf? Without me, he wouldn’t be where he is today! Do you really think, in his current state, he could have even gotten into my company without me?"

"..."

As the two women were speaking, Charles Prescott came down from upstairs. Seeing his master, Henry Underwood said politely, "President Prescott."

Charles Prescott walked over and asked, "What’s going on?"

He had heard them arguing but didn’t know what had happened, so he came over to see.

When Sylvia Warren saw Charles Prescott come down, she quickly hugged her son and tattled, "Look at her! Look what she’s done to Leo!"

’This is something she had to tell Charles Prescott.’

She had left her son with Charles Prescott in the past because she knew having such a wealthy father would make everything convenient for the child.

But now, everything was different!

Charles Prescott glanced at the bruised and battered Leo, then looked at Mia Shaw. "Did you do this?"

Mia Shaw, naturally, wouldn’t admit it.

She said, "Of course not! In fact, I’d like to ask you why this woman is even in our house! Charles Prescott, do you even want this marriage to work? I told you from the beginning not to bring Leo here, but you didn’t listen! And look what happened! This woman is using the child as an excuse to show up here, and I can’t even get her to leave."

The way she said it, you would think she was the one who had been wronged!

Charles Prescott looked at Sylvia Warren and said, "You can go now."

Sylvia Warren stared at Charles Prescott in disbelief. "You’re telling me to leave? Charles, didn’t you see how badly our son is hurt? She did this!"

"I did it," Charles Prescott said. "He was misbehaving, so I hit him. It has nothing to do with Mia Shaw."

"You..." Sylvia Warren was about to go crazy with rage hearing his words. She couldn’t believe he would cover for Mia Shaw at a time like this, even taking the blame himself.

Charles Prescott said, "Henry Underwood, see her out."

Henry Underwood looked at Sylvia Warren. "Miss Warren, if you please."

Hearing this, Leo looked toward Sylvia Warren. "Mommy."

Sylvia Warren looked at her injured son, her heart aching. Not only had she failed to get justice for him, but now she was being thrown out.

’They... they’ve gone too far!’

At the door, Henry Underwood looked at Sylvia Warren and asked, "Do you need me to call a car for you?"

"No, thank you," Sylvia Warren said. "What’s going to happen to Leo? If he stays here, he’ll just get hit again."

Henry Underwood glanced back inside. "The master is here; he’ll handle it. You should go home for now. And don’t come back again. This isn’t a place you should be."

It was just as Mia Shaw had said: Charles Prescott was married to her now.

Although Sylvia Warren was only here for her child, in the eyes of others, it could easily start all kinds of gossip.

She was a celebrity now; this would have a negative impact on her.

If Mia Shaw wanted to ruin her, she could do it in a heartbeat.

Sylvia Warren said, "I’m just worried about Leo. He’s so little. You saw what Mia Shaw did to him, how she abused him."

Henry Underwood said, "Don’t worry, I’ll help keep an eye on him. You should go home for now."

Seeing the child so injured, Henry Underwood also felt terrible.

’That was President Prescott’s own son!’

’When had he ever been treated so unjustly before?’

...

What Mia Shaw had done was truly despicable.

In the living room, Charles Prescott had a servant take Leo to rest. His gaze fell upon Mia Shaw. Now that everyone else was gone, he looked at her and said, "What on earth are you thinking? Leo is just a little boy. What did he ever do to you? Mia Shaw, did you have to be so vicious?"

Hearing his words, Mia Shaw looked at him and said, "I told you not to bring the child here. You were the one who insisted. I didn’t even do much to him. He was just being too loud while I was trying to work, so I disciplined him a little. That’s all."
