Chapter 428: Make Charles Prescott Wait on Them

The people inside were mostly influential public figures.

Among the crowd, there were also some entertainment stars.

Stella Shields was also here today!

Stella Shields had come with friends.

She was now an A-list celebrity in the entertainment industry.

She knew Caleb Summers from before.

Out of consideration for Ethan Linden, Caleb Summers let her come when she expressed her interest.

...

Anne Sutton walked through the door by Nathan Fawcett’s side.

She saw several famous people one after another and felt a little out of place.

’This place...’

’...is a bit too high-end for me.’

She recalled her time in Westhaven, when she would occasionally accompany Charles Prescott to all sorts of events. But honestly, the pomp and circumstance of those occasions couldn’t compare to Caleb Summers’s birthday party.

After all, there was a huge difference between the Fawcett Group and the Summers Family.

’Even among the wealthy elite, there are different tiers!’

Someone walked over, saw Nathan Fawcett, and said, "Mr. Fawcett."

Nathan Fawcett said, "Where’s Caleb Summers?"

"He’s inside! He said to bring you straight in once you arrived."

Anne Sutton held onto Nathan Fawcett’s arm. He carried Ian in his other arm. The family of three walked further inside, drawing stares.

Stella Shields stood to the side, surrounded by several currently popular stars...

’In a place like this, we’re just on the fringes.’

’I remember how I used to walk right beside Nathan Fawcett when we attended events like this together!’

After all, back then, everyone thought she would marry the Head of the Linden Family.

’But...’

Thinking of her current situation, how even Anna Linden, her only supporter, was no longer on her side, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of bitterness.

...

Anne Sutton followed Nathan Fawcett through a door. Several of Nathan and Caleb Summers’s friends, some of whom she had met before, were inside.

What she hadn’t expected was that Charles Prescott was here too.

When Anne Sutton came in, he was holding a wine bottle, pouring a drink for Caleb Summers.

Seeing this, Anne Sutton was in a bit of a daze...

After all, she had known Charles Prescott for so many years and had never seen him in such a pathetic state, being ordered around by a group of rich young heirs like a waiter.

It wasn’t like they were short on waiters here. From the looks of it, Caleb Summers must have specifically summoned him.

Caleb Summers saw Nathan Fawcett and waved him over. "Nathan!"

Nathan Fawcett walked over and sat in the seat Caleb had saved for him. Anne Sutton sat down as well.

Nathan Fawcett saw Charles Prescott pouring wine nearby and didn’t say anything, but Caleb Summers understood his unspoken question. He explained, "I saw him on my way up, so I called him over to pour us some drinks. It’s his honor to be able to serve us, right?"

Caleb Summers said this while looking at Charles Prescott.

Charles Prescott, dressed in a suit, didn’t look up.

Anne Sutton sat nearby, staring at him. She never thought she would one day run into him here, in such a miserable state.

’How times have changed!’

Caleb Summers said, "Hurry up and pour Nathan a drink! What are you spacing out for? What, you don’t recognize him?"

Anne Sutton, sitting beside Nathan Fawcett, said to Caleb Summers, "Here, this is the birthday present Nathan and I got for you."

Caleb Summers saw the bag Anne Sutton handed him and quickly took it. "Anne, you really didn’t have to. Just your presence is enough. Why bring a gift? You’re making me feel embarrassed."

After speaking, he opened it and took a look. The gift from Nathan Fawcett was just an ordinary fountain pen.

When Caleb Summers saw it, he acted as if he’d just seen a priceless treasure. "Anne, you know me so well! How did you know I’d like this?"

Then, he said to Charles Prescott, "Bring Anne a glass of wine. And be quick about it."

He knew about the old grudge between Anne Sutton and Charles Prescott, so he was clearly doing this to humiliate Charles on purpose.

Caleb Summers had always been this arrogant.

If he didn’t like someone, he would drag them over and humiliate them thoroughly...

Charles Prescott was surprisingly obedient. He poured the wine and offered it to Anne Sutton...

Anne Sutton looked at the glass he held out to her but didn’t take it.

Caleb Summers said, "Who do you think you are, pouring a drink for Anne while standing? Kneel!"

The corner of Charles Prescott’s mouth twitched. It was obvious he was already furious about being called over just to be humiliated.

Anne Sutton looked at Charles Prescott. She certainly couldn’t be as cruel as Caleb Summers. She turned to Caleb and said, "Let him go. Why would you call someone like him over anyway? It’s unpleasant just looking at him!"

’Ian is right here!’

Her own son was here, and Anne Sutton didn’t want him to learn such bad behavior!

Caleb Summers said, "Anne, you don’t need to feel sorry for a guy like this! Just think about how he screwed you over back then! I heard about what happened, and I was furious! You don’t have to give him any face now! Do you even know what he’s up to these days? He married Mia Shaw... It’s hilarious. You know Mia Shaw, right? Just the other day, I saw her with that old man, Vic! Who would’ve thought our Charles Prescott, the great President Prescott... not only is he living off a woman, but he’s also being cuckolded. It’s too funny!"

Caleb Summers clearly had a gossip-loving streak in him.

Anne Sutton, sitting to the side, said, "Caleb Summers."

Hearing her say his full name so seriously, Caleb said, "Anne, you’re not feeling sorry for him, are you? Let me tell you, a man like this isn’t worth your sympathy."

Anne Sutton glanced at Ian and said to Caleb Summers, "There’s a child here. What kind of example are you setting?"

The perfectly fine atmosphere had been ruined the moment Charles Prescott appeared.

Anne Sutton didn’t like seeing him!

Hearing this, Caleb Summers looked at Ian and said, "Ian, come on. Uncle Summers will take you somewhere fun. There are fun things to do outside."

With that, he picked up Ian and walked out the door.

He would rather take Ian away than let Charles Prescott off the hook!

After all, he’d finally gotten ahold of Charles Prescott today, and he wasn’t done toying with him yet!

The other friends were still here.

They had been having a good time with Caleb Summers. One of them looked at Anne Sutton and said, "Anne, I heard this is the man who caused you and Nathan to lose your child! What’s happening to him now is just karma. You don’t need to be soft on him!"

Then he turned to Charles Prescott and said, "Come on, kneel down and kowtow to Anne! You bastard, don’t you know who you messed with back then?"

Anne Sutton looked at Charles Prescott, and he looked back at her. "Do you want me to kneel?" he asked.

’What does he mean, do *I* want him to kneel?’ His question irritated Anne Sutton.

’He’s making it sound like I’m the one deliberately tormenting him!’

The man who had just spoken saw Charles Prescott’s defiance and kicked him. "Just kneel when you’re told to! Cut the crap! Take a look at yourself! Are you even qualified to speak to Anne?"

Anne Sutton sat beside Nathan Fawcett and said to him, "Make him leave."

Caleb Summers had already returned. "Seeing him like this, don’t you feel happy, Anne? It’d be such a shame to let him go!"

Anne Sutton said, "What’s there to be happy about? I’m not that petty."

This kind of humiliation was something Anne Sutton couldn’t bring herself to do, nor did she find any sense of accomplishment in it.

Caleb Summers looked at Charles Prescott, then turned to Anne Sutton. "Well, I think it’s pretty gratifying. Right, Nathan?"

"..." Anne Sutton was at her wit’s end with Caleb Summers. Knowing he would only listen to Nathan Fawcett, she could only turn her gaze to Nathan.
