"Anne is staying here tonight."

"Suit yourself." Master Linden knew now that he couldn’t control Nathan Fawcett!

Besides, he did have a soft spot for his grandson, so he let Nathan Fawcett have his way.

Nathan Fawcett saw him to his car before coming back inside. Anne Sutton and Ian were almost finished with their noodles.

Nathan Fawcett sat down and looked at Anne Sutton. "Grandfather just talks like that. He doesn’t mean any harm. You’re not upset, are you?"

Anne Sutton saw how cautious he was and knew he was caught between her and his grandfather, which put him in a difficult position.

Seeing how afraid he was that she might be angry, she couldn’t hold back a laugh.

Nathan Fawcett let out a sigh of relief, lowered his head to continue eating his noodles, and asked, "What are you laughing at?"

Anne Sutton said, "Your noodles are getting soggy. Stop eating."

"It’s fine," Nathan Fawcett said. "You made them. I’d still love them even if they sat out all night."

"Such a smooth talker." Anne Sutton shot him a look and said, "Don’t worry, I was fine! I didn’t back down to your grandfather, so you can’t say he wronged me. But I do think it’s best if I see less of him in the future."

"Why?" Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton.

Anne Sutton said, "I’m afraid I’ll make him angry!"

After all, his health wasn’t good. If he got angry, she didn’t want all the blame to fall on her. She couldn’t take that kind of responsibility.

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, "Nathan, if one day—and I’m just saying if—your grandfather gets really angry because of me, would you be mad at me?"

Hearing Anne Sutton’s question, Nathan Fawcett looked at her. "Would you provoke him on purpose?"

"..." Anne Sutton looked at the man. His tone was very serious when he spoke.

He loved Anne Sutton very much, but his grandfather was also a very important person to him.

When everyone in the Linden Family despised and looked down on Nathan Fawcett...

...his grandfather, as the one with the most authority, was the first to acknowledge him.

Therefore, his grandfather was an incredibly important figure in his life.

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett, smiled, and said, "I won’t."

She wasn’t so harsh as to trouble him with a classic dilemma like, "If your mom and I both fell into the water, who would you save first?"

She had known Nathan Fawcett for a long time and knew that he was someone who cared deeply about family ties.

Among his few relatives, his grandfather was one of the ones who treated him very well.

Besides, the old man was indeed getting on in years.

If she really were to cross a line and anger his grandfather to death, it would only prove that she didn’t care about Nathan at all.

So, of course, she would never do something like that.

Hearing Anne Sutton’s answer, Nathan Fawcett smiled.

Anne Sutton asked, "What are you smiling at?"

He was actually smiling at a time like this.

Nathan Fawcett took her hand and said, "Anne, you’re the best person in the world! Grandfather has some misunderstandings about you, but he’ll come to see the truth. I’ll talk to him."

Hearing Nathan Fawcett’s words, Anne Sutton said, "It’s all right. I don’t mind."

Nathan Fawcett squeezed her hand. "As long as you’re with me, I’ll do my best to make sure you’re never wronged."

Although his grandfather didn’t quite approve of Anne Sutton, he was constantly trying to win the old man’s approval.

Of course...

His own stance on the matter was also very firm.

He had always told his grandfather that his other half could only be Anne Sutton.

Even if they never married, they would be together forever.

Hearing his words, Anne Sutton nodded.

Nathan Fawcett said, "Oh, right, it’s Caleb Summers’s birthday tonight. Let’s go together. He’s invited a few friends, and it’s a good chance for me to introduce you to them."

Anne Sutton said, "You should have told me sooner. I completely forgot, and I haven’t gotten him a gift."

"What kind of gift does he need?" Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton with a smile. "Just you showing up is giving him enough face!"

"You don’t have to put it like that."

"It’s fine, I already prepared one." Nathan Fawcett looked at her. "We’re a couple now. You think I wouldn’t have thought of these things?"

"Is Ian going with us too?"

"Mhm," Nathan Fawcett said. "We’re taking our son with us!"

...

Ian said, "Dad, you’re the best!"

Nathan Fawcett glanced at the little rascal and said, "Thank your mother!"

When Anne Sutton wasn’t around, he usually didn’t take his son out to social events.

Mainly because they could sometimes go on very late.

Ian was just a kid; he’d get sleepy, and there was nothing for him to do for fun.

...

After finishing their noodles, Anne Sutton went upstairs with her son to lie down and rest for a while before she started getting ready to go out.

She stood in front of the mirror, changing into the outfit Nathan Fawcett had prepared for her.

’He just wanted to take me out for a meal, and he even had an outfit prepared!’

Anne Sutton changed into the dress, gathered her long hair, and said to Nathan Fawcett, "Your taste isn’t half bad! This dress is quite beautiful."

Nathan Fawcett said, "I had it custom-made... My friend said you would definitely like it!"

A haute couture dress.

The only one of its kind in the entire world.

The designer’s taste was, naturally, impeccable.

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett. "What friend?"

"The founder of KA."

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett in disbelief. "That’s your friend?"

The main point was...

He had said it so calmly!

’KA is a huge luxury brand right now!’

He’d said it so simply that she almost thought it was just a regular friend.

Nathan Fawcett said, "You know of it!"

"Do you really think I’m so clueless I wouldn’t recognize the name?"

No matter what, she had been Charles Prescott’s fiancée for a while.

When Charles Prescott was with her, he was very generous to other women.

But he was a strange guy; if he bought something for another woman and thought it was nice, he would get one for her as well.

So, he had given her quite a few luxury brand items...

Naturally, Anne Sutton recognized those famous brands.

It was just that she worked at a hospital and usually didn’t pay attention to such things.

Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett’s lips curved into a smile.

Anne Sutton asked, "Since when did you start caring about these things?"

"I never know what to get you," Nathan Fawcett said. "Sometimes I want to buy you things, but you always say you don’t need them. My woman is too independent. I’m at a loss."

The apartment she and Mrs. Sutton lived in now was bought with her own savings, without a cent of his money, and so was her car...

Anne Sutton said, "You even gave me a company. What could I possibly want to buy that I can’t afford? President Fawcett, you’re too extravagant!"

’And after all that, he still acts like he’s wronged me!’

Anne Sutton was starting to feel embarrassed.

Nathan Fawcett walked up behind her and gently zipped up her dress. "This dress looks beautiful on you."

Anne Sutton couldn’t help but laugh. "You really know what to say."

’He didn’t just say the dress was beautiful; he said it was beautiful *on me*!’

’Tsk...’

’Just as I thought!’

’There are no dense men in this world, only men who don’t put in the effort!’

After spending a good while getting ready at home, the time was right, so Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett left with Ian for the hotel where Caleb Summers was celebrating his birthday.

Caleb Summers was, after all, the future heir of the Summers Family, so the scene at the hotel was naturally grand. He had invited many of his and Nathan Fawcett’s mutual friends...
