Sharon Sutton refused to forgive him!

She wouldn’t even reply to his messages.

Was she really planning on ignoring him forever?

...

The next morning, Anne Sutton had just stepped out of the hospital room when she saw Lucy Todd approaching. She stood at the doorway, holding a thermal container, and said to Anne, "Anne."

Anne Sutton looked at Lucy Todd, a headache already forming. "What are you doing here?"

’If Sharon sees her, she’ll get upset all over again.’

Lucy Todd asked, "How is Sharon? Is she feeling any better? I heard what happened, and I’ve been so worried about her."

"Worried?" Anne Sutton’s gaze fell upon Lucy Todd. "Are you really worried about her? It looks to me like you’re just here to add fuel to the fire! I don’t know what’s going on between you and David Hayes, but... they’re married. What you’re doing makes you a complete homewrecker."

Lucy Todd gritted her teeth and said to Anne, "So you think it’s my fault, too? You comforted me at the hospital that time, and I’ve always been grateful."

"..." Anne Sutton said, "I don’t even want to talk about whose fault it is anymore! It’s just... seeing you and Sharon, both clinging to a scumbag like he’s some kind of treasure... it’s just pathetic."

Lucy Todd looked at Anne Sutton and said, "You probably hate me, but I don’t think I did anything wrong. Sharon lost a child, but I lost a child back then, too! You only take her side because she’s your sister."

Anne Sutton looked at Lucy Todd. "So, did you come here today just to lecture me?"

Lucy Todd lowered her head. "I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just... seeing you blame everything on me feels so unfair! It’s not like I caused Sharon to lose her baby! What does this have to do with me?"

"No one’s unfairly blaming you for being with David Hayes!" Anne Sutton stared at Lucy Todd.

Lucy Todd said, "I just want to be with the person I like. Is that so wrong? Besides, I’m the one who met him first!"

"Fine." Anne Sutton was rendered speechless. She said to Lucy Todd, "So, congratulations. From now on, that man is all yours! Sharon won’t be fighting you for him anymore! You don’t need to come to the hospital, either. My sister isn’t in a good state right now. Just leave her alone!"

Lucy Todd said, "This is some soup I made for her. Please give it to her!"

Her expression was full of sincerity.

Anne Sutton looked at Lucy Todd. "No, thank you! We don’t need it. It’s not like we can’t make our own! Just go home!"

’She really didn’t know how to blame Lucy Todd.’

’But... she definitely didn’t want to see Lucy Todd here!’

Lucy Todd looked at Anne Sutton and gave a bitter smile. "I thought you were a reasonable person, Anne. It seems I was thinking too much! You’re just going to side with your sister no matter what."

"..." Anne Sutton stared at the woman, finding her rather ridiculous. ’What is this? Is she trying to guilt-trip me now?’

Anne Sutton said, "If I don’t help my sister, am I supposed to help you? Do I even know you that well?"

"..." Lucy Todd looked at Anne Sutton, her expression crestfallen. "I’ll be going then."

With that, she left.

Watching her leave, Anne Sutton felt like she was about to have a heart attack from sheer frustration.

Although her attitude wasn’t aggressive, something about it made Anne Sutton deeply uncomfortable.

Anne Sutton returned to the hospital room. Sharon asked, "Who was that? I heard you talking outside."

"Just someone from the hospital," Anne said. "It was nothing."

’She didn’t want her to know it was Lucy Todd.’

’She was afraid it would upset her.’

Sharon Sutton looked at Anne Sutton. "Was it someone from the Hayes Family?"

’No idea where she got such sharp intuition.’

Seeing her curious expression, Anne said, "No, it was Lucy Todd."

"What was she doing here?" The moment she heard Lucy Todd’s name, Sharon immediately became agitated.

Anne said, "Look at you, why are you getting so worked up? Your health is the most important thing. I wasn’t going to tell you for this very reason."

Sharon said, "I just can’t believe she had the nerve to come here."

"She said she was bringing you something," Anne said. "Said she made you soup."

"Like I’d dare drink her soup?" Sharon said. "She’d probably poison me!"

Anne understood her resentment toward Lucy Todd. "I already sent her away for you."

"You should have let her in. I’m not satisfied unless I can curse her out to her face."

Anne Sutton looked at her sister. "Look at the state your body is in! You barely made it out alive, and you’re still not treasuring your life. Even if you want to be angry, you have to wait until you’ve recovered!"

Sharon said, "I can’t even sleep now."

"Be good." Anne looked at her pouting face. "Mom will be here soon. Once she arrives, I’ll go home and get some sleep. I’ll come back later."

Sharon said, "Okay."

Anne said, "I’ll bring you some books then. You can read them instead of letting your mind wander all day. Honestly, you..."

’She went through so much trouble to be with David Hayes back then, only for it to end like this.’

’You can’t be soft-hearted when dealing with a scumbag.’

’If you go easy on him, who’s going to go easy on you?’

’All the tears she’s crying now are from the stupid decisions she made back then.’

Sharon said, "I know."

She was being incredibly obedient.

Not long after, Mrs. Sutton arrived.

Anne Sutton went home, and that evening, she brought her some books.

’Reading a book is better than looking at her phone. Her phone would just bring more messages, and it’s bad for her eyes anyway.’

...

After staying by her side in the hospital for a few days, Sharon Sutton finally seemed to be in much better shape.

Anne Sutton’s vacation was also almost over.

Mrs. Sutton also had many things to take care of back in Veridia.

Anne Sutton said to Sharon, "Why don’t you come to Veridia with us? You can focus on recovering first and deal with the rest of this after you’re better."

Sharon looked at Anne. "I don’t want to go."

Anne said, "What do you plan to do by staying here?"

"Sis, I don’t want to let them get away with this."

Anne looked at her foolishly stubborn expression. "Listen to me. Go there and get better first. You can think about everything else later! Look at the state you’re in now. What can you possibly do? If Mom and I weren’t here, they would have walked all over you!"

"I can’t stand to see them living a happy life."

Anne Sutton looked at her and said, "They won’t be living a happy life! David Hayes has already been fired from his company! He took out a loan to buy a house for his mother, and now he can’t make the payments. He’ll probably have to sell it."

’With his current capabilities, he’d have a hard time finding a job that pays even ten thousand a month.’

’He only dared to be so extravagant and buy such a big house because he’d just gotten a promotion.’

Hearing Anne’s words, Sharon said, "They didn’t even tell me when they bought the house!"

"That’s right! They didn’t just ’not tell you’! After they moved in, Lucy Todd was there every day."

At this, Sharon looked at Anne in disbelief. "Really?"

Anne said, "What do you think?"

’Ever since she found out David Hayes was with Lucy Todd, Anne Sutton hadn’t been able to rest easy, so she’d had someone keeping an eye on them.’

’As it turned out, David Hayes didn’t disappoint!’
