Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune
Chapter 419: Sis, You Can’t Do This
Sean Sutton, standing off to the side, moved to help when he saw his wife get hit.
But with just a glance from Nathan Fawcett, Butler Walters, who had accompanied him, quickly intercepted Sean Sutton.
Maya Evans was a wreck after being slapped several times by Anne Sutton, and even her hair was disheveled.
She looked at Anne Sutton and said, "Anne Sutton! If you’ve got the guts, then kill me!"
"Killing you? I’d just be dirtying my own hands."
Anne Sutton looked at Maya Evans’s sorry state and said, "But if you dare to show your face again, or if you dare to come looking for trouble, just see if I don’t put you in your place."
’She’s just unbelievably vile!’
At first, Maya Evans had the nerve to challenge Anne Sutton, but when she glanced back and saw Sean Sutton being held back, unable to help her, much of her aggressive bluster deflated.
Seeing that she had finally stopped spouting venom, Anne Sutton finished with her and let her go, shoving her aside.
Maya Evans collapsed onto the floor, a miserable heap.
Seeing this, Yvonne Evans rushed over and helped Maya Evans up. "Mom."
Both mother and daughter had been beaten up by Anne Sutton. Maya Evans in particular had a face that was already starting to swell.
Yvonne Evans looked at Anne Sutton and said, "You’re horrible! No matter what, my mother is still your elder..."
"She doesn’t deserve the title!" Anne Sutton said. "Now get out of here! I don’t want to see any of you ever again."
...
She had rushed all the way here today and was seething with anger; her mood wasn’t about to improve anytime soon.
Yvonne Evans looked at her. She had originally hoped to get Noah Linden’s contact information through Anne Sutton, but that hope was now gone. All she could do was drag Maya Evans away.
Before leaving, she cast a final, lingering glance at Noah Linden, but seeing him standing off to the side with an air of utter indifference, she couldn’t help but feel humiliated.
...
Seeing how formidable Anne Sutton was—and with Nathan Fawcett right there, clearly backing her up—Sean Sutton didn’t dare say a word and simply left with Yvonne Evans and Maya Evans.
After dealing with that family, Anne Sutton’s gaze fell on David Hayes. She had snapped at him when she first arrived, so he was standing off to the side, not daring to get too close.
Anne Sutton said, "David Hayes, get over here!"
Hearing Anne Sutton’s command, David Hayes walked over, looked at her, and said, "Sis."
Anne Sutton stared at him. "How long have you and Lucy Todd been together?"
"..." David Hayes bit his lip, looking at Anne Sutton, not daring to answer.
Anne Sutton continued, "What, you think if you don’t say anything, we can all just pretend this never happened?"
"I’m not with Lucy Todd! It’s all lies made up by Yvonne Evans! They just want to ruin Sharon’s life, and you know it, Sis."
"Hah..." Anne Sutton scoffed at David Hayes. "You’re not with Lucy Todd? So you think I’m just wasting my time asking you these questions?"
David Hayes looked at her. "Sis..."
He didn’t know why, but right at this moment, he found Anne Sutton terrifying.
The sheer pressure radiating from her was so intense that he couldn’t even bring himself to look her in the eye.
Just then, Mrs. Hayes came over. Unable to stand by and watch her son be interrogated, she walked up to Anne Sutton and said, "What are you doing, blaming my son? This is clearly your Sutton family’s problem. You cost me my grandson, and now you’re trying to pin the blame on my son’s head, is that it? What gives you the right?"
"What gives me the right?" Anne Sutton raised an eyebrow, looking at Mrs. Hayes.
Mrs. Hayes said, "Am I wrong? My perfectly healthy grandson is just gone, like that! Let me tell you, I’m only giving you the time of day because Sharon is married to our David! As long as you arrange a good job for him, I can let this matter go. Otherwise, I won’t be done with you all. You’ll pay for this with your lives!"
"Hah..." At Mrs. Hayes’s words, Anne Sutton let out a laugh. "It seems you really don’t have a clue what’s going on."
’Pay for it with my life?’
’Is she out of her mind?’
Mrs. Hayes shot back, "What, you think you’re all that just because you’re rich?"
Anne Sutton’s gaze shifted back to David Hayes. She took out her phone, pulled up a photo, and showed it to the mother and son. "This. Is this you and Lucy Todd?"
David Hayes froze when he saw it. He had known that Yvonne Evans took photos of him and Lucy Todd, but those were taken at night and weren’t very clear.
He never expected that Anne Sutton would have high-definition ones of him and Lucy Todd out to dinner. There were even pictures of them kissing.
He looked at Anne Sutton in disbelief. "You had me followed?"
"I saw these photos back when you were in Veridia. I didn’t expose you then because I thought you’d at least restrain yourself a little. It seems I expected too much of you! Not only did you fail to rein it in, you let Yvonne Evans catch you on camera. David Hayes, you’ve really got some nerve! You came back from Veridia with my mother, yet you still dared to carry on with Lucy Todd! What, do you take our whole family for fools that you can just toy with as you please?"
David Hayes stammered, "I..."
"’I’ what?" Anne Sutton turned to Mrs. Hayes. "As his mother, having raised a son like this, I’m embarrassed for you!"
"..." Mrs. Hayes stared at the photos and stammered, "This has nothing to do with our David! He and Lucy Todd aren’t in that kind of relationship."
"It doesn’t matter," Anne Sutton said. "The proof is right here; whether you believe it or not is irrelevant. And from what I know, David Hayes, you bought your mother a house, didn’t you?"
David Hayes answered guiltily, "Yes."
"Not only did you buy a house and move your mother in, but you never brought Sharon to live there. What, as your wife, doesn’t she even have the right to know? Instead, that Lucy Todd woman shows up at your new home every other day. I see you two really do take my sister for a complete fool, don’t you? Did you think that just because I was in Veridia, I wouldn’t know what was going on in Westhaven? That you could do whatever you pleased?"
"..." David Hayes’s fists clenched tightly.
Anne Sutton pressed, "Explain yourself! Go on, keep explaining. I’d love to see what kind of excuse you can possibly come up with to justify this."
"..." With the evidence laid out right in front of him, David Hayes couldn’t find a single word to say.
Anne Sutton said, "So, you have no objections. In that case, let’s sort this out. I never had high expectations for you, and now that things have come to this, it’s not like I can kill you. You and Sharon will get a divorce. As for the Fawcett Group... I’m afraid you’re no longer welcome there."
Anne Sutton looked over at Noah Linden, who was standing nearby. "Noah."
Noah Linden came over. "I’m here."
Anne Sutton said, "Fire him immediately."
Noah Linden had never liked David Hayes, so he nodded at Anne Sutton’s command.
David Hayes pleaded with Anne Sutton, "Sis, you can’t do this."
"Don’t call me ’Sis’."
"Sharon and I have feelings for each other! She hasn’t even said she wants to divorce me. What right do you have to decide?"
"Whether I have the right is irrelevant," Anne Sutton said. "But I will absolutely not let Sharon stay with you any longer. Because you truly don’t deserve her. I gave you a chance, and you threw it away. I heard you took out a sizable loan for that house you bought your mother, didn’t you? You’re a real piece of work. Now, let’s just see how you plan on paying that back."
