Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune
Chapter 418: This Is Your Retribution
Mrs. Sutton looked up at him. "Why are you here?"
"I heard something happened to Sharon, so I came to see," Sean Sutton said. "No matter what, she’s still my daughter!"
"Get out," Mrs. Sutton said. "If it weren’t for you, Sharon wouldn’t have ended up like this."
"What does this have to do with me?" Sean Sutton said. "You’re being so unreasonable! You were the one who wanted her to be with David Hayes in the first place. That’s why she’s like this!"
After a glance at Sharon Sutton on the bed, Sean Sutton didn’t stay any longer and walked out.
Maya Evans saw him walk out with a dark expression and asked, "What’s wrong?"
"She’s acting like she’s crazy! The moment she saw me, she started blaming me! What did I do wrong?"
Maya Evans smiled. "Of course she looks down on you now! After all, she has a daughter to back her up!"
Sean Sutton’s eyes darkened.
...
Just as the hospital descended into chaos, Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett arrived.
Anne Sutton walked in. Seeing her, Sean Sutton said, "Anne."
Anne Sutton glanced at the family of three standing there. David Hayes also walked over. "Sis."
"Don’t come any closer." The sight of David Hayes made Anne Sutton sick. She walked straight into the hospital room.
David Hayes was stunned by her words and stood frozen to the side.
Anne Sutton entered the room. Noah Linden saw her and said, "Ms. Sutton."
"Thank you for your hard work." Anne Sutton walked up to her mother, looked at her, and said, "Mom."
Mrs. Sutton said, "You’re here!"
Anne Sutton’s gaze fell on Sharon Sutton. She was still sleeping. The hospital had already given her a clear update on Sharon’s condition.
If it hadn’t been for their efforts, Sharon Sutton might not have even survived.
...
Anne Sutton held her mother’s hand and comforted her. "It’s okay. She’ll get better. Don’t worry."
Mrs. Sutton said, "It was them. They wanted to kill my Sharon!"
Anne Sutton looked at her mother and asked, "What exactly happened?"
She only knew that something had happened to Sharon Sutton, but she didn’t know the details.
Her mother had been with Sharon Sutton the whole time; only she would know what really went on.
Mrs. Sutton told Anne Sutton the whole story from beginning to end.
Anne Sutton’s face darkened. "Yvonne Evans!"
She gritted her teeth and walked out the door.
Yvonne Evans was standing in front of Noah Linden.
Noah Linden had just come out of the hospital room, and she had been standing in front of him ever since. "Hi, I’m Sharon Sutton’s sister. Can I add you on WeChat?"
"..." Noah Linden looked at the woman in front of him, completely uninterested.
Seeing his cold stare, Yvonne Evans whined playfully, "Come on, don’t be so cold! You won’t even give me your WeChat? I’m crushed."
...
Anne Sutton came out. "Yvonne Evans."
Hearing Anne Sutton call her name, Yvonne Evans quickly walked over to her.
She could tell that Noah Linden had a good relationship with Anne Sutton; he was probably someone Anne had called over. So now, she wanted to suck up to Anne and get Noah’s WeChat from her.
So as soon as Anne Sutton called her, she immediately sidled up to her. "Sis, you were looking for me?"
Hearing her call her "Sis," Anne Sutton found it laughable.
She asked Yvonne Evans, "Were you the one who showed Sharon the photos?"
When Anne Sutton brought this up, Yvonne Evans felt a pang of guilt, but she kept an innocent look on her face. "I just saw that she was about to give birth and was being kept in the dark. I felt a little sorry for her, so I told her what was going on! I just didn’t want her to be deceived. I didn’t do it on purpose! Sis, I was just trying to do what was best for her! See, it was that scumbag who cheated on her."
Anne Sutton looked at Yvonne Evans’s pitiful act, raised her hand, and slapped her straight across the face.
Immediately, Yvonne Evans’s face turned red. She clutched her cheek, looking at Anne Sutton in disbelief. "You hit me?"
Anne Sutton said, "If Sharon hadn’t made it through today, I wouldn’t have just hit you, I would have killed you. You are truly malicious! I’ve never met a woman as venomous as you!"
’The grudges between the adults were their own business. The past was past, and Anne couldn’t be bothered with it.
But she never imagined Yvonne Evans would actually try to kill Sharon Sutton!
She deliberately told Sharon something like that just to watch her get upset, didn’t she? Fully aware that her sister was about to give birth, that she was in a critical state.
How could anyone be so vicious!’
Hearing what Anne Sutton said, Yvonne Evans retorted, "You can’t just blame me now because something happened to Sharon Sutton! This has nothing to do with me."
As she spoke, she wiped away tears, looking deeply wronged.
Sean Sutton walked over. Yvonne Evans looked at him. "Dad."
Sean Sutton asked Anne Sutton, "What’s going on here?"
Anne Sutton looked at Sean Sutton and said, "Don’t you think you owe me an explanation for what happened today? You and Mom are divorced. We haven’t bothered you! What do you people want? You can’t stand to see us living? Are you trying to drive our family to death? Will that finally make you happy?"
Sean Sutton said, "Anne, what are you talking about? I know you’re angry that something happened to Sharon, but this really has nothing to do with Yvonne! If you want to blame someone, blame that David Hayes. I already gave him a beating when I got here today."
"I’ll settle the score with David Hayes, but don’t think you all are getting away with this either!"
Yvonne Evans hid behind Sean Sutton, who said to Anne Sutton, "Don’t just assume everything is our fault! Sharon was giving birth, we just wanted to come and see. And now you’re blaming us for that?"
"Who needed you to come see?" Anne Sutton retorted. "Did we invite you? You’d probably be happy if she died!"
At this, Anne Sutton looked over at Maya Evans, who was standing to the side.
’After hearing her mother’s story, she was convinced the mother-daughter pair had come just to stir up trouble. Despite their innocent act, she knew they were probably gloating inside.’
Maya Evans said, "What kind of talk is that? I guess we shouldn’t have come, then!"
"You definitely shouldn’t have come!"
"Anne Sutton!" Maya Evans said. "Don’t you go too far! Your father and I went all the way to Veridia to see you before, and look how you humiliated us! We haven’t dared to leave the house for days! And now, you want to pin some other crime on us?"
"Your own hands aren’t clean, why would I need to pin anything on you?" Anne Sutton looked at her, finding it ridiculous. "If you’re so afraid of getting into trouble, then you shouldn’t have shown your face in front of me."
"So what do you want?" Maya Evans said. "Your own sister has terrible taste in men, and now you’re blaming our Yvonne for it! Ha! With a sister like you, she deserves it! She deserves to be screwed over by a scumbag like that! This is your karma, understand?"
"Try saying that again."
"I said this is your karma!" Maya Evans said provocatively.
Anne Sutton looked at her, walked right up, grabbed her by the hair, and gave her two hard slaps. "Don’t think for a second that I’m in a good mood! You two are both responsible for what happened to Sharon. Since you’re so eager for me to hit you, I’m happy to oblige."
