It was Noah Linden. The two men he brought with him pulled Mrs. Hayes away. Noah supported Mrs. Sutton and asked, "Mrs. Sutton, are you all right?"

Yvonne Evans stood to the side, watching Noah Linden. ’This man...’

’He’s so handsome!’

When Mrs. Sutton saw it was Noah Linden, she felt an instant sense of relief, as if an ally had arrived. "Noah, Sharon... she..."

"I’ve already heard." Anne Sutton had called him. She couldn’t get here in time, so she’d asked Noah to come check on things first.

And so he had.

Noah said, "Let’s go see Sharon first."

He walked into the hospital room with Mrs. Sutton.

Sharon Sutton had just been stabilized and was lying on the bed. Her lips were colorless from the blood loss, making her look almost lifeless.

Wiping her tears, Mrs. Sutton said, "The baby’s gone. Maybe that’s for the best. As long as she’s okay, that’s all that matters."

When it first happened, she had been terrified of losing Sharon, too. Thankfully, the doctors here were competent, and Sharon had pulled through.

But the baby was truly gone.

Noah Linden stood by her side in silence.

David Hayes walked over, looked at Mrs. Sutton, and said, "Mom."

Mrs. Sutton glared at the man. ’He was nowhere to be found when his mother was making that outrageous scene, and now he shows up...’

Mrs. Sutton asked, "Where were you just now?"

"The doctor needed to speak with me."

David Hayes said, "As long as Sharon’s okay, that’s what matters."

"Okay?" Mrs. Sutton retorted. "Does she look okay to you? My daughter nearly died giving birth to your child! David Hayes, you’re a monster!"

’If his affair with Lucy Todd hadn’t been discovered, the Evans family would never have had an opportunity to stir up trouble, and things wouldn’t have ended up like this.’

’When it all came down to it, the blame lay with this scumbag of a man for breaking Sharon’s heart.’

David Hayes’s eyes darkened at Mrs. Sutton’s words. "I didn’t want things to turn out like this! The baby is gone, and I’m heartbroken too."

"Heartbroken? You could have fooled me! Take your family and get the hell out of here. I don’t want to see any of you."

"..." David Hayes said, "Sharon isn’t awake yet. I can’t leave."

Mrs. Sutton couldn’t be bothered to argue with him. Noah Linden accompanied her as she sat down.

...

David Hayes stepped out of the room. Mrs. and Mr. Hayes were both waiting outside. With Noah Linden’s men now standing guard, she didn’t dare try to force her way in.

When she saw David come out, she hurried to his side and whispered, "The baby’s gone now. You absolutely cannot go soft on them. You have to make their family take responsibility for this. Use this as leverage to get them to give you a promotion! Do you understand?"

Her mind worked fast. The moment the incident occurred, her first thought was how to maximize her own gain.

As for her supposed grief over her grandchild, it was just an act to get what she wanted.

David Hayes shot his mother a look. "Why are you bringing this up now?"

"If you don’t..." Mrs. Hayes started, "are you just going to let them get away with it? Are you an idiot? I heard from the hospital staff that this whole mess was caused by one of their own family members! See that woman over there? That’s Sean Sutton’s mistress! She’s the one who came into the room to cause trouble and made this happen!"

David Hayes glanced up at Yvonne and Maya Evans. He knew, of course, that they were involved.

He hadn’t been in the room at the time; by the time he got there, it was already too late for Sharon.

...

David Hayes’s mood soured as he looked at the two women. ’It was Yvonne Evans who took those photos!’

’She exposed his secret!’

’And created this whole mess!’

’Now the baby was gone, and with it, his only real tie to Sharon. She also knew about him and Lucy Todd. What would she do?’

’Will she divorce me?’

’If she divorces me, will I even be able to keep my job at Fawcett Group?’

A crushing sense of crisis made it impossible for David Hayes to face what was happening, but he knew he had no choice.

If he couldn’t win Sharon back, everything would fall apart.

He strode over to Yvonne Evans. "It was you? You’re the one who did this to Sharon?"

"What are you talking about?" Seeing him come over to blame her, Yvonne Evans wasn’t about to be anyone’s scapegoat. "Isn’t she like this because of you, you scumbag? She only ended up this way because she found out you were cheating on her!"

David Hayes gritted his teeth. Mrs. Sutton had known about the affair but had kept quiet for Sharon’s sake.

He never imagined Yvonne would be the one to blurt it out!

He glared at her. "I’ll strangle you!"

And with that, he lunged forward and wrapped his hands around Yvonne Evans’s neck.

Maya Evans jumped in fright and rushed to pull him off. "What are you doing? Let Yvonne go!"

Just then, Sean Sutton arrived. Seeing David Hayes dare to lay a hand on his daughter, he strode over and landed several kicks on him.

Sean Sutton may have been getting on in years, but he still had plenty of strength.

David Hayes, a young man who was more used to books and office work, was no match for Sean Sutton in that moment.

More importantly, he didn’t dare fight back. After all, this was his father-in-law...

If he actually hit him, it would be impossible to smooth things over.

"Dad!" Seeing her father come to her rescue, Yvonne quickly hid behind him.

Sean Sutton pointed at David Hayes. "David Hayes, you shameless bastard! I’m not around and you think you can do whatever you want? How dare you hit my Yvonne! Who the hell do you think you are?"

David Hayes exclaimed, "She’s the one who did this to Sharon!"

Sean Sutton froze at his words and turned to Yvonne. "What happened to Sharon?"

"Dad, it has nothing to do with me! It was his fault..." Yvonne said. "Sharon found out about him and that other woman, that’s what caused this! It’s not like I told her on purpose. How was I supposed to know she’d react like that? If I’d known she’d get so worked up, I wouldn’t have said anything! But this is obviously David Hayes’s fault!"

Looking at his daughter’s innocent expression, Sean Sutton naturally didn’t blame her. In his mind, all of this was David Hayes’s fault.

He glared at David Hayes. "Were you cheating on Sharon behind her back? Huh? And now you’re trying to blame Yvonne? You’ve really got some nerve! If her mother hadn’t insisted on spoiling her, I never would have let Sharon marry a man like you!"

The sight of David’s pathetic state only made Sean Sutton angrier.

Yvonne Evans stood to the side, watching the scene unfold in great spirits.

’She had never liked Anne or Sharon to begin with.’

’Her own life was miserable, so she couldn’t stand to see Sharon and Anne living happily!’

’A chaotic scene like this was just perfect!’

David Hayes stood by, looking at Sean Sutton without a word.

Sean Sutton shot him a glare, then walked through the door. Seeing Mrs. Sutton, he asked, "How’s Sharon?"
