Ryan Linden came over today. By the time he arrived, Lana Langley had already finished breakfast and left for work.

She hadn’t worked in a long time. Having just started a new job recently, she was especially motivated every day.

Donna sat to the side, watching his father with a hint of wariness.

He was just a child, but... he also hated the way Ryan Linden usually hit his wife.

Nathan Fawcett and Anne Sutton came downstairs and saw Ryan Linden sitting there, along with Anna Linden.

Anna Linden had stayed up all night. She was yawning, looking very tired, and her expression wasn’t great either.

Seeing Ryan Linden sitting there, Nathan Fawcett said, "Why are you here?"

Ryan Linden shot him a glare and ignored him, turning instead to Anna Linden. "Aunt, you have to sort this out for me! How can Nathan Fawcett act like this? How long has he let Lana and Donna stay here!"

Hearing Ryan Linden’s words, Anna Linden’s gaze fell on his face. "Your wife is living here, and even I haven’t found it bothersome. What are you complaining about? Besides, what does this have to do with Nathan?"

"..." Seeing his aunt immediately rebuff him, Ryan Linden retorted indignantly, "It was Nathan Fawcett who insisted on keeping them here! If he doesn’t give the word, how would I dare take Lana back?"

"But from what I’ve seen, you’re not usually one to pay him much mind!" Anna Linden said. "If you really wanted to take them back, do you think you couldn’t?"

"Granduncle said we have to listen to him on family matters."

"Then what’s the use of coming to me now?"

"I have no other choice!" Ryan Linden said helplessly. "Right now, you’re the only one in the family who can stand up for me."

When Anna Linden protected Nathan Fawcett, he would go tattle to the old master.

Now that the old master was even more protective than Anna Linden, he could only turn back to her for help.

Looking at his pathetic display, Anna Linden almost laughed.

’Honestly, I’m busy as hell all day. Where would I find the energy to deal with him!’

She said to Ryan Linden, "How about this? You write a letter of guarantee, promising you won’t hit your wife anymore. Then bring it to me, and I’ll see how well you’ve written it. If it’s good, I’ll let Lana Langley go back with you."

Hearing the words "letter of guarantee," Ryan Linden looked at Anna Linden suspiciously, wondering if there was something wrong with her.

’She’s my wife, why should I write some letter of guarantee?’

Ryan Linden said, "Aunt!"

Anna Linden looked at him and chuckled. "Then what do you suggest? If you don’t change this habit of hitting your wife, you’re going to bring shame to our entire family. Nathan is also doing this for your own good!"

"For my own good?" Looking at Nathan Fawcett and Anne Sutton, who had just come downstairs, Ryan Linden couldn’t agree with Anna Linden’s words. "Nathan Fawcett is just using this as an excuse to target me. He wants to see my family torn apart and my home destroyed. He’s vicious!"

Nathan Fawcett walked over, his eyes landing on Ryan Linden. "What are you doing here? The sight of you is enough to make me lose my appetite."

Anne Sutton glanced at his cold demeanor and the corners of her mouth lifted slightly.

"Nathan Fawcett!" Ryan Linden grit his teeth.

He was furious every time he saw Nathan Fawcett, but he could only blame himself for being powerless...

’Otherwise, I wouldn’t let him off the hook!’

Seeing him like this, Nathan Fawcett wasn’t angry; he simply didn’t take him seriously.

Nathan Fawcett spoke up. "If there’s nothing else, you should go home. Don’t bring every little thing to my mother. She’s busy every day. Where would she find the energy to deal with your problems!"

"I’m going to say it anyway," Ryan Linden said. "You have a guilty conscience, that’s why you’re afraid of my aunt finding out, right? I’m telling her, so what are you going to do about it!"

"..." Nathan Fawcett stared at the man. "Are you a grade-schooler?"

"From now on, as long as you don’t let Lana and the child go home, I’ll come here every day to annoy you."

"Mr. Walters," Nathan Fawcett said, addressing Butler Walters.

Butler Walters immediately stepped forward. "Understood!"

He was about to call people to escort Ryan Linden out.

Seeing this, Ryan Linden quickly whined, "Aunt."

Anna Linden adopted a reasonable tone. "Didn’t I just tell you? Go write the letter of guarantee. As long as you write it well and behave yourself, I’ll talk to Nathan. Making a scene here is useless."

’If he makes a scene, Nathan has plenty of ways to deal with him!’

So, he could only be reasonable.

Ryan Linden grit his teeth and had no choice but to agree to Anna Linden’s proposal.

He stood up, glanced at Nathan Fawcett, and said, "Nathan Fawcett, you just wait and see."

Anne Sutton sat beside Nathan Fawcett, watching Ryan’s pathetic figure as he left. Her gaze then fell on Anna Linden. "Dr. Linden, good morning."

Anna Linden said, "I’m not going to the hospital today. I’m taking a day off to rest at home."

Anne Sutton nodded. "Okay."

Anna Linden rarely took days off.

But she hadn’t slept last night.

’Maybe she’s just been wanting to rest recently, too.’

...

Anna Linden asked, "What has Lana Langley been up to lately? How come she hasn’t been making a racket around the house these past few days?"

She used to be idle and gluttonous, always making a fuss with her child. As long as she was home, you could hear her voice.

Anne Sutton replied, "Lana Langley went to work! She found a job. Since she started working, her temper has improved too!"

"Working?" Anna Linden was a little surprised.

"And that’s not all," Anne Sutton said. "When Ryan Linden came looking for her the other day, she even talked back to him. She got a job and wants to support her child on her own. I think she’s been doing great lately."

"She graduated from a prestigious university, you know. If it weren’t for the fact that she’s a bit overweight, she never would have ended up with Ryan Linden. But after they got together, I don’t know how things ended up like this."

Sometimes, looking at her, Anna Linden found herself thinking that marriage was a terrifying thing... how it gradually changed a person!

She wasn’t just thinking of Lana Langley, but of herself as well...

She remembered how she herself had almost become like Lana, her days revolving around her child, placing all her energy onto another man, making him her entire pillar of emotional support.

That was why she had been so furious when she found out he had betrayed her.

Anne Sutton said, "Let her stay here a while longer! Just in case Ryan Linden starts troubling her again if she goes back."

"Fine."

After finishing her meal, Anna Linden went upstairs.

Anne Sutton sat next to Nathan Fawcett and said, "Actually, Dr. Linden can be quite charming sometimes."

Nathan Fawcett’s gaze fell upon her, and he smiled. "Is that so?"

"It’s true," Anne Sutton said. "Your mother is quite nice, as long as she’s not targeting someone. Then she’s not so scary."

Listening to her words, Nathan Fawcett almost laughed out loud.

He said, "I remember you used to like her quite a bit."

She had started to dislike Anna Linden, to become disillusioned with her, when Anna, knowing full well Nathan Fawcett’s health was poor, forced him to eat spicy food.

From that moment on, she no longer saw Anna Linden through rose-colored glasses...

In fact, she had come to dislike her more and more.

Anne Sutton just smiled.

Because Mrs. Sutton hadn’t returned, Anne Sutton had been staying at the Linden Family’s home recently.

Soon, the day of Sharon Sutton’s delivery was approaching.

...

Sharon Sutton’s belly was already very large.

During this time, David Hayes had also been focusing his energy on her.

It wasn’t because he had realized how difficult things were for Sharon Sutton, but rather... Mrs. Sutton was also there with her, and he was afraid that if he didn’t act more attentive, Mrs. Sutton would get angry.
