’He’s got some nerve!’

’Could he be any more thick-skinned?’

Charles Prescott saw that Anne Sutton had hung up. He tried calling again, but she didn’t answer.

He stared at his phone, speechless.

Grace came in and placed a glass of warm water on his desk. "Sir."

Charles Prescott looked up at her and asked, "Is my voice really that unpleasant?"

After Henry Underwood returned, Grace had remained in the CEO’s office, though her responsibilities were not as extensive as before.

"Not at all!" Grace said.

Charles Prescott was not lacking in any department, be it looks or other qualities.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had so many women falling head over heels for him.

"But Anne Sutton said the sound of my voice makes her want to throw up," Charles Prescott said.

"..." Grace said, "I suppose Ms. Sutton doesn’t like you. When you dislike someone, everything they do seems wrong."

Charles Prescott said, "I could understand it when she wanted to marry up by getting with Ethan Linden and joining the Linden Family, but now... why would she still choose Ethan over me? What’s so great about Ethan Linden now?"

’I don’t know why, but Ethan was kicked out of the Linden Family!’

Grace looked at Charles Prescott, wanting to say something but not daring to.

’After all, this is his private business. It has nothing to do with me.’

She looked at Charles Prescott and said, "If there’s nothing else for today, may I head home now?"

Charles Prescott checked the time and realized it was already past closing.

He stood up and walked out the door, with Grace following behind him.

Nathan Fawcett was leaving the company with Ian and happened to run into Charles Prescott.

When Charles Prescott saw Nathan Fawcett, his gaze fell on Ian.

He looked at the father and son and, for some reason, recalled how much Anne Sutton seemed to like children.

’Maybe it’s because this child is about the same age as her deceased child... so that’s why she’s more fond of Nathan Fawcett?’

Remembering that she had also looked after his own Leo before, Charles Prescott’s lips curled into a smile. ’It’s just a kid!’

’I have one too, don’t I?’

...

「Friday evening.」

Anne Sutton had just gotten off work. She was happy at the thought of having the next day off.

She had just parked her car at the gate when she heard a child’s voice call out, "Auntie Sutton."

’For a second, Anne almost thought Ian was back!’

’But when she looked closer, she saw that the person at the door was... Leo?’

It was Charles Prescott and Sylvia Warren’s child!

She remembered how she used to hate Charles Prescott to the bone, so much that she had wanted to take it out on his child.

But in the end, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.

Seeing Leo here now, Anne Sutton was a bit surprised. "Leo, what are you doing here?"

"My dad brought me!" Leo walked up to Anne Sutton and said, "Auntie Sutton, I miss my mommy!"

"..." Since Charles Prescott and Sylvia Warren had separated, the child had been living with Charles, and it was difficult for Sylvia to even see him.

Hearing this, Anne Sutton frowned and asked, "Where’s your dad?"

"I don’t know. He told me to wait here," Leo said, looking pitiful.

Although he was spoiled by Charles Prescott’s grandmother to the point that Anne sometimes found him unlikeable, he was still just a child.

Seeing how late it was, Anne Sutton said, "Come on inside first."

She led Leo through the door and picked up her phone to call Charles Prescott.

Soon, Charles Prescott’s voice came through the line. "What’s this? Calling me on your own initiative? Didn’t you say you didn’t want to hear my voice?"

’Just as I thought. Children are her weak spot.’

"Are you a freaking idiot?" Anne Sutton was furious. "What’s the meaning of this, dumping your kid at my place? Get someone to pick him up right now, or I’ll throw him out onto the street."

"Then go ahead and throw him out!" Charles Prescott said. "I’m having dinner with a client right now. I’m busy. I probably won’t be able to come over until later. Just watch him for me!"

"You’ve got a lot of nerve, asking me to babysit for you. Where are you? I’ll have someone bring him to you."

She had no interest in looking after this child!

He had nothing to do with her.

And besides...

It was because of this child who appeared out of nowhere that she had suffered so much in the first place!

Her mood soured just thinking about it.

Charles Prescott said, "I don’t know. I told you, I’ll be back when I’m done."

With that, he hung up.

Anne Sutton sat on the sofa and saw Leo sitting to the side, drinking a yogurt drink with intense focus.

She looked at Leo and asked, "You really don’t know where your dad is?"

Leo nodded. "I don’t know."

He was so young; of course he wouldn’t know where Charles Prescott was.

Anne Sutton looked at the little boy. She didn’t know what Charles Prescott was planning, but an idea had already formed in her mind.

She picked up her phone and called Sylvia Warren.

Sylvia Warren was surprised to get her call. "Ms. Sutton."

"Do you want to see Leo?"

Hearing this, Sylvia Warren was taken aback. "Of course I do, but Charles Prescott won’t let me see him."

"Where are you? I’ll have someone bring the child to you."

"Can you do that?" Sylvia Warren asked, astonished.

"Of course! Just come to Veridia!"

Sylvia Warren said, "I’m actually in Veridia right now for a shoot. Give me the address, and I’ll come over immediately."

Anne Sutton sent her the address.

...

Leo, sitting to the side, looked at Anne Sutton and asked, "Auntie Sutton, who are you calling?"

"I’m calling your mom." Anne Sutton looked at him and asked, "You haven’t seen your mom in a long time, have you? Do you want to see her?"

"Of course I do," Leo said. "I miss my mommy so much! But Daddy won’t let me see her. I really miss her, I even cry at night."

Anne Sutton said, "Don’t worry, she’ll be here to see you soon!"

’I refuse to believe Charles Prescott won’t get anxious over this.’

’If he doesn’t want the child, there are plenty of people who do!’

As a mother herself, Anne Sutton knew all too well how much a mother longed to see her child.

While waiting for Sylvia Warren, Anne Sutton made herself something to eat.

She sat to the side eating while on a video call with Nathan Fawcett.

Nathan Fawcett saw Leo sitting nearby and asked, "What’s he doing there?"

Anne Sutton said, "Him? He was at my gate when I got home today. Charles Prescott left him here! I don’t know what’s gotten into him. It’s one thing for him to show up, but he brought his kid along too."

Nathan Fawcett said, "He’s lost his mind! You should have someone send him back."

Anne Sutton said, "He wouldn’t give me his address, and I can’t be bothered to track him down. I’ve already notified the boy’s mother to come pick him up."

Since splitting with Charles Prescott, Sylvia Warren had actually landed some roles in the entertainment industry and was starting to make a small name for herself.

When she and Charles Prescott had separated, he had said he would compensate her.

That compensation came in the form of some entertainment industry resources.

Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton. "Why did Charles Prescott suddenly show up looking for you?"

"I have no idea," Anne Sutton said. "Aren’t you in Westhaven? You didn’t know he was coming over?"

Nathan Fawcett said, "I haven’t seen him for the past couple of days. I heard he was out on business, so I didn’t pay it any mind. And it turns out... he ran off to find you!"

"..." Anne Sutton said, "Who knows with him! I have no idea what he’s thinking. The last time he called, he said that I only like you because of Ian. He said he has a child too! You don’t think... that’s why he sent his son over, do you?"
