Chapter 459 – Origin Store’s Day... Once Again!
Cassius’s and Tysche’s excitement was overwhelming, making Ananke and Marvela frown at how loud they were.
As for Isolde, she was really close to giving her husband an earthshaking slap.
He couldn’t exhaust her the whole night, leaving her back aching and her legs shaking as if vibrators had been planted on every inch of them, and then refuse to let her sleep properly.
That was unacceptable.
Fortunately for Cassius, however, Isolde could simply erase the sound of his voice so that it couldn’t reach her. And that was what she did.
Yet there was one being, a very angry one, who couldn’t put up with Cassius’s screaming and Tysche cackling like a madwoman.
"Can you shut up!" Scarlet Red, Primal Queen of Fire, growled as she appeared in front of Cassius in a burst of flames.
Cassius blinked, looking at her. Scarlet had taken on a pixie-like form, her red skin glowing with multicolored veins, her eyes made of fire glaring at her Contractor. "I was in the middle of a very important study of your Concept before you disturbed me with your bloody shouting. Do you think it’s easy to be the Progenitor of a new type of Spirit?"
Cassius grinned. He didn’t look at her right away.
His eyes were fixed on the Coin of Maybe in his hand, which had landed on heads.
The exact result he had been hoping for.
He had made two statements before flipping the coin. The first was that he would obtain, from all three of today’s items, things he would greatly need in the near future.
He placed that statement on heads.
Then, for tails, Cassius chose that he would obtain items that would be useful not to him, but to the people around him.
With these two Statements, the Last Born didn’t mind which side the Coin landed on, even though he preferred heads.
And for that, he had used all his Luck Points and even Tysche’s help to shift the probability in his favor.
It worked.
Smiling, he looked at the Origin Store’s interface and saw that it was still processing. He swiftly calculated how much OP he had gathered all this time, and was happy to realize that it was 678,000 OP.
The highest amount he had ever gathered.
With that, Cassius didn’t doubt that today’s Saturday Origin Store would be bountiful.
Only after assessing all of that did he finally turn his attention to Scarlet, who was still glaring at him.
"It’s been a while since you came to see me, Scarlet. And when you finally do, it’s to shout at me." He made a mock-hurt face. "Queen’s blessing, you didn’t even congratulate me on my Wedding."
"I don’t care about your Wedding," Scarlet said. "You think I don’t have better things to do than that?"
"It would have taken you less than three seconds, by the way."
"I think you missed the part where I said I don’t care."
"That’s quite fair," Cassius said, then leaned forward a bit to get a better look at Scarlet. "Still, I am perplexed. I thought we had gotten closer after our two recent Heists, but I can see I was the only one who thought so. At this point, Scarlet, you must tell me what I have done to earn your distaste. Because I remember nothing."
Then he cocked his head to one side. "Or don’t tell me you dislike me for things I haven’t done? Things I have no control over?"
"Are you in the mood to get burned today, maybe?" Scarlet said, and the temperature began to rise.
Cassius only smiled, his own eyes glowing as his Sun Core, now acting as his heart, began to rotate, pumping sun-blessed blood and essence through his whole body.
"I am simply asking a question. Is that a crime?"
"Don’t try to act smart with me, kiddo."
"I don’t need to act. I am smart."
Scarlet narrowed her flaming eyes.
The Last Born observed her for a moment before shrugging, then spoke. "Alright, say it." He stopped using his Sun Core and leaned back once more. "I know you are not here because I shouted too loudly. Do you want something?"
Strangely, she didn’t even hesitate.
"I need something from you to help me better understand your Concept and how to birth Sun Spirits," the Primal Queen said, crossing her arms under her breasts. "I need your sperm."
The world paused, and Isolde, sleeping on Cassius’s lap, suddenly twitched.
Ananke coughed with sudden awkwardness, while Tysche shouted at Scarlet to leave the sperm talk for later. Marvela was eyeing Scarlet like a hawk, wondering how this spirit dared to ask for something she herself hadn’t dared to ask for.
As for Cassius, he was utterly stunned. He stared blankly at Scarlet, thinking she was joking, but the Primal Queen’s face was dead serious.
"Don’t look at me like that," she hissed, annoyed by Cassius’s judgmental stare. "It’s for research purposes! You want your Concept to spread or not? Then what better way to study how to spread it than by examining the very thing responsible for spreading life in the first place: your sperm! How do you think humans reproduce? Or any other race, for that matter? By breeding! And what makes breeding possible? Your damn sperm! So stop looking at me like I’m some kind of pervert and give it to me!"
"Queen’s breath..." Cassius cursed. He could see the logic behind Scarlet’s demand, but his own sperm? To a woman other than his wife?
It was so profoundly ridiculous that he was left speechless, looking at her blankly.
So, not knowing what to say, the Last Born gently ignored Scarlet as the Origin Store finally finished processing the items.
"Let’s talk about that... later," he said in a tight tone, his eye twitching, then focused on the panel flickering in front of him.
Scarlet wanted to shout, but Cassius grabbed her small body and put her on top of his head.
The action was comical enough to earn a chuckle from Ananke.
Now that Scarlet was his Spirit, the Primal Queen could see the system interface too.
So before she even had time to complain and burn Cassius’s hair to oblivion, she fell silent as the items were presented, embarrassingly interested.
’This damn kid!’ she cried out internally, hmphing.
[These are today’s Three Items!]
[BloodCore of an Infant Guardian Beast of the Second Seat of the Kruppe Kingdom’s Magic Bloodline (Tier Four):
This is the BloodCore of the Blessed Nightlight Deer, one of the Seven Beasts found only within the Kruppe Kingdom, where they serve as its Guardians.
This Beast is rather special, possessing an enormous potential for Magic, the Special Art of the Kingdom itself.
We don’t know whether you can guess where this is going, dear Cassius, but if your little Beast absorbs this Core, it could very well become a Blessed Nightlight Deer itself, wielding the power of Magic based on the power bestowed upon it by Albert Desdemona.
But beware, Last Born, for there can only ever be one Blessed Nightlight Deer in the world.
Should another come into existence, the first will know, and both Beasts will be consumed by an irresistible urge to hunt down and kill the other, until only one remains.
If you choose to follow this Path, know that your battle against the Second Seat of the Kruppe Kingdom will become inevitable.
Because they will know.
We dare you.
(200,000 OP).]
[Sword of Horizon’s Swordbook (Unique Item): The Sword of Horizon was among the rare few who, despite not being gods themselves, possessed enough power to make even the gods think twice before engaging them in battle.
He was, quite simply, someone extraordinary enough to stand among the divine while remaining... human, in the broadest sense of the word.
Intriguing, isn’t it?
He wrote this book out of sheer boredom, shortly after killing a Tier One with a single slash, having just bedded the monster’s wife, in the faint hope that he might one day find a worthy successor.
Not that he held much hope, mind you. In his eyes, there was simply no one in existence whose talent with the sword could ever satisfy him.
So, what do you say?
Do you intend to prove him wrong?
(75,000 OP).]
[A Meeting in the Sun (Special Item — Created for You):
Your Sun Core is still in its infancy, and your Sun Essence remains insufficient. This Ticket will grant you exactly three minutes within the Sun, under our protection.
To return, you must simply wish to do so, and the Ticket will bring you back. Should you fail to make that wish, however, you will remain there.
And we will pray for your departed soul.
Be warned, however, that even with our protection, this remains extremely dangerous, for an Error has claimed the Sun itself as her Territory.
We cannot guarantee your safety. Not entirely.
You have been warned, Last Born.
(400,000 OP).]
[What catches your fancy, and what can your pocket afford?]
Cassius’s eyes widened the instant they landed on the last item, and Ananke cursed the whole world for giving her Blessed such a dangerous thing.
[By the Abyss...]
