She went back and the two of them were going to spend some time together but, because of something that was happening in the place that they had decided on, a place that was then overwhelmed with some kind of commotion, they had to cancel the plans for the evening and had to part ways only after spending a little time together eating something that wasn’t as romantic as she would have liked it be.

However, she invited him on a date on the weekend right before she left him sitting stunned in the garden.

It was an invitation that came out of nowhere and the way she said it while standing before her stating sun, with a smile on her face, gave him a strange feeling, and after he was left alone… many thoughts covered his mind.

‘Who is this person?’

‘What does she want from me?’

‘Why does my stomach feel strange whenever I look at her?’

‘Is she interested in me or something…? That can’t be, right? Why would anyone be interested in someone like me?’

He was thinking if this was one of those rare cases where women were attracted to how one looked.

His master had once warned him there would be people that would be attracted to him because of how he looked.

And, even though he hated how he looked… he knew in the eyes of the world, the way he looked was not something normal.

One reason he wore a mask on his face was because he wanted to hide how looked and the special hooded robes he wore were also to hide his physical features.

‘I’m ugly…’

He was a bad person in his eyes and even though his visible physical features were attractive, he was a bad person.

“Haaa…”

She went back to her house and they were going to meet after a few days, and even though her invitation was so sudden, since he didn’t even have any chance to respond to it, he wasn’t able to reject it.

Not showing up now would be discourteous and his master’s teachings wouldn’t allow him to do something that wasn’t appropriate.

That’s why, he had no choice but to at least show up for this ‘date’ and respectfully ask her to forget about him.

He was new to this city and he didn’t know if he would stay here for long or not.

His master had told him the capital would be a good place to start his new career and he was going to see if there really was anything worth staying in this city for long.

Adventurers are free spirits that travel the world and see things, find things, discover things, and do things that people normally are afraid of.

They go from one place to the other, stay in certain places for a short while, and they travel for most of their lives before they find a place where they could spend the rest of their lives… and build a house to live in.

However, before that, they mostly stay in inns.

“Here you go, mister. The room no.12 is the last one on the left side-.”

“Send the best things you have, along with a tub of water, and keep the change.”

He placed a silver coin on the desk of the reception and though it stunned the young looking girl once again, she didn’t have much time to process this situation as the tall man that placed the rare coin before her had walked away with the key.

This wasn’t his first time staying in an inn so even though the one he was staying for now was small, he knew how things worked both in an inn, and with people that one usually finds in places like these.

“Hahah, hey friend! Won’t you join us-.”

“Step aside, bastard. He’s a respected guest!”

“We saw him first, back off you pig bastards.”

He was just about to walk up the straits when a bunch of people stopped him and gathered all around him.

“Haha, young friend! I see you have some good clothes! By any chance, are you also an adventurer~.”

“We are an adventurer party. We have three <C> ranks and five <D> ranks! Just tell us if you want to join us!”

This was an usual occurrence.

“Hello mister… your clothes make it seem to be a mage. Are you a magic user by any chance?”

“Haha! This must be fate~! What rank are you, young boy? If it’s proper enough, I’ll even let you join our team.”

He was wearing his cape and he was wearing his mask, so they couldn’t see his physical features but as experienced individuals, they could tell he was a useful man that they could use well.

He was also alone so the possibility that they could recruit him into his team was good enough.

Some of them present here genuinely wanted him to be part of their team… however most of them weren’t here for something pure.

“That was the only coin I had, so go back.”

He tried pushing them and going past them but, even though a few stepped aside, the rest of them blocked him in his way with new, angry expressions.

“Bastard.”

“He looks tough and those clothes look good so he should have a few more on him.”

“No shit.”

“No one in their right mind would spend the last coin they have on them.”

“An entire silver coin at that.”

“And that coin looked good as well… we had received a similar one from our last commission.”

“Didn’t we? I should check it.”

“He might have stolen it from us, right?”

“It’s people in good clothes that steal from us hardworking men. Hey! Give that coin here! Let me check-.”

A man in the very back of the group moved towards the reception while looking at the young girl with dangerous, greedy eyes.

“Oy.”
