Interstellar Beast World: All My Husbands Are Powerful and Rich!
Chapter 440: Silly brain
Fantastic. The idiot teammate is on the opponent’s side.
Suppressing a smile, Rory maintained a deadly serious look on her face. "The Divine Battlefield is indeed the most fitting place."
Seeing that Rory had agreed, Yilan chimed in hurriedly, "Then what are we waiting for? Let’s get moving right now!" She was terrified that if they delayed by even a single second, Rory might change her mind.
Facing Yilan’s eager nudging, Bree stood rooted to the spot without budging. She looked at Rory with a gaze steeped in a hint of suspicion. "Rory, are you really willing to wager all of your companions on a bet?"
She wasn’t blind. She could tell that Rory cared deeply about these companions of hers. Companions were nothing like unbonded matches; if a Female Master used them as bargaining chips and lost them, their spiritual power would rapidly collapse, leading to self-destruction. Is Rory truly willing to let Vincent and the others die?
Rory cast a glance at Xarion, then smiled as she said to Bree, "I have complete faith in Xarion’s strength, so of course I dare to bet. I’m just afraid that you won’t be able to part with Sylas, Bree, and won’t dare to take the gamble."
Saying this, Rory spared a brief glance at Sylas. "After all, Sylas only recently reached rank eleven. He might not be much of a match for Xarion."
Understanding dawned on Bree. No wonder Rory dared to accept—she simply had absolute confidence in Xarion. True enough, Xarion’s bizarre ability was indeed formidable; defeating him wouldn’t be easy under normal circumstances.
Unfortunately for her, Rory had no idea that she possessed a guaranteed method to deal with Xarion.
"I believe in Sylas as well," Bree said with a grin. "Rory, since you agreed to the bet, we’ll gamble according to the terms set by Sylas and your companion, Xarion. If Sylas wins, all of your companions belong to me. If Sylas loses, all of my companions belong to you."
Since Bree wasn’t a beastman, she didn’t dare speak any vows to the Beast God.
"Deal. Let’s head to the Divine Demise Battlefield right away," Rory agreed readily.
What bet? No such thing existed. The moment they arrived at the Divine Battlefield, the very first thing they were going to strike down was this Zerg bug named Bree.
The group immediately dispatched their respective airships and set off toward the Divine Battlefield.
Yilan seized the opportunity to slip over to Bree’s side, whispering softly, "Bree, I don’t just want Vincent and Yuel—I want that Wen too." Rory’s companions were all far too exceptional; Yilan wanted every single one of them. "Oh, right, and that Nix guy. Even though he seems a bit dumb, he’s actually kind of cute. Plus, he knows how to build mechas, so I suppose I’ll reluctantly keep him around."
Listening to Yilan’s demands, Bree rolled her eyes speechlessly in her mind. This fool is average-looking yet dreams so big, wanting everything under the sun. Why doesn’t she just drop dead? Once she’s dead, she won’t have all these foolish delusions anymore.
"Got it," Bree nodded at Yilan with a warm smile.
Once she helped Sylas win the bet, she would make all of Rory’s companions drink the drug she brought along. After that, Yilan, her companions, and Rory would no longer need to return to the Central District alive.
Inside Rory’s airship.
Rory watched through the viewport as Bree and Yilan’s airships trailed behind them. Turning to Wen, who sat beside her, she asked, "Once we reach the Divine Battlefield, I’ll have Aren and Jasper intercept Yilan’s airship. You, Vangar, and Xarion can go deal with Bree."
Wen looked at her, his eyes shimmering with pink starlight that seemed almost magnetic enough to draw anyone in. "Rory, let Xarion and Vangar fight Bree first. Isn’t Xarion close to breaking through to the next rank anyway? Engaging in a life-and-death clash with a rank-thirteen Zerg will be a fantastic opportunity for him."
"If they can’t handle it, then I’ll step in." Wen held Rory’s hand, his expression earnest. "Don’t worry, I will guarantee their safety."
Xarion added, "Female Master, what Wen said is exactly what I was thinking."
Vangar nodded along in agreement.
Seeing that they all shared the same sentiment, Rory didn’t object. She nodded softly. "Alright, then stay safe out there."
Listening to the exchange between Rory, Wen, and Xarion, Nix’s eyes filled with sheer confusion. "Rory, what are you guys talking about? Why are you sending Wen to deal with that Bree?"
Wen was just a rank-ten merman, and since they weren’t in the water right now, he couldn’t even unleash his full potential. Sending him against Bree—wasn’t that just sending him to his death?
"For something like this, wouldn’t it be more suitable to send Vincent?"
Vincent raised his hand and knocked Nix lightly on the head. "Rory is sending Wen because Wen is currently the one with the highest elemental rank among us." Has this guy really not noticed yet?
"What?!" Nix looked at Wen in utter shock. "Th-that’s... how is that possible?!"
Wait!
Nix finally realized what had felt so off during breakfast earlier. Wen knew how to make such stunning couple’s outfits, yet aside from him, guys like Yuel hadn’t asked Wen for help making any. Xarion had asked, but the instant he heard that Wen helped Rory advance her rank, he retracted his request right away!
Enlightenment struck Nix like a bolt of lightning. So back at breakfast, with just that single line about Wen helping Rory rank up, Xarion had already deduced that Wen was hiding his true strength!
"You guys are so mean! You all knew, yet nobody told me!" Nix felt wronged. Nix was furious.
"Aren’t we telling you right now?" Xarion muttered from the sofa nearby, still looking half-dead.
Nix: "..."
"Besides, it was blindingly obvious. If you used your brain just a little bit to think, you would have realized it too," Xarion sighed. With a brain this silly, how on earth did he manage to build such incredible mechas and battleships? Had all of Nix’s intelligence been spent exclusively on mecha engineering?
Ignoring Xarion, Nix walked over to Rory’s side and looked at Wen, asking out of pure curiosity, "Wen, they say you’re the strongest one in our family right now. What rank are you actually at?"
Rory turned to look at Wen as well.
Wen raised an eyebrow and replied, "Rory and I agreed that I won’t reveal my elemental rank just yet. She’s going to guess it, and if she gets it right, there’s a reward. Nix, why don’t you guess too once we deal with Bree? If you get it right, I’ll give you a reward as well. How about it?"
Hearing that, Nix’s excitement was visibly palable. "You have to keep your word—no backing out!"
Wen nodded. "I swear to the Beast God, I definitely won’t back out."
"Then I’ll guess the moment we get back from the Divine Battlefield!" Nix declared enthusiastically. Perhaps because he was used to interacting with Wen as an equal on a daily basis, Nix felt zero pressure when facing the current, overwhelmingly powerful Wen.
Wen added, "I forgot to remind you—you only get one guess per day."
"Doesn’t matter, I’ll definitely get it right on the very first try!" Nix said with absolute confidence.
Watching Nix’s overjoyed expression, Vangar and the others couldn’t help but feel that ignorance really was bliss.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Bree sat inside her airship, handing Sylas a vial of potion. "Drink this. In a moment, you’ll be able to defeat Xarion on the battlefield."
Looking at the vial in his hand, Sylas knitted his brows slightly. "I can beat Xarion just the same without drinking this potion," he said.
He had no idea what kind of vile concoction this Zerg potion was, and he had zero desire to drink it.
Standing off to the side, Hayden glanced at the potion in Sylas’s hand and spoke up as well. "Female Master, I think Sylas is right. Sylas’s elemental power is extremely strong; even without this potion, that Xarion is definitely no match for him. He will surely win all of that female Rory’s companions for you."
