Wen walked over to Rory’s side.

He pulled two chairs out from his spatial ring. "Rory, it will take them a while to get everything set up. Let’s sit down and wait for a bit."

Standing around the whole time was far too tiring.

Yilan had been staring blankly ever since Wen walked over. Why did she feel like this Wen looked somewhat different from the time she saw him at Starlight Prime Tech? Today, he seemed to radiate a bright glow—dazzlingly good-looking.

She wanted this Wen, too. She would mention it to Bree in a moment.

As Yilan was thinking, she saw Rory sit down in the chair Wen had provided. She immediately snapped at her own useless companion beside her, "Didn’t you see Sister-in-law’s companion pull out a chair for her to sit on? Are you just going to leave me standing here like this?"

Hearing this, Yilan’s companion hastily pulled out two chairs as well. "Female Master, please take a seat."

"Hmph!" Yilan gave a disgruntled huff and scolded him, "You’re not allowed to sit—just stand beside me!"

"Yes." The companion nodded, not daring to voice the slightest objection.

Seeing that her companion hadn’t brought out a chair for her, Bree didn’t throw a fit. Instead, she brought out two chairs herself and invited her companion to sit with her.

The companion standing by Bree’s side was Hayden—the same male Rory had seen at the Military Department that day.

Looking at the chair Bree had set out for him, Hayden said self-reproachfully, "My apologies, Female Master. I took an emergency call just as I was heading out today and forgot to bring the spatial ring containing the picnic supplies."

"It’s all my careless fault. The Female Master even brought out a chair for me—how could I possibly sit down? Please punish me, Female Master."

Bree offered him a soft smile and spoke gently, "I’m not blaming you. It’s perfectly fine."

"No," Hayden shook his head resolutely. "I made a mistake, so I must receive punishment."

Bree gave a helpless sigh. "Then as punishment, you can stand, too."

"Thank you, Female Master." Hayden stepped back, taking his place beside Bree.

Yilan cast a glance at Hayden, who hadn’t been disciplined despite messing up, and remarked to Bree, "Bree, you really are so gentle with your companions."

Forgetting the spatial ring packed with supplies for the Female Master—that was a clear sign he didn’t hold his Female Master in high regard. If it were up to her, she would have whipped him long ago. She hadn’t expected Bree not to blame Hayden at all.

Bree smiled and said, "Hayden didn’t do it on purpose, and I brought chairs of my own anyway. It’s just a small matter, no need to make things difficult for him."

Having said that, Bree turned her gaze toward Rory. "Speaking of being gentle with companions, I think Rory is the one who’s truly gentle with hers."

Holding Wen’s hand, Rory heard Bree’s comment and acknowledged it generously, "My companions are all wonderful males—naturally, I should be gentle with them."

While Rory engaged in hypocritical pleasantries with Bree and Yilan, Xarion seized an opportunity while setting up the equipment a short distance away to forcefully shoulder-charge Sylas.

Bang!

Losing his balance, Sylas stumbled a step backward.

"Xarion, what do you think you’re doing?!" Sylas glared at Xarion in anger.

Xarion gave Sylas a dead-eyed, lifeless look. "Are those two holes on your nose just there to blow hot air? Didn’t you see me walking over? You were blocking my path."

"Since you’re blind, I kindly gave you a free adjustment. It’s already generous of me not to charge you—what right do you have to glare at me?"

Standing beside Vangar, Nix looked at Xarion with envy. "If I had a tongue like Xarion’s, I’d never suffer a loss anywhere."

Vangar cast a glance at him, offering a quiet reminder.

"If I were you, I’d suggest not trying to copy Xarion," Vangar cautioned, casting a side-eye at Nix. "With your rank-eight strength, acting that arrogant will only get you beaten to death."

Nix: "..."

Hmph, Vangar is so annoying. Always spouting blunt truths that nobody wants to hear.

Pursing his lips, Nix turned his attention back to the standoff between Xarion and Sylas.

Sylas’s face had turned completely dark from Xarion’s tirade. We agreed to put on a show—why is this guy throwing such foul insults?

He raised a finger, pointing straight at Xarion. "What’s that supposed to mean?! You looking for a fight?!"

Xarion let out a cold sneer. "Acting like you’re hot stuff. I’m down to fight—do you even dare to hit back?"

"You’re rank eleven, and I’m rank eleven too now! Why wouldn’t I dare?!" Sylas snapped back, pointing furiously at Xarion.

Looking at the pointing finger, Xarion couldn’t help but roll his eyes internally. I really want to chop this guy’s hand off.

Vangar nudged Nix, who was still absorbed in watching the drama unfold. "Stop gawking. Your turn."

"Oh, right!"

Nix almost forgot. He quickly turned on his heel and sprinted back toward Rory, shouting as he ran, "Rory! Oh no!"

Hearing Nix’s voice, Rory immediately stood up from her chair. Seeing Nix run over, she asked, "Nix, what happened?"

Nix’s face was filled with anxiety. "Rory, you have to come quick! Xarion and Sylas are about to go at it!"

"What?!" Rory’s eyes widened in shock. "Where are they? Take me there right now!"

Before rushing off, Rory didn’t forget to turn and call for Bree. "Bree, Sylas is your companion—hurry over with me!"

Bree had already risen from her chair. She nodded at once and stepped briskly toward the lawn.

What on earth is wrong with Sylas? Didn’t I tell him to stall Rory while they were eating? The picnic hasn’t even started, so why is he picking a fight with her companion already?

By the time Bree followed Rory over, Xarion was still bickering with Sylas.

"Stupid bird, what’s the fun in just throwing punches? Do you dare make a bet with me? If I win, you belong to my Female Master. If I lose, Vincent belongs to yours!"

Vincent, standing in the back: "..."

When we get home, I am definitely beating Xarion to a pulp.

Sylas cast a glance at Vincent and sneered disdainfully, "Just a single Vincent, and you expect me to bet against you? Is the young master of the Snow Wolf clan really this spineless?"

Xarion narrowed his eyes, staring at Sylas. "Then you tell me—how do you want to bet?"

Sylas declared, "If we’re betting, we go big! If I win, all of Rory’s companions belong to my Female Master. If you win, all of us belong to yours!"

Xarion desperately wanted to tell him off for insulting his Female Master. As if these crooked, unseemly companions of Bree’s are even worthy of being put up as stakes!

Upon hearing Sylas’s proposal, Yilan immediately chimed in, "I think this bet is great!"

If Sylas could beat Xarion, they wouldn’t even need to waste effort drugging Vincent and the others today. "Bree, what do you think?" Yilan turned to Bree.

Bree offered a somewhat forced smile. "I don’t mind it, but... I wonder if Rory agrees?"

If it were a fight between Sylas and Xarion, she certainly had the means to ensure Sylas’s victory. The only question was whether Rory would go along with it.

In an instant, everyone’s eyes fell upon Rory.

Rory let out a soft laugh and put on a conflicted expression. "I don’t have an issue with it either. It’s just that Xarion and Sylas are both rank-eleven powerhouses. If they clash here in the Central District, they’ll end up blasting right through the planet."

"What’s the big deal?" Yilan blurted out. "Just let them go fight at the Divine Battlefield!"
