Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 249: Divine Item, God of Cuisine?
Chapter 249: Chapter 249: Divine Item, God of Cuisine?
Seraphina: !!
’Another Divine Favored!’
’And a Favored of the God of Slaughter, no less.’
Belle White continued her explanation.
"Maxim used a portion of the authority granted to him by the God of Slaughter—an authority that transcends the system’s rules—to twist the rules of this world."
"Any outside Player who enters this place will have their system connection and Abilities interfered with and suppressed by this Divine Power! That’s the real reason you’ve lost your Power!"
’I knew it! Just as I suspected!’
A flicker of understanding flashed in Seraphina’s eyes.
When she heard Eric’s dying cry of "A Favored of the God of Slaughter," she had already started connecting the dots.
A former Player who had pledged allegiance to a Divine being hostile to the Doomsday Game and who wielded a portion of the authority over rules would indeed be capable of this.
However, knowing all this did nothing to solve Seraphina’s current predicament.
Seraphina looked at Belle White, her eyes burning with urgency, and asked the most critical question:
"Since you can use your Player Abilities without being affected, does that mean you have some... method to counter this suppression?"
’She desperately needs to get her Power back!’
Although the [Dreadful Upright Ape] Title was powerful, it was ultimately a passive trigger that relied on her getting injured.
In a treacherous Level 5 dungeon, relying on a single Title and her physical fitness was like dancing on a knife’s edge.
Seraphina had to regain the use of her Talent and Skills as soon as possible. Otherwise, forget completing the mission—even self-preservation would be a problem.
Belle White shook her head gently.
Her tone held a hint of helplessness. "My method... you probably can’t replicate it. I’m not suppressed because I carry a gift from another Divine being."
As she spoke, she held out her palm. The air above it shimmered slightly, and a pure white feather, about a foot long and radiating a soft yet resolute light, materialized out of thin air.
The feather’s appearance seemed to dispel some of the gloom in the room, bringing with it an indescribable sense of tranquility and transcendence.
"This is a feather that contains a trace of the Goddess of Liberty’s Divine Power."
Belle White’s voice was filled with reverence.
"It was originally a token and a bridge, meant to guide and acknowledge me, helping me become the Goddess of Liberty’s Favored. It’s only by relying on the Rule Power of ’freedom’ it contains—the direct opposite of ’slaughter’—that I’m able to barely maintain the integrity of my own Power in this world shrouded by the God of Slaughter’s Divine Power, free from Maxim’s suppression."
"Goddess of Liberty?" Seraphina felt a bit overwhelmed by the flood of information, her head spinning.
The dungeons she had experienced before, whether it was The Insect Frenzy or the Petrification Apocalypse, were all centered on hoarding supplies, dealing with monsters, and struggling to survive in extreme environments.
At most, they involved some special rules and items.
But ever since meeting Yana Yates, it had been one thing after another: "Pollution God’s Favored," "God of Slaughter’s Favored," and now a "Goddess of Liberty" had appeared.
These beings, existing on a Divine level far beyond Seraphina’s current understanding, were being thrown at her one after another.
It made Seraphina feel like a total noob who had stumbled into a high-rank match.
Belle White seemed to notice her confusion and explained, "This might still be too far off for you. But once a Player’s Level reaches Level 5, the dungeons you encounter will often have backgrounds and power levels that are no longer limited to simple natural disasters and monsters. Rules, authority, and even traces of the Divine... will gradually start to appear."
Seraphina could only respond to this with a helpless, bitter smile.
"I haven’t even reached the threshold of Level 3 yet. What you’re talking about really is too far off for me."
Right now, Seraphina just wanted to solve the immediate problem of survival.
But Belle White hit the nail on the head. "And yet, here you are, inside a Level 5 dungeon."
Reality was just that cruel.
Seraphina shook her head, temporarily pushing aside those thoughts about future power tiers and returning to the most practical issue.
"So, at the end of the day, you’re immune to Maxim’s rule suppression because you possess an item that contains the power of another Divine being?"
Belle White nodded affirmatively. "That’s right. Only power of the same tier can fight power of the same tier. This is a clash on the level of rules."
Seraphina fell into a brief silence, her mind racing.
Belle White’s words were like a key, unlocking a shackle on her thoughts.
’Only power of the same tier can fight power of the same tier...’
’An item from a Divine being... containing Divine Power...’
Suddenly, a stunning light burst forth from her eyes!
The information of a forgotten item, one she had once considered completely useless, flashed through Seraphina’s mind like a bolt of lightning!
Seraphina’s head shot up. She stared at Belle White with a burning gaze, her voice laced with a mixture of incredulous excitement and a need for confirmation:
"Wait! Are you saying... as long as you have something that contains ’Divine’ power, even just a trace, it might be possible to resist the suppression here?"
’It seems I, just maybe, perhaps... have such an item?!’
’An item whose true value I’d never realized before!’
Belle White was confused by Seraphina’s sudden excitement.
Then she heard Seraphina ask uncertainly:
"So... the God of Cuisine, does he count as a Divine being?"
Belle White: ???
Belle White was taken aback by Seraphina’s out-of-the-blue question, completely failing to understand why she had suddenly brought it up.
Confusion was written all over Belle White’s face; she couldn’t keep up with Seraphina’s leaps in logic.
’God of Cuisine?’
’I seem to vaguely recall hearing that name in some ancient records or rumors. Isn’t he some obscure and... not very combat-oriented Divine being?’
’But what does that have to do with the current situation?’
Seraphina, however, had no time to explain. Her heart was pounding wildly because of a sudden idea!
’The [Food God’s Gourmet Atlas]! I always thought of it as a lifestyle supplement, even something a bit useless. Because my Talent, Skills, and Storage Space were all suppressed, I subconsciously assumed that all my system-related Abilities had been nullified. So I completely forgot about this special atlas that’s bound to my soul.’
’It isn’t an ordinary Skill or item, but something directly related to a being known as the "God of Cuisine"!’
Belle White’s words had just given Seraphina a wake-up call.
’ "Only power of the same tier can fight power of the same tier," ’ and ’ "an item that contains Divine Power" ’!
’If the "God of Cuisine" is truly a Divine being, then does the atlas bound to me also contain a trace of Divine Power?’
’Could it, like Belle White’s Freedom Goddess Feather, counteract Maxim’s rule suppression?’
’Is the [Food God’s Gourmet Atlas] a Divine item?’
There was only one way to find out—test it.
No longer hesitating, she used her will to summon the long-dormant [Food God’s Gourmet Atlas].
In the next second,
A thick, ancient book with a cover that glowed with a warm luster appeared without warning, hovering right in front of Seraphina!
