Infinite Disasters: I Hoarded My Way to Godhood
Chapter 248: Evil Dragon, Questions and Answers
Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Evil Dragon, Questions and Answers
Seeing Belle White walk off in a specific direction without the slightest hesitation, Seraphina Sullivan immediately gave Sean Chandler a look.
Without a moment’s hesitation, the two quickened their pace and followed.
Seraphina could clearly sense Belle White’s familiarity with this world, the Death Arena.
And, right at this moment, her hatred for Maxim.
The look in someone’s eyes never lies.
Seraphina was thinking.
’How are we supposed to survive for a month in this bizarre, Level 5 Rule Dungeon and complete the system’s deceptively simple ’survival’ mission?’
It seemed like an incredibly difficult task.
After all, they were completely in the dark.
They didn’t understand a thing, and their own Abilities were completely restricted.
The Player before them, Belle White, was perhaps the crucial first step to cutting through the fog and finding a path to survival.
"You’re very familiar with this dungeon!"
After they had left the confines of The Coliseum’s arena,
Seraphina skipped the pleasantries and cut straight to the chase, her tone a statement, not a question.
Belle White didn’t break her stride. Without looking back, she said in a low voice, "This isn’t the place to discuss these things. Follow me."
Seraphina took the hint and asked no more questions. She and Sean Chandler fell into silent step behind Belle White.
The three of them passed through several narrow, filthy alleys filled with a sense of being watched.
Finally, they entered an abandoned house hidden deep within a dilapidated building.
Belle White expertly activated several concealed soundproofing and warning devices.
Only then did Belle White finally relax a little.
She straightened her white hair and brushed the blood and dust from her clothes.
Turning around, she looked at Seraphina and Sean Chandler, her eyes holding a hint of probing and confusion:
"When you entered this dungeon, didn’t the system notify you what kind of dungeon it was?"
A helpless expression crossed Seraphina’s face.
She wasn’t worried that Belle White meant them harm.
’If she had malicious intent, she’d had plenty of opportunities to strike during the chaos in The Coliseum.’
’Besides, from what I overheard between Yana Yates and her, this woman’s power isn’t restricted by the rules.’
’It would be simple for a Level 5 Player to eliminate the two of us.’
Seraphina said, "We were forced into this dungeon. A Player named Yana Yates used a Connection Card to drag us in here. We didn’t have a choice."
When Belle White learned that Seraphina and Sean Chandler were both only Level 2 Players, her calm composure finally shattered.
A look of utter shock appeared on her face:
"Level 2?! You... you’ve got to be kidding me."
This news was even more shocking to her than Yana Yates being killed.
For Level 2 Players to be dragged into a Level 5 Rule Dungeon and survive this long...
And not only that, but to even kill Yana Yates, who was known as a particularly troublesome character in their circles.
Their luck and resourcefulness were nothing short of heaven-defying.
At this thought, Belle White couldn’t help but take another, longer look at Seraphina and Sean Chandler.
An idea sparked in her mind, forming rapidly.
Seraphina sighed and threw up her hands.
Her voice was laced with lingering fear.
"Did you think we wanted to come here? A Level 5 dungeon is way too dangerous! In Level 2 dungeons, I couldn’t exactly do whatever I wanted, but at least I could guarantee my own survival. But look at this place..."
Seraphina pointed at herself, then gestured toward the outside.
"The moment we entered this Death Arena, the system was suppressed. My Talent, my Skills—all useless! A Player? What’s the difference between me now and an ordinary person who’s just a bit nimble on their feet?"
Belle White watched Seraphina’s heartfelt complaint, fell silent for a moment, and finally let out a soft sigh of her own.
"You two... you really have it rough. Still, for Yana Yates to end up dead at your hands... that’s really something. In our circles, he was a well-known and particularly nasty piece of work."
"So,"
Seraphina said, seizing the opportunity to press on.
"This Death Arena, and that Maxim... is he a Player, too? What’s really going on? You seem... very familiar with this world."
Belle White didn’t answer directly. Her gaze grew heavy, as if she was lost in some kind of memory.
She walked to the window, gazed out at the gray sky, and began to speak slowly.
"Let me tell you a story..."
"Once upon a time, there was a world, peaceful and serene. Then, nations began to war endlessly over their own interests, and eventually... a nuclear war erupted. The world was reduced to radioactive ruins, civilization teetered on the brink of collapse, and the end times had truly come."
"But miraculously, at the moment of greatest despair, the mysterious Doomsday Game arrived."
"A lucky few became Players. They entered all sorts of bizarre apocalyptic dungeons, struggling to survive and gaining Power, items, and knowledge in the process."
"Some powerful Players stepped forward. Using the Power and technology they gained from the dungeons, they began trying to save this ravaged real world. They cleared radiation, rebuilt their homes, and restored order... It seemed as if hope was rekindled."
"And yet..."
Belle White’s voice turned sharp and cold, laced with biting sarcasm and sorrow.
"The nightmare began. After one Player gained Power that far surpassed any other, his mindset shifted."
"He was no longer content with being a savior; he craved dominion. They wanted to build their own kingdom and place all the world’s survivors under their tyrannical rule... The ones who were once saviors became new, more terrifying oppressors."
Seraphina listened quietly, having already reached a clear conclusion in her mind.
’The one who slays the dragon eventually becomes the Evil Dragon.’
"So, the one who turned the world into... this... is Maxim?"
Seraphina’s voice was exceptionally clear in the silent room.
Belle White didn’t answer, but her tightly pursed lips and the complex emotions churning in her eyes—
pain, hatred, and a hint of helplessness—were more persuasive than any words.
Her silence was all the confirmation Seraphina needed to be certain of her guess.
"But..."
Sean Chandler’s steady voice cut in, raising the key questions, "how do you know all these secrets? And Yana Yates mentioned that your Player Power doesn’t seem to be suppressed by the system. Why is that?"
This was something that puzzled Seraphina as well.
Seraphina immediately followed up, trying to piece together the whole truth. "Maxim was once a Player, too. The system suppression in this world... that’s his handiwork, isn’t it?"
Faced with the barrage of questions, Belle White took a deep breath, as if steeling herself to make a decision.
She looked at Seraphina and Sean Chandler.
"I know these things because I am one of this world’s Native People."
The answer left both Seraphina and Sean Chandler momentarily stunned.
’A Native Player?’
That explained how she knew the world’s history, but it also raised new questions.
Belle White didn’t pause, continuing on to answer Seraphina’s question and confirming her worst fears:
"That’s right. After this world became the Death Arena dungeon, the authority of the Doomsday Game system was severely suppressed. The root of it all is Maxim. He betrayed the system and pledged himself to the ’God of Slaughter,’ a being that symbolizes endless carnage and chaos. This Divine entity is hostile toward the Doomsday Game’s system, and Maxim has become Its Beloved!"
