Chapter 247: Chapter 247: The Kill, the Slaughter Game Ends

Grandpa Eric had given his life to hide her identity. She absolutely could not be discovered by Maxim.

And this incessantly chattering Yana Yates, who had recognized her as a Player, was the greatest threat. ’He has to die.’

But while Yana Yates was suppressed by the rules, his sole remaining Talent, [Space Exchange], was a god-tier survival skill.

He continuously swapped places with the other Tributes embroiled in the chaotic battle, causing Belle White’s attacks to miss their mark again and again.

It also put everyone nearby in constant distress, terrified they might inadvertently take a fatal blow meant for him.

"Belle White! I apologize for trying to Control you in the past!"

Yana Yates tried to soften her up, shouting after swapping places again.

"This isn’t the time to worry about that! This Death Arena is terrifying; we have to work together!"

Belle White gritted her teeth, the killing intent in her eyes flaring. "In your dreams! You must die."

Just as Yana Yates activated [Space Exchange] again,

swapping places with a minotaur that was parrying a blow nearby, the very instant he regained his footing...

An intense sense of danger, sharp as an ice pick, shot through his spine!

He wanted to activate [Space Exchange] again to evade the attack that had locked onto him, but the powerful Talent had one fatal flaw.

After each use, there was an Energy disruption period of about 1.5 seconds, making it impossible to use consecutively!

And that 1.5-second opening was precisely what Seraphina Sullivan and Sean Chandler, who had been watching and waiting for the perfect moment, had seized upon!

"Now!"

Sean Chandler shot forward like a cannonball, erupting with power!

A giant, spectral bear paw, radiating terrifying Power, smashed squarely into Yana Yates’s chest just as he appeared, before he could even stabilize himself!

"CRACK—!"

The sickening crunch of breaking bone rang out clearly!

Yana Yates’s chest visibly caved in. He coughed up a mouthful of blood mixed with bits of his internal organs and was sent flying backward like a broken kite.

His powerful constitution as a Level 5 Player kept him from dying instantly, but he was already severely wounded!

Sean Chandler pressed his advantage, moving in to deliver the killing blow.

But Yana Yates endured the searing pain and, the instant the Energy disruption ended, activated [Space Exchange] once more.

With a flicker, he reappeared over ten meters away in a relatively empty "safe zone."

He dropped to one knee, coughing up great mouthfuls of blood. He looked up, his expression a mixture of shock and fury, trying to see who had ambushed him.

However, what awaited him was Seraphina Sullivan’s final blow, already aimed and waiting to be unleashed!

"I couldn’t finish you in the Junkheap Ruins. Let’s see you get away this time!"

Hearing the name "Junkheap Ruins" was like a thunderclap in Yana Yates’s mind!

"It’s... it’s you!!!"

He finally realized.

This woman before him was the one who had foiled his plans in the Junkheap Ruins, the one responsible for his failure to obtain Power at the very last moment.

And now, she was the very person who had pushed him into this fatal crisis.

Endless regret and venomous hatred surged through him, but he had now lost even the Power to fight back.

He tried to activate his Space Exchange Talent again, only to find his body had become sluggish.

Sean Chandler had activated his Hunter Card, acquiring an Ability that slowed Yana Yates’s movements.

As a result, Yana Yates’s every action became unnaturally slow.

Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes were ice-cold.

She seized the opportunity.

The tenfold Power of [Dreadful Upright Ape] and the full might of [Fierce Kick] all converged at the tip of her foot.

Then, with unerring accuracy, she smashed it into Yana Yates’s slowed head!

"SPLAT—!"

Like a watermelon smashed by a sledgehammer, Yana Yates’s head instantly exploded, its red and white contents splattering in all directions.

All of his ambitions, his resentment, and his craving for Divine Power were annihilated by that single kick.

With Yana Yates’s death,

Seraphina Sullivan let out a sigh of relief.

"He’s finally dead... I wouldn’t have been able to sleep knowing he was still out there."

But now was no time to relax.

The slaughter within The Coliseum raged on, the sound of screams unending.

Sean Chandler instantly appeared at Seraphina Sullivan’s side. They stood shoulder to shoulder, but his wary gaze fell upon Belle White, who stood not far away.

From the earlier conversation between Yana Yates and Belle White, it wasn’t hard for them to guess that this white-haired woman was also a Player.

Furthermore, it was highly likely that, just like Sean Chandler, she was a special individual who wasn’t suppressed by this Rule Dungeon’s restrictions.

When Belle White saw Yana Yates die, a flicker of surprise crossed her cold eyes, but they quickly returned to their usual impassive state.

She looked toward Seraphina Sullivan and Sean Chandler, her expression complex.

"You..." She seemed to want to confirm something.

Seraphina Sullivan, however, was more direct. Time was short, leaving no room for cautious probing. She posed a single, concise word:

"Cooperate?"

Belle White was no fool. The man and woman before her had cooperated with perfect synergy to hunt down and kill Yana Yates. Their strength and cunning were clearly top-notch.

They also knew Yana Yates, making it extremely likely they were Players, too.

She subconsciously glanced up at the nightmarish figure on the high platform.

On her own, fulfilling Grandpa Eric’s dying wish to overthrow this bloody tyranny was nothing but a pipe dream.

She needed allies.

She had been tempted when Yana Yates suggested they cooperate, but she knew he was a man of low character and would never be a reliable partner.

’And these two... perhaps this is the opportunity I’ve been given since Grandpa Eric’s sacrifice.’

Her deliberation took only a moment.

"Okay!" Belle White gave a sharp nod, accepting the offer of a temporary alliance.

There were no unnecessary vows, no enthusiastic handshakes. With perfect unspoken coordination, the three of them quickly moved together, forming a solid triangular formation.

In the chaotic battle that followed, they covered one another, trusting their backs to their new allies and efficiently eliminating the surrounding threats.

The bloody slaughter raged for an untold amount of time. When the roars within The Coliseum finally faded, only ten figures remained standing, all of them bathed in blood, their killing intent yet to recede.

Seraphina Sullivan, Sean Chandler, and Belle White were among them.

The slaughter was over.

Maxim’s figure reappeared on the high platform. He spread his arms wide, as if admiring his finest masterpiece, his voice echoing across the arena, amplified by some unseen Power:

"Let us greet our ten final victors with the most thunderous of cheers!"

"They have proven their worth with blood and Power, successfully ascending from humble Tributes to become noble Free People!"

"Freehold will open its gates to welcome its ten new members!"

"The next Slaughter Game will commence in seven days! Do look forward to it!"

With his proclamation, an invisible Power enveloped Seraphina Sullivan and the other nine survivors, and their view of The Coliseum began to blur.

When Seraphina Sullivan’s vision cleared, she found herself in a rustic, plaza-like area, near what looked to be an exit.

At the same time, Seraphina Sullivan clearly felt the [Fierce Kick] Ability, granted by [The Rabbit] card, ebb away from her like a receding tide until it vanished completely.

The same happened to Sean Chandler; the Abilities he had seized with his Hunter Card all dissipated.

"What a shame!" Sean Chandler had grown rather fond of the Abilities he’d seized.

Like the slowing Ability he had used to help kill Yana Yates.

Now that the slaughter was over, a crushing wave of fatigue, like a landslide and tsunami combined, washed over her.

The immense mental and physical toll left Seraphina Sullivan barely able to stand.

But she forced herself to stay alert. Now was not the time to let her guard down.

She saw Belle White beside her, her eyes warily scanning their surroundings.

She understood that this so-called "Freehold" was likely even more dangerous than The Coliseum.
