Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Former Player, Beloved of the God of Slaughter

The old man’s words took Seraphina Sullivan completely by surprise.

’A former Player?’

’Saved the world?’

’Another apocalyptic world?’

She felt like she was grasping at something.

Behind these words seemed to lie the true origin of this Death Arena!

She desperately tried to piece together the truth from his furious tirade.

Meanwhile, on another stone pillar, Sean Chandler received a silent command from Seraphina Sullivan’s eyes.

He stopped paying attention to the sudden standoff.

Instead, using his unsuppressed Ability, his gaze shot like lightning as he quickly scanned the remaining people for any sign of Yana Yates.

On the stage, Maxim’s expression remained placid as he faced the soul-searing accusation. Instead, a pitying smile touched his lips, as if he were looking at a clueless child.

"Eric, my poor child, my dear... old friend."

His voice was laced with false sympathy.

"You once fought by my side, yet you chose to betray me. But you see how merciful I am? Even now, I’m still giving you a chance. As long as you become one of the last ten survivors, I can forgive all your past betrayals."

Hearing this, the grief and indignation on the face of the old man named Eric only deepened. He burst into wild laughter.

"HAHAHA! Forgive me? Maxim, even if you’ve become a Divine Favored of the God of Slaughter, we will never submit to your tyranny! A free soul never yields!"

Before his voice had even faded, an ancient wooden staff suddenly appeared in Eric’s withered hand.

He gathered every last bit of Power remaining in his body, and the tip of the staff erupted in a blindingly brilliant light.

A terrifying wave of destructive Energy, powerful enough to tear Space itself, roared toward Maxim on the stage.

This sudden act of defiance made every spectator’s eyes go wide.

However, faced with this desperate strike containing all the old man’s Power, Maxim didn’t even bat an eye.

"Eric, you still don’t understand."

He sighed softly.

With a casual wave of his hand, a shield formed of countless twisted, translucent light screens instantly materialized before him.

The torrent of Energy, powerful enough to move mountains, slammed into the screen of light.

The next second, like a clay ox sinking into the sea, the wave of Energy vanished without a trace, failing to create so much as a single ripple.

"Here, within my Death Arena, I write the rules. I am the master!"

Maxim’s voice was still level, but it carried a coldness that could freeze the soul.

"As a fellow Player who once helped save the world, I gave you a chance. But since you insist on being so stubborn, I have no reason to let you live."

He extended a withered finger and pointed it gently in Eric’s direction.

Before the horrified eyes of everyone watching,

the old man Eric, the one who dared to face the tyrant and voice his defiance, was seized by an invisible hand, his body instantly imploding!

"AH—!"

With a short, piercing scream, Eric’s body suddenly exploded.

With a loud BANG, he was reduced to a crimson mist, vanishing from the arena along with the stone pillar beneath his feet.

Silence!

A deathly silence!

It was immediately followed by even more frenzied and excited cheers from the audience in the stands!

But among the Tributes on the stone pillars, there was only a dead silence. Endless fear washed over them like ice-cold water, chilling them to the bone.

The Power over life and death that Maxim had just displayed completely crushed the last shred of hope in their hearts.

But Seraphina Sullivan, amidst the extreme terror, latched onto the most crucial words:

’A Divine Favored of the God of Slaughter?’

The information exploded in her mind like a thunderclap.

This being known as Maxim was not only a former Player, but was now also a Divine Favored.

But that wasn’t all that shocked Seraphina Sullivan.

It was the realization that a Player’s own world could become an apocalyptic dungeon.

’What is going on? Or is my Level just too low to be privy to this information?’

’But what is Maxim’s purpose for creating this Death Arena?’

But before Seraphina Sullivan could dwell on it, a massive free-for-all was about to begin.

"Now—the final game begins!"

Maxim’s cold voice rang out like a death knell, instantly shattering the dead silence in The Coliseum that had followed Eric’s self-destruction.

The instinct for survival overrode everything else!

Like startled, caged animals, the remaining Tributes on the stone pillars all moved at once!

They leaped down from their stone pillars.

Most lunged without hesitation toward the "soft targets"—those who looked weaker or were already injured.

They sought to eliminate some of the competition in the initial chaos.

Seraphina Sullivan ignored the few Tributes lunging at her with ill intent, using her tenfold speed to nimbly weave through and evade them.

She immediately headed toward Sean Chandler to regroup.

In an instant, the struggle turned the entire Coliseum into a bloody vortex of slaughter!

The roar of exploding Energy, the sharp clang of clashing blades, the sickening sound of claws tearing flesh, and the wails of the dying... all wove together into a symphony from hell.

Severed limbs and fresh blood flew everywhere, staining the stone floor in glaring patches of dark red.

The visual impact of such extreme violence and chaos drove the audience into a complete frenzy, their shouts and roars piercing the sky!

Seraphina Sullivan finally managed to reach Sean Chandler’s side.

"Did you find Yana Yates?" she asked urgently.

She then stood back-to-back with Sean Chandler, fending off attacks from all sides.

Sean Chandler pointed in one direction. "Over there!"

Seraphina Sullivan followed his gaze.

In a corner of the chaotic melee, she saw a familiar figure locked in a fierce battle with a white-haired woman.

The man was none other than Yana Yates.

Yana Yates looked to be in a sorry state.

He was dodging the white-haired woman’s swift and fierce attacks while growling in a mix of shock and fury.

"Belle White! I can’t believe I ran into you here! You... how come your Abilities haven’t been suppressed by the rules? How is it possible you can use all of them?!"

’He was horrified. If his strength hadn’t been Sealed, he was confident he could have dealt with this difficult woman quickly.’

But right now, the strength she was displaying as a Player seemed completely unaffected by this Rule Dungeon!

"Say something, damn it!"

Yana Yates tried to reason with her, his tone carrying a note of desperation he himself didn’t even notice.

"This dungeon is too strange! I just heard that old man Eric say that Maxim is a Player and also a Divine Favored! There has to be a secret to this world. Belle White, we can put aside our hatred and cooperate for now. Let’s just focus on surviving first!"

However, the woman named Belle White turned a deaf ear to Yana Yates’s words, her attacks only growing more vicious.

When she heard Yana Yates mention Grandpa Eric, the pain in her eyes intensified.

Belle White was currently consumed by immense grief and rage.

Grandpa Eric had given his life to conceal her identity; she absolutely could not let Maxim discover her.
