Immortal Ascension Through Marriage: Investing in My Wife Get Returns
Chapter 395 - 394: The Armored Demon King Falls
The sky above the Grand Court had become a canvas of rot and fire, its once-blue expanse swallowed by bruised-purple miasma and enormous spatial distortions. Yet amidst the encroaching darkness, a single point of searing light continued to hold its ground, illuminating the ruined battlefield with the radiance of a miniature sun.
Bai Qingyue stood poised upon the broad back of the Golden Immortal Beast, the Sun Shooting Bow held firmly in her hands. Her black hair fluttered behind her in the turbulent winds, and her pale blue gown rippled as waves of demonic energy swept across the sky. Despite the chaos surrounding her, her breathing remained steady, while the ancient runes of the bow glowed with a restrained solar radiance.
Within her consciousness, the Weapon Spirit’s voice rang clearly, its usual playful excitement tempered by the precision of a seasoned battlefield commander. Through their connection, the spirit continuously analyzed the surrounding enemies, calculating their movements and identifying the most favorable opportunities for attack.
Target acquired, Master. Void Refinement, heavily armored variant. Approach vector: three o’clock, low altitude. The target is attempting to conceal its movement behind the collapsing architectural structures.
Bai Qingyue’s eyes shifted toward the indicated direction.
A massive black-armored Demon King was charging toward them, its enormous body covered in overlapping plates of dark metal. Two thick horns curved backward from its skull, and its blood-red eyes burned with savage determination. Every movement caused the armor covering its body to grind against itself, releasing sparks of demonic energy that twisted the surrounding air.
Unlike the previous demons that had charged toward her recklessly, this Demon King displayed considerable battlefield awareness. Rather than flying directly toward the Golden Immortal Beast, it zigzagged through the ruins of a nearby floating pagoda, using the broken pillars and shattered platforms to obstruct her line of sight.
Its cultivation had reached the peak of the Demon King Realm, and its physical body had been refined through countless battles. The dense demonic energy surrounding it formed a localized gravity field, pulling loose stones and broken fragments toward its position as it advanced.
The resulting pressure spread across the sky, threatening to destabilize the Golden Immortal Beast’s flight.
"He intends to approach from my blind spot," Bai Qingyue murmured, studying the demon’s movements without displaying the slightest trace of anxiety.
The Weapon Spirit immediately responded.
Correct, Master. The target has also condensed its demonic energy around its shoulders and forearms. It is preparing to use its physical strength to break through our defenses once it enters close combat.
Bai Qingyue did not attempt to follow the Demon King’s erratic trajectory.
Instead, she focused on the space where its next movement would most likely take it. Her Yunqi Realm fortune spread outward, subtly influencing the surrounding probabilities while the Sun Shooting Bow gathered solar energy between its ancient limbs.
She did not need to force the battlefield to obey her.
She merely needed to recognize the moment when fortune could turn an enemy’s decision into a fatal mistake.
Bai Qingyue shifted her aim slightly to the left, directing the bow toward a seemingly empty section of the sky. She drew the plasma string backward until it reached its maximum tension, allowing the Weapon Spirit to stabilize the concentrated solar energy forming between her fingers.
The arrow burned with incandescent white light.
Then she released it.
THWIP!
The solar projectile crossed the battlefield, leaving behind a narrow trail of white fire. Its speed was astonishing, but the Demon King did not immediately notice the danger because the arrow was traveling toward a position it had not yet occupied.
The armored demon emerged from behind the final crumbling pillar.
Its body flickered as it activated a spatial movement technique, intending to close the remaining distance before Bai Qingyue could prepare another attack. A moment later, it reappeared several dozen feet from the Golden Immortal Beast, its enormous claws already extending toward its target.
Unfortunately for the demon, the point at which it emerged was precisely where the solar arrow was passing.
Its eyes widened.
There was no time to dodge.
The projectile struck the microscopic seam between two overlapping plates of black armor, slipping through the narrow opening before the demon could reinforce its defenses with demonic energy.
A blinding flash erupted from within its chest.
"ARGH!"
The Demon King released a roar of agony as the solar plasma detonated inside its body. The explosion was concentrated rather than expansive, directing almost all its destructive force toward the demon’s internal organs and the energy pathways that sustained its cultivation.
Its armor remained largely intact, but that offered little protection against an attack that had already bypassed its external defenses.
The demon’s massive body convulsed violently.
Its claws opened and closed uncontrollably as the solar energy burned through its internal organs, destroying the structures that allowed it to circulate demonic power. A stream of black blood escaped its mouth, immediately turning into foul-smelling vapor beneath the lingering heat.
For several moments, the Demon King remained suspended in the air, its limbs trembling as it desperately attempted to stabilize its cultivation.
Then its strength failed.
The enormous body plunged toward the ruined Grand Court, trailing black smoke and fragments of molten armor. It struck the remnants of a floating platform before crashing into the courtyard below, where its final movements gradually ceased.
Bai Qingyue lowered the bow slightly.
"One," she counted softly.
Her breathing had barely changed, even though she had just killed a peak Demon King opponent with a single arrow. The Sun Shooting Bow’s runes continued glowing steadily, and the Weapon Spirit had already begun preparing the next attack.
Excellent shot, Master. You exploited the armor’s structural weakness and allowed the target’s own movement technique to complete the attack’s trajectory. The result was considerably more efficient than a direct confrontation.
Bai Qingyue’s lips curved into a faint smile.
You make it sound as though the demon defeated itself.
In a sense, it did. I merely assisted the process.
The Weapon Spirit sounded so pleased with itself that Bai Qingyue nearly laughed.
However, the brief moment of amusement ended when several powerful auras surged from different directions. Her expression sharpened as she sensed the incoming enemies, while the Sun Shooting Bow’s runes brightened in response to the sudden increase in danger.
