Chapter 391 - 390: Ten Arrows, One Demon King (2)

  • Next Chapter

The Demon King’s flesh glowed with a violent orange light, and the surrounding air twisted beneath the heat radiating from its wounds. It tried to channel its demonic energy to suppress the flames, but the solar power continued consuming the energy it released.

The demon finally understood that it had encountered something far more dangerous than an ordinary divine weapon.

Unfortunately, the realization had come too late.

Bai Qingyue drew the string for the tenth time.

The solar plasma condensed into an arrow brighter than all the previous projectiles. Its light illuminated the ruined Grand Court, casting long shadows across the broken pagodas and shattered courtyards below.

She aimed directly at the center of the Demon King’s chest.

"Ten strikes," she whispered.

Then she released the string.

The tenth arrow crossed the sky.

For a fraction of a second, everything seemed to grow quiet.

The projectile struck the Demon King, and the accumulated solar resonance reached its critical point.

KA-BOOOOOOOOOOM!

A blinding explosion engulfed the demon.

The accumulated solar energy erupted from within its body, overwhelming its remaining defenses and reducing its enormous form to a cloud of superheated ash. The shockwave spread outward, sweeping through the surrounding demonic miasma and clearing a vast section of the sky.

The darkness above the Grand Court briefly gave way to brilliant sunlight.

Warm rays descended upon the ruined courtyard, illuminating the faces of the surviving orthodox cultivators.

For several breaths, no one spoke.

The battlefield had not become peaceful, and the demons had not suddenly vanished. Yet the death of a Void Refinement Demon King in such a short period had created a moment of disbelief that spread through both armies.

The orthodox cultivators stared upward.

Many had spent the past several hours fighting desperately against enemies whose cultivation far surpassed their own. They had watched their companions fall, their formations collapse, and their leaders struggle against overwhelming odds.

Now they had witnessed a Core Formation cultivator destroy a Void Refinement Demon King with ten arrows.

Some wondered whether they were witnessing an illusion.

Others stared at Bai Qingyue with the reverence usually reserved for legendary experts.

On the Golden Immortal Beast’s back, Bai Qingyue lowered the Sun Shooting Bow and examined its glowing runes. The weapon had performed precisely as the spirit promised, and the accumulated solar resonance had proven devastating against an enemy whose cultivation should have given it a considerable advantage.

Inside her consciousness, the Weapon Spirit was practically dancing.

Did you see that, Master? Did you see how beautifully the solar resonance accumulated? Ten arrows, and that arrogant demon became ash!

Bai Qingyue smiled.

I saw it.

Then let us do it again! There are so many more targets down there!

The spirit’s enthusiasm was infectious, but Bai Qingyue’s attention had already shifted toward the remaining demons.

Their enemies were not going to retreat simply because one of their leaders had fallen.

In fact, the effect of her demonstration had been the opposite.

The surrounding demons had witnessed the destruction of the winged Demon King, and the sight had enraged them. The Ten Thousand Devil Kill Order remained in effect, and the bounty on Lin Yuan and Bai Qingyue’s heads was too valuable for the demons to abandon.

A furious roar erupted from the battlefield.

"THAT BOW!"

A massive arachnid Demon King climbed the side of a collapsing pagoda, its many legs digging into the ancient stone. Its body was covered in dark armor, while corrosive webbing gathered between its fangs.

"She possesses a powerful artifact! Surround her before she can fire again!"

Another Demon King answered with a roar of its own.

The creature resembled a towering brute formed from molten rock and black shadow. Flames burned within the cracks across its body, and every step it took shattered the ground beneath its feet.

"She cannot kill all of us! Attack together!"

Dozens of Demon Generals immediately abandoned their previous targets and surged toward the Golden Immortal Beast. Three additional Void Refinement Demon Kings joined the assault, each unleashing a different ability as they converged upon the group.

The arachnid gathered a mass of corrosive webbing capable of tearing through spatial barriers. The molten brute drew upon the fire within its body, condensing its power into an enormous fist.

Other demons prepared poison, soul attacks, and techniques designed to interfere with the circulation of spiritual Qi.

Their objective was obvious.

They intended to overwhelm Bai Qingyue before she could use the Sun Shooting Bow to destroy them individually.

Ku Ming stepped forward, preparing to summon the Indestructible Karmic Wheel. Golden Buddhist light gathered around his body, and the prayer beads in his hand began to shine as he prepared to shield their mount from the incoming attacks.

Lin Yuan’s Dao Fruit pulsed.

Golden-purple thunder emerged around his fingers, while silver-blue rain gathered in the surrounding air. He could already perceive the weaknesses in several approaching techniques and was prepared to intervene if the demons managed to break through Bai Qingyue’s defenses.

However, Bai Qingyue spoke before either of them could act.

"Husband. Master Ku."

Her voice was calm, and her expression showed no trace of fear.

"Guard the beast’s flanks. The sky is mine."

Lin Yuan looked at her for a moment before a faint smile appeared on his face.

"As my wife commands."

He stepped back and folded his arms, allowing her to take the lead.

Ku Ming glanced at Lin Yuan, then at Bai Qingyue, and finally nodded. He understood that the Sun Shooting Bow had changed the situation considerably, and the Saintess was clearly confident in her ability to use it.

He focused his attention on the Golden Immortal Beast, preparing to protect their mount from any attacks that slipped past Bai Qingyue.

The Saintess stepped toward the edge of the beast’s broad back.

Her pale blue gown fluttered in the turbulent winds, while the Sun Shooting Bow rested firmly in her hands. Behind her, the Weapon Spirit’s consciousness flowed through the ancient runes, preparing the artifact for another series of attacks.

Bai Qingyue inhaled slowly.

Her Yunqi Realm fortune spread outward, forming an invisible domain around her. Within that domain, probability began to shift in subtle ways, influencing the paths of incoming attacks and the decisions of the demons attempting to strike her.

It was not an absolute power that could make every enemy fall without effort.

However, when combined with the Sun Shooting Bow’s destructive potential, even a small alteration in probability could create a decisive advantage.

The arachnid Demon King attacked first.
