Chapter 678: Chapter 678: My Ethan Is No Pushover Either

Corinne Linden’s face immediately darkened. As she gathered her things, she said to her companion, "Sunny, don’t you think the air in here suddenly stinks?"

Her companion nodded, getting the hint. "It’s more than just stinky. I feel like I can barely breathe. Let’s go!"

"Let’s go." Corinne Linden stood up abruptly, grabbed her bag, and walked away.

Just as she was about to reach the door, Claire Sinclair called out loudly, "Ivy Tanner is my friend. I’d like to see anyone try to hurt her."

Corinne Linden froze, then whipped around to give her a vicious glare.

Claire Sinclair slowly rose to her feet and met her gaze directly, the corners of her lips curling into a slight smile. There was no sign of retreat in her eyes.

Corinne Linden suddenly laughed out loud. "Claire Sinclair, don’t think you can walk all over me just because you have Quincy Manor backing you up. My Ethan is not to be trifled with either."

"Well, as it happens, Ethan Kingsley is my friend too," Claire Sinclair shot back.

"You!" Corinne Linden was furious, a fire of jealousy igniting in her heart. "Claire Sinclair, what do you mean by that?"

Claire Sinclair said coldly, "Ivy Tanner is a married woman now. From now on, she has nothing to do with Ethan Kingsley. Watch yourself, and don’t even think about hurting her again. Consider this a warning."

Corinne Linden just stared at her, not saying a word.

Just then, a familiar figure appeared behind Corinne Linden, followed by Seth Payne.

Claire Sinclair furrowed her brow slightly. ’What a coincidence.’

Ethan Kingsley spotted Claire Sinclair in the crowd at once and strode over. "Star Reporter Sinclair, out shopping this late?"

Claire Sinclair smiled, her gaze falling on Corinne Linden, whom he had completely ignored. "Mr. Kingsley, good evening."

Corinne Linden bit her lip, rushed forward, and hugged Ethan Kingsley from behind.

Ethan Kingsley stiffened. Seeing the ring on her hand, he recognized her and said in a low voice, "Let go."

Corinne Linden hesitated for a moment, but instead of letting go, she hugged him even tighter.

Without another word, Ethan Kingsley pried her hands off him and walked over to Claire Sinclair. A polite smile touched his lips. "Haven’t seen you in a month. I didn’t realize you were away on a secret mission. Little Cutie has been looking for you."

Claire Sinclair replied politely, "I’ve already called her."

The smile on Ethan Kingsley’s face faded slightly. His tone hardened as he asked, "I hear you’re the one who introduced Little Cutie to Lucas Rhodes?"

Claire Sinclair admitted it freely. "That’s right, it was my idea. I think Lucas Rhodes is a good man. He has more money than he could ever spend, and he’s very considerate toward the Third Miss. A man like that is hard to find."

Ethan Kingsley’s brow furrowed slightly. "To be honest, I’m not at all happy about what you’ve done."

Claire Sinclair just smiled. "And I’m not happy about what you did to her."

"What did you say?" Ethan Kingsley seemed to sense what she was implying.

Claire Sinclair had no intention of spelling things out in front of Corinne Linden, so she spoke indirectly. "Mr. Kingsley, Ivy Tanner has a new family now. Please, leave her alone. And tell your woman to rein it in a bit. Don’t come starting trouble at her doorstep. The only way things will be peaceful is if you all stay in your own lanes."

Ethan Kingsley’s hands clenched into fists. He said in a low voice, "If you sent her to a place like that with ill intentions, I will never let you get away with it."

Claire Sinclair found this laughable. "Mr. Kingsley, you know full well who has ill intentions toward her. I don’t need to say any more. I have other things to attend to, so I’ll be going. Goodbye."

With that, Claire Sinclair picked up her bag and left.

Ethan Kingsley suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm. His face was devoid of expression as he asked, "What exactly are you plotting?"
