Adrian Quincy went to the door, glanced through the peephole, and saw a young man in a mask. He opened the door.

Theo Rhodes came in from outside and quickly shut the door. Only after letting out a sigh of relief did he speak. "That scared the hell out of me. A minute ago, Orion Osborne showed up at my door and told me to come find you all at number 23. I saw him kill someone with a dagger... My god, it was terrifying."

Adrian Quincy was unfazed by his statement. He turned back into the room and said with his back to Theo, "I’ll be protecting Claire. Don’t get separated from me."

"Okay, but what about Hanson?" Theo asked casually.

Claire had only just remembered him as well, and her heart was in her throat again. "Adrian, do you have a plan for Teacher Hartwell?"

Adrian said, "There are more people over in The Inferno District, and they’re all armed. It won’t be easy to deal with them. Henry Hartwell will probably have a rough time."

"Please, you have to get Teacher Hartwell out!" Claire pleaded.

Adrian walked over to her and wrapped her in his arms, whispering, "Claire, you don’t have to say ’please’ to me. As long as it’s for you, I would walk through fire and water."

Claire froze for a moment, realizing she’d said the wrong thing. A wave of guilt washed over her.

Nearby, Theo Rhodes let out a barely audible sigh. ’Can’t you two ever consider the feelings of a single guy for once?’

’What’s the point of all this PDA?’

Ten minutes remained until one o’clock.

The doorbell rang again.

Adrian Quincy went to open the door. This time, Orion Osborne entered, along with an alluring woman in a very sensual outfit.

Once inside, Orion Osborne glanced at Claire Sinclair from across the room. Seeing that she looked composed and her color was normal, he got down to business. "My people are in position. We move at one o’clock. But I’m only saving her. The others are none of my concern."

Adrian Quincy looked down at his wife’s face, then turned his gaze to Theo Rhodes.

After a moment of contemplation, he spoke. "Claire, you and Theo go with him first. I’m going to rescue Henry Hartwell."

Alarmed, Claire grabbed his hand. "You’re going by yourself?"

Adrian Quincy gently shook his head. "Aiden Howkins and his men will be here soon. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine."

The moment he finished speaking, Claire couldn’t stop herself from wrapping her arms around him. After the ordeal of this kidnapping, she was genuinely terrified and wanted to cherish every single farewell with him.

Partings are always over too soon. Adrian steeled his heart and pushed her from his embrace, then turned decisively and walked out.

Claire couldn’t help but follow him for a few steps before she stopped, watching helplessly as the door closed.

Orion Osborne walked over, snapping Claire back to reality. "It’s time. Come with me."

Claire glanced back at Theo Rhodes, then followed him out.

Theo Rhodes stayed behind her, his senses on high alert, not daring to relax for a single moment.

On their way through The Inferno District, Claire saw a large hole chiseled into the wall of a prison cell. Several guards in full uniform were sneaking in from the outside, led by Aiden Howkins!

Claire didn’t dare to speak, but she gave the group a quick, meaningful glance. Once they were all clear, Orion led her and Theo into the secret entrance.

They had only taken a few steps when a deafening alarm suddenly blared from behind.

Claire couldn’t resist looking back to see what was happening.

Orion explained as they kept moving, "That’s the intruder alarm. They’ve been discovered. We have to hurry; pursuers will be on us in no time."

’They were discovered this fast!’

Claire’s heart grew tense. All she could do was pray silently. ’I hope Aiden Howkins and his men succeed... I hope Mr. Quincy gets out safely.’
