I Just Wanted Friends, But My Summons Keep Eating the Bosses (ND)
Chapter 144: Did you hack the system?
Night shook his head. "Nothing much."
He was unwilling to elaborate. After all, though he had helped them, there was not much trust between them.
The others didn’t mind, everyone had secrets.
Teffy dismissed his hammer. "And here I thought we could finally do away with this stupid guild."
Rogan scowled. "You overgrown monkey, how dare you call my lifeblood stupid."
He started rolling up his shirt cuffs.
Jeffy also dismissed his hammer and sat on a chair nearby lazily.
The disrespect was too much, so Rogan decided to pull out the big guns. "Rik, let us teach these bastards a lesson."
The small monkey looked speechless at this. It looked toward Night for support, as if it had already lost hope with the trio.
Seeing the monkey that reminded him of Sage, Night decided help it and changed the topic. "I was looking for you guys. I was worried the teleportation might have left you stranded."
Rik looked at Night gratefuly.
Night looked around the hall, which looked like it was made for rich people. The design was sleek and made of some kind of black and white marble, and he could guess the marble used was not cheap.
To top it off, the building was huge with a lot of space outside. They must have been printing money to afford such a place.
Rogan calmed down and sat back in his chair as if all the buildup had been an illusion. "Why would a kid like you need to be worried about old folks like us?"
Teffy defended himself. "I am as young as a white jade beauty."
Jeffy rolled his eyes. "Even a watch is younger than you, and mind you, this baby is ancient."
He pulled out a classic pocket watch.
Yup, that is ancient... Night thought.
Jeffy looked at it with so much affection that Night thought for a second maybe the watch was his father not Rogan.
Night then shifted his attention and looked at Teffy closely, enough to make the guy shift in place like a nervous school girl.
Jeffy chuckled. It was his first time seeing his friend like this, and the guy didn’t even flinch when he entered Death Zone No.3 that was beside Desert City.
[Dream] warned him, her voice carrying a hint of shock. "Careful, this one is not from here."
Not here? As in our world? Night asked mentally.
"Not from our Cosmos," [Dream] replied.
Night was stunned.
[Blaze] had barely encountered a couple of things that were from outside the Cosmos, and that guy had been alive as long as the Cosmos itself.
And here he was, having his third encounter with someone like this.
[Dream] and [Zethethoth] he could understand. One was a talented goddess, in fact the most talented goddess of her era, and the other was a freak of nature.
If you didn’t count the Dead God in the Death Zone, this was the third.
[Dream], reading his thoughts, said, "Maybe it is also related to the reason you became a Player. It mentioned that your talent was higher than the limit of this Cosmos. At first I thought it was an actual Talent, but now I think it was referring to your potential."
So you mean I have the potential to reach a higher rank than Primordial God? Which is supposedly the peak of this Cosmos? Night asked.
"Yes..." [Dream] confirmed.
Hmmm...Night mused
Since they talked mentally, their conversation was over in a moment.
Night looked at Teffy deeply. "You are not from here, are you?"
The reason he was looking at him closely just now was because of the unnatural feeling the man gave him. He felt like someone that was not supposed to be here, but was here anyway.
Like a glitch in the system, one that the system couldn’t even identify.
This time he got a reaction from all of them.
Jeffy looked at the floor like it had suddenly become more attractive, and even Rogan awkwardly wiped away an illusionary sweat.
Teffy though was done playing.
Noticing that Night was not bluffing and seemed to have guessed some things, he looked at Night seriously and said, "You do not meddle in my business and I will do the same, okay?"
Night shrugged, completely unbothered.
Rogan by now had come to realize the cute boy was no longer as simple as he looked.
Jeffy asked while still looking at the floor, his thoughts unknown. "Did you come here just to check on father and me?"
"I was indeed searching for you guys," Night replied, "but the reason I came here was because I found the building interesting. Meeting you guys was just a coincidence."
"Come sit then," Rogan said, gesturing to the empty chair in front of his desk.
Night sat after thanking him.
"As you might have seen outside, our goal is to reclaim Earth from all these invaders and monsters," Rogan explained. "We will conquer the lands and the seas."
"And how will you do that?" Night asked.
Rogan smiled. "City Cores."
"Like the twelve Human Cities?" Night
Rogan "Yes. What people do not know is that there are more City Cores out there. Many beast clans and even some monsters have found them and established cities like us. If we can find similar cores, then we can expand."
Night looked at the clueless Rogan and didn’t feel like breaking his delusion. [Zethethoth] was out there, and he was probably already in control of more than half of the human cities secretly.
Since he was using Vikram’s body as a vessel, at least Bharat City was done for, and others would surely follow.
Even if they conquered new cities, all they could do was ready them and offer them up to the Void God when the time came.
Rogan smirked. "What do you think? A fine goal, is it not?"
Night nodded, then got up, preparing to leave.
Since he knew they were doing fine, there was no point spending more time here. Even though he had five clones, all their time was precious.
"Why don’t you join us?" Teffy asked suddenly.
Jeffy looked at him speechless. His expression said it all. Do you have a death wish?
But Teffy saw none of it. Previously the Guild looked hopeless, but if someone like Night joined them, it would change. If they showcased his strength, many would be willing to join them.
They could even use him as a mascot. He looked like a doll anyway. Teffy bet his pinky finger that Night would sell just fine, especially to the ladies who had a thing for cute things.
Night looked at him weirdly. Even though Teffy looked normal, Night felt the man was plotting something.
Even if Night was curious, he was on a ten year timer. He didn’t have time to chase their delicate dreams.
Seeing Night was about to reject the offer, Teffy pulled his trump card. "We have the location of a City Core, and it is near Dream City."
Jeffy closed his eyes in defeat, while Rogan looked like he had been betrayed.
This caught his attention. "How accurate is the information?" Night asked.
Sure, Night didn’t need the city for himself.
He could always get it for Sara and gift it to her when she woke up. He always felt bad because of how she got scammed out of Desert City, she had also lost so much in the process.
"Hundred percent. We confirmed it ourselves." Teffy pointed at Jeffy and then at himself.
He then added, "If you join us, I will tell you where it is."
Night had already made a decision. "Who will keep the city?"
This was the million dollar, no... million SC question.
"If you really manage to conquer it, you can keep it,"
Rogan said.
As he spoke, he kept looking at Night curiously. He wondered how strong the boy truly was.
For his son to act like that, Night had to be at least Level 80 and above. He wondered how a kid leveled so quickly. Last time they saw each other he was not even lvl.10.
"Okay, sign me up then," Night agreed.
As if on cue, Rik pulled a drawer open and removed a card. It looked like it was made of pure Mana Crystal.
It is the work of a Refiner, Night thought. I should be able to do something similar. I should spare a clone for my profession.
I should explore that path, Maybe i will find something interesting...
Rik handed him the card with a cheeky smile.
Night smiled back and took the card. He had already used his Domain to scan it, and it was nothing dangerous.
The card was black in color, with golden sword designs and a chip at the center.
"Bind it," Rogan instructed, "and you will be added to our guild by the System."
Night did it. He was curious to see what would happen.
[You have joined the Conquerors Guild]
Hmm? That is it? Not even a congratulations? How stingy.
Rogan looked at the empty space in front of him, most likely his System screen, and scratched his bald head in confusion.
He looked at Night, half puzzled and half curious. "Your name is Night, right?"
Night nodded.
Half right, he mentally corrected.
"So why can I not see your name?" Rogan asked.
"It is not showing that I joined? I received a notification saying I did," Night replied.
"No, you have indeed joined. It is just..." Rogan trailed off.
"What is it?" Night asked.
"It is not showing your name. All it shows me is [?????] question marks. As a guild leader, I have access to the surface information of the members, but when I click on your profile, all it is showing me are question marks."
Rogan leaned forward. "Even if you were a demigod, it should have still shown me something. Tell me, boy, did you hack the System?"
Night looked at their curious faces which had gained a new level of fevour.
He sighed.
He was way too young for this shit.
