I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me
Chapter 126: Tyler Wakes Up
Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Tyler Wakes Up
With both sides in agreement, the clan healer withstood the pressure and began the surgery to extract Klein’s kidney.
Ophelia had no idea how exactly the procedure was performed.
They waited outside the room for about two hours before the clan healer emerged from the stone house, carrying a red organ in his hands.
Zerev wrinkled his nose at the heavy scent of blood.
Ophelia stepped forward and asked with concern, "Healer, how is Klein?"
"The effects of the Powder for Anesthesia haven’t worn off yet. The Clan Leader is still unconscious."
"Is his life in danger?" After all, it was a kidney extraction surgery. Ophelia was still somewhat worried about the current level of medical expertise in the Beast World.
The clan healer wore a solemn expression and sighed. "I’ve never tried this secret remedy before. All I can say for now is that if the Clan Leader wakes up within seven days, his life will no longer be in danger.
"But if he doesn’t wake up, then he..." The clan healer didn’t finish his sentence, but everyone understood what he meant.
Ophelia’s heart tightened. She opened her mouth but didn’t know what to say.
"Young female, the Clan Leader has sacrificed so much for you. I hope you will personally take care of him over the next seven days.
"I’ll go brew the medical primer now. Once Tyler drinks it, his poison will be cured." With that, the clan healer left with the organ in his hands.
Ophelia nodded.
"Ophelia," Zerev said, "I’ll have Moye take care of Klein. Your body is still very weak; you need to rest."
Since reuniting with the group, Ophelia, Zerev, and Tyler had a tacit agreement not to mention the birth of the dragon cubs. And because she had just given birth, her swollen belly hadn’t gone down yet, so outwardly, it didn’t look like she had already delivered them.
Ophelia shook her head. "Klein only ended up like this because he tried to save Tyler. It’s only right that I take care of him.
"You don’t need to worry. My body can hold up."
Ophelia walked toward the stone house. Because he had left in a hurry, the clan healer hadn’t cleaned up the room, and the heavy stench of blood still lingered in the air.
She looked at Klein lying on the bed; his face was pale, and his eyes were shut tight. A strip of white animal skin, resembling a bandage, was wrapped tightly around his abdomen.
Ophelia sat down by the edge of the bed and took out an animal skin handkerchief to wipe the sweat seeping from Klein’s forehead.
Zerev stood to the side, his lips pressed tightly together and his eyes dark and unfathomable.
"Klein!" a young female cried out, running in from a distance.
"Ophelia, how is Klein?" Ali had rushed over the moment she received the news.
Looking at Ali, Ophelia’s eyes turned slightly red. "Ali, I’m sorry. This is all because of me..."
Ophelia felt a pang of guilt.
Seeing this, Ali ignored her own sorrow and gently held Ophelia’s hand.
"The males around Klein already told me that he did this willingly. I don’t blame you, Ophelia.
"It’s just that... Klein loves you so much, and I hope you can treat him well. Even if you don’t like him, please don’t hurt him, okay?" Ali’s beautiful eyes brimmed with tears.
Seeing that Ali didn’t blame her, Ophelia felt even worse.
She nodded slowly. "I know. Rest assured, I will."
Hearing Ophelia say this, Ali finally felt relieved.
"Did the clan healer say when Klein will wake up?"
"He isn’t sure, but I’ll stay here and take care of Klein. Don’t worry."
"Okay. Thank you, Ophelia."
A short while later.
Moye came over to inform Ophelia and Zerev that the clan healer had finished brewing the medical primer.
Hearing this, Ali said considerately, "Ophelia, go check on Tyler first. I’ll stay here with Klein."
Ophelia gave her a grateful look, then followed Zerev to the stone house where Tyler was resting.
Inside, the clan healer was sitting by the table, a steaming bowl of black medicinal decoction resting in front of him.
"Young female, once Tyler drinks this, it won’t be long before he wakes up."
"Okay, thank you." Ophelia picked up the bowl and walked toward the bed.
She tried to prop Tyler up with one hand but found it difficult to exert strength while holding the bowl in the other.
Just as she was about to set the bowl down on the edge of the bed, a tall figure walked over and helped Tyler up.
"I’ll help you," Zerev said, his expression grave.
Although he was reluctant, he still offered his assistance for Ophelia’s sake.
Seeing this, Ophelia felt deeply moved, her nose prickling with unshed tears. "Zerev..."
"Say no more. Hurry up and feed him the medicine so you can set your mind at ease." Seeing Ophelia’s slightly red eyes, Zerev couldn’t bear it and urged her on.
Ophelia nodded and hurriedly fed the medicinal decoction to Tyler, spoonful by spoonful. This medicine had been hard-won, and terrified of spilling even a single drop, she fed him with the utmost care.
Just as the clan healer had predicted, within ten minutes of taking the medicine, Tyler’s pale face regained its color, and his purple lips turned a healthy cherry pink.
"Prin... Princess." Tyler opened his eyes, his voice slightly hoarse.
"Tyler, I’m so glad you’re okay." Ophelia wrapped her arms around his neck and sobbed softly.
Tyler returned the embrace and murmured, "Without the Princess’s permission, I wouldn’t dare die."
Standing behind them, Zerev watched their intimacy with a bitter feeling in his heart. He slowly stood up and left the room, and the clan healer tactfully followed him out.
Ophelia held Tyler and cried for quite a while before finally telling him about Klein sacrificing a kidney to save him.
Hearing that Ophelia had agreed to become mates with Klein in order to save him, Tyler was overwhelmed with emotion.
"Princess, you didn’t have to do this for me..."
Knowing what he was going to say, Ophelia quickly placed a hand over his mouth.
"Tyler, as long as it meant saving you, I was willing to do anything.
"Besides, Klein treats me very well, and he is a Mine Master. Partnering with him is no loss for me."
Watching the Princess try so hard to comfort him, a crystal-clear tear slid down Tyler’s cheek.
"Klein hasn’t woken up yet. I need to stay by his side and take care of him. Once he recovers, we’ll return to the tribe."
Tyler gently touched Ophelia’s red eyes. "Okay."
Having just recovered, Tyler forced himself to stay awake and talk with Ophelia for a short while before falling into a deep sleep again.
Seeing that Tyler’s breathing was steady and he was out of danger, Ophelia went to the other stone house to check on Klein.
By this time, Klein had regained a sliver of consciousness. His long, slender fingers gripped the animal skin blanket beneath him tightly as he let out soft groans.
It wasn’t until Ophelia leaned in close that she realized he was crying out in pain.
Beside him, Ali was shedding tears of heartache, unable to do anything but wipe his sweat with an animal skin handkerchief.
Seeing Ophelia enter, she threw herself sorrowfully into her arms.
"Ophelia, Klein is in so much pain.
"He truly loves you. I’m begging you—when he wakes up, you have to become his mate. Please?" Ali wasn’t stupid; she knew Ophelia didn’t have romantic feelings for Klein.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have resorted to such a method and made a deal with her. Klein never made a losing deal. The fact that he was willing to lay his life on the line for Ophelia proved just how much he genuinely cared for her.
Ophelia patted Ali’s back, soothing her softly. "Don’t worry. When Klein wakes up, I will become his mate. I won’t go back on my word."
She always kept her promises. Even if things hadn’t gone the way she wanted, she would always honor an agreement she had made.
