I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me
Chapter 127: He Wants to Hold a Bonding Ceremony
Chapter 127: Chapter 127: He Wants to Hold a Bonding Ceremony
Seeing Ali crying so heartbrokenly, Ophelia gently coaxed her into leaving. A short while later, the clan doctor came in and instructed Ophelia on how to care for Klein. She nodded. Although she had never performed surgery in the modern world, she generally understood how to care for a postoperative patient.
By evening, Klein still hadn’t woken up. Taking advantage of a moment when no one was around, Ophelia secretly entered her spatial dimension to check on the little dragon cubs.
Upon entering the space, she didn’t see the cubs in the rice paddy. She headed to the warehouse, but the moment she stepped through the doors, her jaw dropped in astonishment. The once-tidy warehouse shelves had been completely ransacked. All the fruit was gone, and the floor was littered with pits. Since there was no one else in the space besides her and the three little dragon cubs, it wasn’t hard to guess who the culprits were.
"Cubs? Babies?" Ophelia began searching around. It took her a long while before she finally found the three little dragon cubs in a far corner of the warehouse. They were lying in the corner, hugging their tails and sleeping soundly.
Ophelia walked over quietly and called out, "Cubs, babies, wake up." But no matter how much she called them, the three little dragon cubs didn’t react. Now she was anxious. She hurriedly exited the space and asked the males guarding the door to fetch Zerev.
Hearing that Ophelia was looking for him, Zerev rushed over. "Ophelia, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Ophelia pulled Zerev into the room and closed the door. Leaning close to his ear, she recounted everything that had happened in the space. "The cubs are asleep, and I can’t wake them up no matter what. Will something bad happen to them?"
Zerev shook his head. "Don’t worry, this is very normal.
"Dragon cubs require a massive amount of energy right after birth, so their first meal tends to be quite large.
"After eating, they fall into a deep sleep to grow. So you have nothing to worry about."
The heavy weight in Ophelia’s chest finally lifted. "Then what do they eat?"
Zerev pondered for a moment. "A newborn dragon cub’s digestive system is already fully developed, so they don’t have a specific diet. From what I remember, they can eat anything."
"Anything?!" Ophelia was incredibly surprised. The digestive system of a Dragon Beast cub was way too overpowered! She simply couldn’t fathom how the cubs’ tiny bodies could hold so much fruit. "Everything in the space is raw except for the fruit. Eating nothing but fruit all day definitely won’t work, and with their huge appetites, the fruit supply won’t last long at this rate!"
"It won’t be like that. Dragon cubs only eat a large amount for their first meal. The rest of the time, their appetite is only half that of a normal male.
"But they definitely can’t survive on just fruit.
"How about this? I’ll make some rice and meat porridge every day, and I’ll bring it into the space for them to eat when no one is around."
After she became pregnant, Zerev, who had never cooked a day in his life, had learned how to make meals.
"Okay, got it," Ophelia agreed.
And so, Ophelia and Zerev began acting like secret agents. Every day, they had to come up with ways to distract the males guarding the door so they could secretly smuggle food into the space.
One day, just as Ophelia came out of the space, she heard a soft call from a male.
"O-Ophelia."
Ophelia was so startled by Klein’s voice that the bowl in her hands slipped and shattered on the floor. The commotion inside the room quickly attracted the attention of the guarding males outside. They pushed the door open and hurried in.
"Little female, what’s wrong? What happened?"
Ophelia pointed at Klein on the bed. "Your Clan Leader is awake. Hurry and fetch the clan doctor."
Ophelia only approached the bed after the males had left. She looked at Klein with concerned eyes. "Klein, how are you feeling?"
Klein struggled, trying to sit up, but Ophelia hurriedly stopped him. "Don’t. Your injuries haven’t healed yet. Don’t move around."
Hearing Ophelia’s concern for him, Klein felt a surge of joy in his heart. He knew his gamble had paid off! He coughed lightly and spoke with difficulty. "I-I’m fine. It just hurts a little."
"It’s normal for it to hurt. After all, you have such a massive wound."
Soon, the clan doctor and Ali rushed over. The doctor carefully examined Klein’s body.
"Congratulations, Clan Leader! You are finally out of danger. You’ve made it through the worst."
Hearing the doctor’s words, both Ophelia and Ali breathed a sigh of relief.
"That’s wonderful! Brother, you’re finally okay. You are never allowed to do something this dangerous again," Ali said tearfully, leaning over the edge of the bed.
"Stupid brother, bad brother. What would I have done if something happened to you?
"You only have Ophelia in your heart. Do you not care about your sister anymore?"
Standing off to the side, Ophelia rubbed her nose awkwardly at being called out.
Klein reached out and patted Ali’s head. "You’re all grown up, yet you’re still crying. If you cry any more, you’ll turn ugly."
Seeing her brother still cracking jokes in his condition, Ali glared at him in annoyance. Klein chuckled softly, but the movement pulled at his wounds, causing him to suck in a sharp breath.
"What’s wrong?"
"Brother, are you okay?"
Ophelia and Ali asked simultaneously, immediately turning their gazes to the clan doctor.
The doctor unwrapped the bandages on Klein’s body to check the state of his wounds. "The Clan Leader’s wounds haven’t healed yet. He shouldn’t make any large movements, or he’ll aggravate his injuries."
"You are not allowed out of bed until your wounds are fully healed, Brother," Ali scolded.
"Alright, alright, I know." Seeing that his sister was on the verge of tears again, Klein had no choice but to raise his hands in surrender. "Doctor, Ali, could you step out for a moment? I have something to say to Ophelia."
After the two left, Klein beckoned to Ophelia. "Come sit next to me."
Ophelia bit her lip. After a moment of thought, she walked slowly to the edge of the bed and sat down.
Klein gently reached out and held Ophelia’s soft, small hand. She instinctively tried to pull away, but upon seeing Klein’s pale face, she stopped struggling.
"Ophelia, I’m awake. Does this mean you’ll fulfill your promise and become my partner?"
"Klein, I’ve never thought of breaking my word. I will do what I promised."
A satisfied smile appeared on Klein’s lips, his voice raspy. "Good. Then once my injuries are healed, we will hold our bonding ceremony."
Ophelia lowered her eyes to the large hand holding hers, feeling a bit hesitant. She hadn’t held a bonding ceremony when she partnered with either Tyler or Zerev. Faced with Klein’s request, she didn’t know how to respond.
Seeing her silence, Klein raised an eyebrow slightly. "If you don’t want to, then forget it." A look of disappointment washed over his face as he took a step back to gain the upper hand.
Seeing him like this, Ophelia couldn’t bear to refuse. "Okay, we’ll hold the bonding ceremony once you’re fully healed."
Seeing his goal achieved, a joyful smile spread across Klein’s lips. "Don’t worry, Ophelia. I will treat you well from now on."
Ophelia’s thoughts drifted away, and she nodded subconsciously.
Klein wasn’t angry when he saw that Ophelia wasn’t paying full attention to his words. After all, he couldn’t push her too hard, or it would backfire. He had both the confidence and the patience to wait for Ophelia to fall in love with him willingly.
Perhaps motivated by the prospect of their upcoming partnership, Klein’s wounds recovered rapidly in the following days. It took about ten days before the clan doctor allowed him out of bed.
The very first thing he did upon getting up was announce that he and Ophelia would be holding their bonding ceremony.
Although Tyler and Zerev had known about this for a long time, now that it was actually happening, they still felt a pang of discomfort in their hearts.
