I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me
Chapter 123: Loki Discovers the Spatial Secret
Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Loki Discovers the Spatial Secret
Klein naturally noticed the disdain in Zerev’s eyes, but he didn’t care. "Zerev, if I were you, I would absolutely never agree to let Ophelia go save Tyler."
Zerev leaned against a tree trunk and chuckled softly. "Idiot. If Tyler really dies, he’ll live in Ophelia’s heart forever. None of us would ever be able to compete with him."
This was why a dead first love was the most formidable rival—because no one could ever surpass a ghost.
Klein was smart, and he understood the implication behind Zerev’s words. Thus, he also came to agree with Zerev’s decision to let Ophelia rescue Tyler. Even so, he still felt somewhat disgruntled.
He scoffed coldly, "I hope you won’t regret this decision in the future." With that, he stormed off in a huff.
Zerev shook the waterskin in his hand, his eyes darkening like ink. He didn’t know if he would regret it, but he did know one thing: after this incident, Ophelia would absolutely never dissolve their mate bond.
After resting for about ten minutes, Ophelia and Zerev headed for the North Mountain.
When they reached the halfway point up the North Mountain, Ophelia suggested they split up. "Zerev, take a few males and hide in the shadows. We’ll take separate paths. Have Moye take the remaining males and flank them from behind."
Hearing Ophelia’s suggestion, Moye nodded. "Young Master, Ophelia is right. This is the only way to be absolutely certain of success." Besides, as long as the Young Master didn’t charge to the front lines, the danger to him would be vastly reduced.
"Be careful out there. If anything goes wrong, shout for me immediately," Zerev said, nodding in agreement to her plan. He then led his group of males stealthily into the forest, flanking Ophelia from a distance as she continued her ascent.
About half an hour later, Ophelia finally arrived at the summit, her pregnant belly leading the way.
At the top of the mountain, Loki sat beneath a tree, boredly toying with the grass by his feet. Upon hearing footsteps, he looked up, his eyes bursting with a sharp gleam.
"Ophelia, you’re finally here." A smile crept into his crimson eyes. "Ophelia, you really do love Tyler. To think you’d disregard your own life and actually come alone for his sake."
Ophelia ignored Loki entirely. Her gaze fell straight onto Tyler, who was strung up from a tree branch. His eyes were tightly shut, and his body was covered in numerous claw marks. A faint sneer tugged at her lips. They really were a match made in heaven; the two of them used the exact same kidnapping methods.
"Stop staring, he’s still alive." Noticing that Ophelia was completely ignoring him, Loki felt a surge of resentment.
"Spit it out. What will it take for you to release Tyler?!"
Loki raised an eyebrow. "As long as you kill yourself right in front of me, I’ll let him go. How about it? My request is quite simple, isn’t it?"
Ophelia laughed out of sheer anger. "Very simple. Why don’t you go die yourself, then?"
Loki drew the Bone Knife from his waist and pressed it against Tyler’s neck. "Ophelia, you’d better obediently accept your death, or else neither of you will survive."
"Fine, I can agree to that. But I need to confirm that Tyler is actually still alive. If you don’t agree, I’ll turn around and leave right now."
From their past interactions, Loki knew that Ophelia was a woman of her word who acted decisively. He didn’t dare hesitate, terrified of missing out on such a golden opportunity. So he hurriedly replied, "Fine, I agree. But you’d better not try any tricks, otherwise I’ll..." Loki’s words dripped with threat.
Ophelia, however, dismissed his threat with sheer contempt. She stepped forward, slowly approaching Tyler. While keeping a vigilant eye on Loki’s movements, she reached out to check Tyler’s breathing.
"Tyler, Tyler, wake up."
"Stop tapping him. He’s under the effects of my sleeping drug and won’t wake up," Loki sneered.
As if to slap him in the face, Tyler slowly opened his eyes the very next second. "Prin... Princess, why are you here? Leave quickly! Leave me be."
Looking at the wounds covering Tyler’s body, Ophelia’s eyes quietly reddened. She caressed his face and said softly, "Have you forgotten our secret? I forbid you from dying."
"And neither of us is going to die," she added. She spoke this last sentence so faintly that Loki, standing nearby, didn’t hear it at all.
Hearing Ophelia’s words, Tyler’s brown eyes trembled.
Meanwhile, Loki secretly raised his Bone Knife and crept stealthily toward Ophelia.
"Princess, watch out!" Tyler shouted a warning when he saw Loki closing in.
Ophelia also heard the sound of the blade slicing through the air. She immediately grabbed Tyler’s shoulder, preparing to silently recite the command to enter the System Space.
"Ophelia!" Suddenly, Zerev, who had been hiding in the shadows, appeared from behind a tree.
His shout disrupted Ophelia’s focus for a split second. She hastily recited the command to enter the System Space in her mind. However, because of that brief hesitation, Loki’s hand clamped down onto her shoulder. Seeing the situation turn dire, Zerev also lunged forward and grabbed Tyler’s leg.
The next second, Zerev’s vision flashed with blinding white light. By the time he opened his eyes again, the surrounding scenery had undergone an earth-shattering change.
"Where... where exactly is this?"
Beside him, Loki stared excitedly at the lush green rice paddies, his emerald eyes gleaming brightly. "So this is your secret. I was wondering how you suddenly learned to grow crops. It turns out you have a mystical place like this."
Not only did he see the rice paddies, but he also noticed a livestock pen nearby housing dozens of pink pigs, as well as cows and sheep.
"Why does someone like you have such a thing? It should be mine." Murderous intent erupted in Loki’s eyes. Raising his Bone Knife, he lunged at Ophelia. He acted as though killing Ophelia would automatically make this miraculous place his.
At this moment, Tyler was still bound from head to toe in thick vines, completely unable to stand up and stop Loki. He could only throw his body weight sideways, knocking Ophelia out of the way, before shouting at the still-dazed Zerev.
"Zerev, hurry up and kill Loki! The Princess’s secret cannot be exposed!"
Snapping out of it at Tyler’s shout, Zerev quickly reacted. He immediately shifted into his dragon form and lunged straight at Loki. Loki scrambled away in panic, sparking a wild game of cat-and-mouse within the several-hundred-square-meter System Space.
Ophelia hurried over to yank at the vines binding Tyler. Because she had inherited half of Zerev’s strength, she effortlessly tore the vines apart. Before she could even catch her breath, she noticed Tyler’s face had turned beet red.
"Tyler, what’s wrong?" Ophelia asked anxiously.
Tyler grabbed his own neck, forcing out a raspy voice. "Prin... Princess, I can’t breathe."
Ophelia’s eyes darkened. "This is bad," she thought. Except for her, no outsiders could stay in the System Space for long.
She turned to Zerev and shouted sharply, "Zerev, hurry up and kill Loki!"
She couldn’t just watch Tyler and Zerev suffocate to death. Because she had tested it before, she knew the rules of the System Space: foreign entities brought in together had to leave together. If they couldn’t kill Loki inside the System Space and let him escape, her secret might be exposed.
She would absolutely never allow such a thing to happen.
