I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 77: There’s No Medicine for Regret in This World
Chapter 77: Chapter 77: There’s No Medicine for Regret in This World
Those two words sealed Julian Sterling’s fate.
The firmness in Evelyn Grant’s voice as she spoke was identical to the tone Julian Sterling had used back when he’d sworn he would never let her go.
Others might not recognize that tone, but how could he not?
Just then, Evelyn Grant’s phone suddenly rang.
The sound shattered the silence.
Julian Sterling instinctively glanced at her phone screen.
He knew that string of numbers all too well.
It was his own brother’s number.
But! He was surprised to see that Evelyn Grant hadn’t saved Ryan Sterling’s number.
For a fleeting moment, a flicker of hope ignited in Julian, but in the next second, Evelyn Grant answered the call.
Ryan Sterling’s voice came through the phone.
"Why aren’t you back yet?"
Evelyn Grant didn’t hide anything, stating plainly, "Julian Sterling is keeping me from leaving."
"Wait there."
After tossing out those two words, Ryan Sterling hung up.
This left Evelyn Grant a little confused.
But her confusion was cleared up soon enough.
From the other side of the road, a black Cullinan slowly approached, eventually stopping right beside Evelyn Grant.
"We’re going home."
Ryan Sterling got out of the car and walked straight to Evelyn Grant’s side.
His gaze fell, sharp and demanding, on the hand Julian was using to grip Evelyn’s. "Let go."
"..." Julian’s lips formed a thin, tight line, but he refused to loosen his grip.
Evelyn struggled a few times, her delicate brows knitting together. "Haven’t I made myself clear?"
"I..."
"Brother, what’s done is done."
After saying this, Ryan Sterling wrapped an arm around Evelyn Grant’s shoulders, broke Julian’s hold, and guided her into the car.
In the second before the car door shut, Julian instinctively took a step forward.
"Evelyn..."
But his movement didn’t stop the door from closing.
No one cared how much pain he was in, or how cold the night wind truly felt.
...
「In the Cullinan.」
Evelyn Grant had been silent ever since she got in the car, her head bowed.
Ryan Sterling didn’t disturb her, simply driving on in silence.
After some time had passed,
Evelyn Grant finally broke the silence.
"I’m sorry."
Ryan Sterling’s hands paused on the steering wheel. He glanced over at her. "What’s wrong? Why are you apologizing?"
"I honestly didn’t know Julian would be at my mom’s house. I was tricked into going. But... when I saw him, I didn’t leave right away. Because of my mom."
She couldn’t just walk out; she had to think about her mother’s health.
But Evelyn felt that as long as she was Ryan Sterling’s wife, she shouldn’t have been seen together with Julian at her mother’s house.
That’s why she had to apologize.
"I know. I don’t blame you."
How could Ryan Sterling not know about Evelyn Grant’s family situation?
He knew all too well how her hands were tied.
"I’m not trying to hold on to anything with Julian. I won’t have anything to do with him again! It’s just... when my mom is involved, I have to be more careful!" Evelyn kept her head down, not daring to look at him, her voice dropping to a murmur. "And even though... I still haven’t figured out our relationship, yours and mine, I know what I should and shouldn’t do."
Suddenly, Ryan Sterling reached across the car’s center console and took her hand.
He gently caressed it.
"I told you I’d give you time. You don’t have to rush to figure things out. Even if you take a lifetime to think about it, that would be fine by me."
