I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 63: Things Not Worth Knowing
Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Things Not Worth Knowing
Chloe Shea had just one son and one daughter. All she wanted was for her children to be healthy and have their own happy families.
When Julian Sterling walked in, he instinctively looked around.
This was an old apartment building. Though the unit itself was a decent size, the walls were covered in peeling paint and discolored patches.
There were even water stains and signs of mold in the corners of the ceiling.
"Mom, have you always lived here?"
"Yes! It’s very convenient here. There’s a fresh market right out front and another market out back. You can find anything you need!" After speaking, Chloe Shea went into the kitchen to pour Julian Sterling a glass of water. She then washed some fruit and brought it out. "I wasn’t expecting you, so I’m not really prepared!"
"Please, don’t go to any trouble." Julian Sterling sat on the sofa, looked at his mother-in-law, and hesitated for a few seconds before speaking. "I have an apartment in Kyro. Why don’t you and Alex move in there?"
"No, there’s no need! I’m quite used to living here. I know all my neighbors; we’re very familiar with one another!" Chloe Shea waved her hands insistently. "The fact that you would even offer... that’s more than enough for me!"
She had watched Julian Sterling grow up, after all. Some offers didn’t need to be acted upon. The fact that he had offered on his own was, in Chloe Shea’s eyes, proof enough that he was a dutiful son-in-law.
’Many sons-in-law wouldn’t even go that far!’
"But the conditions here... they aren’t great. Besides, Eve and I won’t be living there, so it’s just sitting empty!"
Of course, Julian Sterling’s offer had an ulterior motive.
’If Evelyn Grant’s mother and brother are living in my apartment, how far could she really run?’
’Ultimately, our family will have to be together.’
’And where would that leave Ryan Sterling?’
"I don’t want to be a bother to you two. As long as you and Eve are happy together, it doesn’t matter where I live!" Chloe Shea said with a smile. "Oh, that’s right. I told Eve I’d make dumplings for dinner, so I need to go to the market for groceries..."
She hadn’t expected Julian Sterling to arrive so early.
To her surprise, Julian Sterling immediately stood up and said, "I’ll go with you! That way, I can help carry the heavy things."
He was the very picture of a model son-in-law.
"Alright!"
Chloe Shea felt it would be impolite to keep refusing his kindness, so she nodded.
On the way there, Julian Sterling asked many questions about Evelyn Grant.
Many things...
Things he had never bothered to learn before.
For example, Evelyn Grant loved the color red because someone had given her a red umbrella back in high school. Ever since then, she had found herself subconsciously buying red things.
And her favorite brand of bubble tea was one he had bought for her once before.
Chloe Shea explained that whenever Eve was upset, she would go out and buy that specific bubble tea. After drinking it, it was as if all her problems would just wash away.
But what Chloe Shea didn’t know was that her daughter’s bad moods were mostly caused by the very man in front of her.
He had never paid his wife any real attention, treating her as little more than a tool to be used.
When she could take care of his needs, he accepted her as a live-in caretaker who didn’t even warrant a "thank you."
When she couldn’t, she was nothing to him!
What he said or didn’t say was none of her concern.
"Eve is a very loyal and deeply affectionate person! All I ask is that you please, please take good care of her. Don’t let her suffer anymore."
