I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 52 - 51: If You Don’t Want It, Then Give It to Me
Chapter 52: Chapter 51: If You Don’t Want It, Then Give It to Me
That was the last chance he gave his brother.
If Julian had been willing to come to his senses then, Ryan could have convinced himself to trust him one last time.
But he didn’t.
Julian hadn’t given Evelyn a chance, so Ryan wasn’t going to give his brother one either.
"I didn’t know the specifics at the time! When Jane died, Evelyn was the only one there. My suspicion was a logical deduction! What did I do wrong?"
"She is your wife." Ryan looked directly into his brother’s eyes, not flinching in the slightest. "When it comes to my wife, my first instinct would never be to doubt her, no matter how obvious the evidence seemed!"
When you’re partners, you should give each other the utmost trust.
My first reaction would always be to protect my woman! Even if my wife were truly at fault, it would be my place to talk to her, not to immediately run to the opposition!
"That’s because you’re not me! You didn’t experience what Jane and I had! If it weren’t for our parents’ opposition, if Mr. Sterling hadn’t insisted I marry Evelyn, I never would have—"
"Exactly. You didn’t cherish her, so give her to me."
"..."
Ryan’s lips curled into a sneer. "You’re still defending Jane Jacobs, even now! Haven’t you seen the evidence that cleared Evelyn’s name? Don’t tell me you couldn’t understand the content of the chats between Jane Jacobs and her friend! You’re just lying to yourself. You just don’t want to understand!"
It was only then that it suddenly dawned on Julian.
His eyes widened in realization. "The one who found the evidence for Evelyn... it was you?!"
No wonder!
No wonder that evidence could be dug up. No wonder it happened so quickly! Looking at it now, this was all Ryan’s plan from the start!
"Yes, it was me."
"This evidence wasn’t something you found after returning to the country. You had it all along, back when I brought people to arrest Evelyn. But you didn’t tell me, right?"
Julian was no fool. Now that he knew his brother had premeditated this, many things started to make sense.
Ryan frowned slightly. "The evidence is real. That’s all that matters."
’What else needed to be explained?’
"You clearly could have told me! What was with that pretentious warning? And if you really wanted to help Evelyn, why didn’t you just present the evidence directly?" Julian sneered. "You’re just another person who’ll do anything to get what they want, aren’t you? Watching as I wrongly accused Evelyn, yet you just sat on the evidence and refused to show it?"
"I don’t deny it. I did it on purpose."
"Then don’t you dare act all high and mighty and talk about how much you love Evelyn!"
"I may not be the person who loves Evelyn the most, but I definitely love her more than you do."
’So it wasn’t his place to say such things.’
...
Evelyn had a series of bizarre, surreal dreams.
She even dreamed she was back in that year when Mr. Sterling asked her which one she wanted to marry: Julian or Ryan.
Seeing her dream-self about to say Julian’s name, Evelyn frantically tried to stop her, but she couldn’t get a single word out. She could only watch from a third-person perspective!
’The Evelyn from back then was so foolish.’
After saying "Julian" with a heart full of hope, her cheeks had turned beet red with shyness, and she couldn’t bring herself to lift her head.
That was the first time she had ever revealed to anyone that she liked Julian, and on that same day, Mr. Sterling had promised her that Julian would soon be her husband.
