I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 155: You Really Overestimated Yourself
Chapter 155: Chapter 155: You Really Overestimated Yourself
Julian Sterling also seemed to sense someone was watching him and turned to look in her direction.
Then, he strode over to Evelyn Grant’s side in a few long steps.
His tone was concerned. "Are you... feeling okay now? Quick, go inside and sit down. Don’t just stand there."
Looking at her weak, pale face, Julian Sterling felt a pang of heartache.
That expression couldn’t be faked.
But when he reached out to support Evelyn Grant, she dodged him immediately!
Lifting her gaze, Evelyn Grant’s eyes held only disgust and hatred.
"Stop pretending. Aren’t you the one behind all this?"
’The miscarriage was caused by the medicine he gave me. What’s he doing here, putting on this fake show of concern?’
A flash of embarrassment crossed Julian Sterling’s handsome face before he regained his composure.
"Eve, I told you before, I couldn’t accept this child."
"My child has nothing to do with you. What gives you the right to accept them or not?"
"It’s your child with my own brother. How am I supposed to accept that? How can I just smile and give you my blessing? I can’t do it!" Julian Sterling tried to grab her hand, but she swatted it away again. "I truly regret it now. I’m begging you, give me another chance. Let’s start over! Let’s go back to our home, okay? After you left, the house became so cold and empty. I can’t stand to be there for another second!"
Evelyn Grant looked at him coldly.
"You’re really something else! When I was at home, you found me annoying and didn’t want to come back. Now that we’re divorced, you say the house is empty and you don’t want to be there either! Julian Sterling, am I your doll? Someone to be toyed with however you please?"
"No, that’s not it! I just didn’t realize back then that I’d already fallen in love with you. I was stupid enough to think my heart belonged to Jane Jacobs!"
"So, what is this? The prodigal son returns?"
Julian Sterling nodded. "Yes, of course it is!"
"But why should I wait for the prodigal son to return? You really overestimate yourself."
"..."
Evelyn Grant held out her hand. "Weren’t you going to let me verify something on the phone? Hand it over."
She was here to verify that screenshot, not to reminisce with Julian Sterling.
Every last detail of the past was already seared into Evelyn Grant’s mind.
There was no need for anyone to say more. They were both adults; they understood.
Julian Sterling pursed his lips and took Florence Morgan’s phone out of his suit pocket.
"You can look. This text message is from Ryan Sterling to my mom! Back then, none of us knew he had feelings for you, so no one would have faked this."
Evelyn Grant didn’t listen to his explanation at all.
She could judge the truth for herself; she didn’t need him to explain it.
Taking the phone, Evelyn Grant looked through it.
’This text message... it looks real.’
Evelyn Grant then checked the contact information saved for that number.
’After all, it could just be a number Julian secretly saved to mislead me into thinking it was Ryan’s!’
But there didn’t seem to be any issues there, either.
But Evelyn Grant couldn’t accept it!
She couldn’t accept that this text message was from Ryan Sterling to Florence Morgan!
What did this mean?
’This... this meant that from the very beginning, Ryan wasn’t sincere about being with me either. He even wanted to set me up with Julian, going so far as to get that medicine for him!’
The one time Julian had schemed against her, Ryan had been the one to arrive just in time to save her.
’If this text message is real, then doesn’t that mean...’
’...that Ryan staged the whole thing?’
