Chapter 370: Come Back, It’s Time to Eat!

Just from his expression, she could tell that Calen wasn’t much of a fruit lover. Still, he chewed everything without complaining simply because his wife was the one feeding him.

[He’s really cute,] Roxanna praised him in her mind. [What a good boy.]

Calen’s eyes immediately shifted from side to side. Why did Roxanna’s thoughts make it sound like she was praising her dog?

Technically, he used to be her dog, but he was a fully grown dog beastman now! More importantly, he had Fenrir blood running through his veins!

That was why, there was nothing cute about him!

However, strangely enough, Calen didn’t protest at all when Roxanna continued calling him cute in her mind.

"Have you finished cutting up the chickens?" Cyrus suddenly asked, breaking the strange moment between Roxanna and Calen. "I’d appreciate it if you separated the meat from the bones too."

Calen frowned and turned toward him. "What? We’re not going to eat the bones? Why not?"

Roxanna quickly explained, "Because crispy chicken fillets will taste better! If we remove the bones first, we can just eat the chicken without having to bother with the bones later."

"You throw away the bones?" The frown on Calen’s forehead grew even deeper, as though he had just heard something completely strange. "I always eat everything."

Roxanna stared at him for a moment before remembering that Calen was still a beastman. For her, eating chicken bones sounded strange, but for Calen, it was probably completely normal.

"You can still eat the bones if you want," Roxanna said with a small laugh. "I just need the meat without the bones for the dish I want to make."

Calen’s frown immediately disappeared. "Oh! Then that’s fine."

He looked much more relieved now that he knew the bones weren’t going to be thrown away. "I’ll eat them!"

Roxanna still found it a little strange, but seeing how happy Calen looked, she decided not to say anything about it.

After that, Calen returned to the backyard to continue cutting up the chickens. Meanwhile, Roxanna and Cyrus decided to start with the meat curry.

"What kind of meat is this?" Roxanna asked when she saw Cyrus washing the meat with water from the wooden tub they had filled earlier.

"This is actually the tiger meat you hunted with the others," Cyrus said. "I think it’s still safe to eat since I froze it."

Roxanna looked at the meat again. Back when they went hunting, she had actually wondered whether tiger meat was even something people could eat. The thought of eating a tiger still felt strange to her.

However, she had already tasted some before going into the forest to look for Luan, and surprisingly, it wasn’t bad at all.

The meat had a stronger taste than what she was used to, but it was still quite good or perhaps that was simply how tiger meat tasted in this world.

After all, Roxanna had long since learned that she couldn’t always use the common sense from her old world here.

Roxanna pushed the thought aside and opened her System Panel. With a quick thought, she brought up the cookbook she had stored in her inventory and flipped through its pages until she found the recipe she wanted.

"Alright, let’s make the curry first," Roxanna said as her eyes moved across the recipe floating in front of her. "First, we need to cut the meat into small pieces, but I think you have done that."

Roxanna continued reading the recipe from the System Panel while Cyrus followed her instructions one by one. "Next are the onions, shallots, and garlic. We need to cut them first."

Cyrus reached for the ingredients and started cutting them.

"Then heat some oil," she instructed.

Cyrus did exactly that. Roxanna watched him for a moment before turning her attention back to the glowing panel in front of her.

This was surprisingly convenient.

She only needed to read the instructions from the System Panel, while Cyrus did most of the actual cooking.

Meanwhile, Calen had already finished cutting up the chickens and had joined them in the kitchen. However, unlike Cyrus, he wasn’t actually doing anything.

He was simply standing beside Roxanna.

"Calen, can you give me the salt?" Roxanna asked without looking away from the recipe.

"Yes!"

Calen immediately grabbed the salt and handed it to her.

"Thank you," she said.

His face brightened at once. A moment later, Roxanna read the next line on the System Panel.

"Pepper too."

"I’ll get it!" Calen quickly handed her the pepper before returning to his favorite place beside her.

Roxanna finally glanced at him. "Don’t you want to help Cyrus?"

"No." His answer came without hesitation. "I already cut the chickens."

Roxanna stared at him for a while before letting out a laugh. To be honest, she had never expected Calen to do the cooking in the first place.

Besides, Cyrus didn’t seem to want Calen’s help either. He probably thought Calen would somehow make the food taste strange.

So, in the end, Calen simply stayed beside Roxanna while she read the recipe from the System Panel and Cyrus did most of the cooking.

They continued cooking like that for a while, and before Roxanna even realized it, all three dishes were finally done.

The delicious smell of curry, crispy fried chicken, and mashed potatoes filled the kitchen, making Roxanna’s already hungry stomach growl even louder.

"Do you want to try some first?" Cyrus asked.

He had already picked up a piece of crispy chicken and was holding it near her mouth, ready to feed her.

Roxanna was tempted because the chicken smelled so good, and she had been waiting to taste it ever since Cyrus started frying it.

Still, she quickly shook her head. "No. I want us to eat together!" Roxanna said. "Let’s wait until Zeir and Luan come back!"

The moment those words left her mouth, Calen suddenly jumped to his feet. "I’ll make them come back right now!"

Before Roxanna could even ask what he was planning to do, Calen had already rushed out of the hut.

"Calen, wait—"

It was too late because he was already gone.

Only a few minutes later, hurried footsteps could be heard coming toward the hut.

Roxanna looked toward the entrance in surprise.

Zeir appeared first, followed closely by Luan, while Calen happily walked behind them as if he had just completed an important mission.

[So fast!] Roxanna thought, staring at them in disbelief. [What in the world did Calen tell them to make them come back this quickly?!]
